2009 College Football Season

C'mon now bro you don't seriously want to compare your Gator fanhood to mine do you? :nono2: My grandfather raised my father from birth to be a Buckeye and he raised me to be a Buckeye and I am now rearing a 4th generation of Buckeyes. So what is my affiliation? it's cultural, 100 years of membership in Buckeye Nation it's a birthright. You've been a Gator for what 5-6 years? I can't remember when they won that first national championship, but at any rate all I'm saying is you needn't go there it's fool-hearty. Oh and in my 40 years as a Buckeye I've been to 50+ games and I'm going with the family to see them beat New Mexico on Halloween so 4games/year since 2005 :toofunny: again c'mon now get real.
You are a Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots fan correct? What about BC man? no love for the Eagles? that's a fine school with a nice football program. Just think if Ohio State had beat Florida and LSU that would be 3 championships in 6 years and hell you would probably be a Buckeye fan.
Lastly my wife is from L.A. does that mean I can jump ship and be a Trojans fan because they are better? Of course not I'm not a front runner.

Wow - You're like some iconic college football fan with that heartfelt story....

I am a Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics fan. So why exactly again should I be a BC fan by your conventional wisdom? Because I lived in New England? If that were true I guess you'd also be a Georgia fan by default too, then...

I didn't go to BC; I went to UConn. I still very much follow UConn basketball (as I did from a child), and our football program is now starting to improve and expand. In my time at UConn, the football program was just beginning to develop. They've done a fine job and continue to improve.

Again, we're back to the "What If's", but the problem is, both Florida and LSU beat up on OSU in the national championship game. It's in the books, and there is no use beating the dead horse that is Ohio State. ;) I would rather shove toothpicks in my eyes than become an OSU fan.

For what it's worth as well, this is all in good fun. I can appreciate your dedication to your team. I just like a little smack talk here and there. I've taken plenty of sh*t already for my Red Sox getting swept in the ALDS. There are plenty of teams I despise more than OSU; Tennessee and Georgia top the list.

 I just enjoy harrasing the SEC guys on here ,I can't help myself you've all become so full of yourselves that I feel compelled. Actually football season is horrible for me i think I've already gained 10 ponds this season. It's time to put down the beer and pizza and focus on what's important and that's my Methadrol/Bold 200 cycle I'm about to start. Enjoy the rest of the season fellas. We'll get em next year or the year after that for sure maybe. GO BUCKS!!

Today I heard through the AR coaches circle that the officiating crew from the FL/AR game has been contracted to work the AR/Ole Miss game. I have not been able to confirm it, but that's what I was told by someone who is supposed to know.

self edit*
I got my answer. Apparently the crews are assigned all their games before the season begins, and yes, this crew is scheduled to officiate the AR v Ole Miss game. However, a coach can protest or ask to have a different crew assigned if they feel there's a problem. I can't see BP doing that.

Soooo, AR/Ole Miss should be interesting for a number of reasons.

The AR/Ole Miss game will be a Cotton Bowl elimination game, in my opinion. If Ole Miss loses, the wheels come off. If AR can get a couple of td's up, it's most likely a done deal b/c HDN doesn't play from behind well at all. This is his biggest date on the schedule, though they still have Auburn and LSU to play.

We can't help ourselves. SEC is the place to be.

Check in from time to time. We'll miss not being able to harrass you!

Good luck on your cycle.

SEC and the lower states in the Big XII = Kings of College Football.

I have a buddy in Boston and man, they have no idea what the **** they are missing.

Also, me and some guys I know from another forum are gearing up to start a forum dedicated to sports discussion and betting. Ill post it up once it all gets sorted out.

Keeper, how do you fit into college football? You seem personally immersed in it.

I have a close connection on the UofA coaching staff, but that's not why I love football. I just love the game itself. I also appreciate seeing athletes maximize their skills, talent, and abilities.

AND GUESS WHAT. According to the following from foxsports.com, that crew won't be officiating anything for a while.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The Southeastern Conference has suspended officials from last weekend's Arkansas-Florida game after the crew was involved in its second controversial call of the year.

Referee Marc Curles' crew called a personal foul on Arkansas defensive lineman Malcolm Sheppard in the fourth quarter as the Gators were rallying for a 23-20 victory. The league said there was no video evidence to support the call.

The same group of officials called the LSU-Georgia game earlier this month, which included a late unsportsmanlike conduct penalty the league said shouldn't have been called.

The SEC says the crew will be removed from its scheduled assignment this weekend and will not be assigned to officiate as a crew until Nov. 14.

The league said the crew's bowl assignments could also be impacted.

U of A as in Arkansas correct? When I hear UA I think Bama. And damn, there really needs to be more women like you.

Sorry, I cant get over it. I knew women that follow football existed but I havent ever really seen one...usually its just, "Oh I love football!" and they just watch because of "guys cute butts."

So uh..what are you doing later. :icon_lol::01:

Oh, I forgot to mention the butts.

I know. I'm an oddball when it comes to football. The University of Arkansas is correct.

As for what I'm doing, I just finished a good lifting session and now I'm sipping chilled Riesling while my bath fills.

Ahhh you know what I meant.:flowers1:

But yeah, whoever has you is a lucky ****. Watch, he probably doesnt even watch football. :twak:

Anyways, could this be the year of a BCS nightmare? I pray so.

Also, based on how Sherman is performing, Im hearing more and more that Tubby in maroon and white is more and more likely. Texas A&M rising? Will we see the wrecking crew once more?

If Tubby picks up some good coordinators, we could see A&M going for a Big XII championship in the next few years.

Also, the more I look at LSU, the more I think they may be falling from national prominance. Miles obviously isnt up to the task and the amount of talent they have is disgusting. For what they have, they should be doing amazing things. Seems like the QB problems for them has no end in sight, I dont care what people say about RusShep.

Seriously, someone send Ball Coach a QB. SoCar could build up to an elite SEC program should we see that IMO.

They're just one year out from NC. Give Miles a year or 2 to reload. I think they'll be great next year.

I agree with you about Spurrier having a decent QB at SC though. I've often wondered if QB recruits are scared of him or drawn to him??

Yeah, Troy was certainly a mobile QB.

I was thinking that Pryor, though, seems to be built more for the spread from the ground up. Of course if his decision making abilities are in question as you say he wouldn't be very good in a pure spread offense either (probably worse).

Yep, pryor would have been in the best scenario at Michigan or Oregon

LSU will be fine. There is a lot of young talent on that team.

Miles is not a good coach. For how little he achieves with how much he has, I dont really see any other explanation. They lost two games on the way to that NC and lucked out by playing Ohio State, the punching bag of the BCS. LSU seems like theyll be the bottom of the best at most in the coming years to me. A challenge but if Florida pulls more sick RBs and Bama keeps Saban, theyll own LSU until they just dont have the recruits anymore.

Spurrier...who knows. I guess he doesnt attract them because he obviously hasnt had one. If I were a SoCar AD, Id find a kickass QB coach and recruit a 4 or 5* hard. That program is primed for great things if they can keep going and keep recruiting.

Pryor would have been best at wide reciever.

He's been more interested in kickers lately. Seriously, whining about "tape" after your team couldn't score a touchdown? That's what Spurrier has been reduced to. It's a little sad.

I will say that the SEC coaches do try and report each other more than in any other league (Spurrier, Saban, Fulmer, Kiffin., etc....). I guess that is always better than Michigan where their own players turn their coach in.

Slick Lame has been brown-nosing "Bama all week in the press.
That piece of sh*t will stab Saban and the Tide in the back next week just as fast. You watch.

I absolutely expect it. He's just hyping up Bama to make UT look better if they play them close or ((gulp)) pull the upset, and at the same time it's a shot at Urban. Maybe he thinks he's a genius all of a sudden because he trashed Florida for nine months and they didn't beat him 77-3. In the long run, he's going to regret keeping a constant bulls-eye on his team when they do build up the program. Knowing Lame, he'll still be providing the Gators with a never-ending supply of locker room material.

Das cuz dem foos at bamuh haiv swagguh n if you make dem mad, dey be wilin on you fo u no it.

Dey got da swagguhz cuz dey fly, u mad cuz u not.

Bama Says FU

Tide sends message to Kiffin - "Here's what you can do with your self serving brown-nosing".....

AP 10/22/09
In one of the stranger decisions this season, Alabama denied a request by Tennessee to wear its orange jerseys for Saturday's nationally-televised game (CBS) at Bryant-Denny Stadium. An NCAA rule change for 2009 allows both teams in a game to wear their dark jerseys if the home team approves. Tennessee thought it would be kind of cool to wear their orange jerseys while Alabama wore its traditional home crimson. Back in the days before every game was televised, the teams often did that when they traditionally met on the third Saturday of October. The SEC approved the request but Alabama said no. Tide athletic director Mal Moore told the Mobile Press-Register that Alabama simply wanted to stick with the tradition of the road team wearing white jerseys.

Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin could have put the Orange jerseys on his team anyway, but that would have resulted in a 15-yard penalty on the kickoff against the Vols.

Big surprise: Alabama is one-dimensional on offense, and both teams can play defense. Never thought I'd be a fan of the Wildcat formation, but it seems to be the only thing Bama has going for them right now.

Bama's play-calling is just horrible. 2nd and 2 at the 7 with a little over a minute left. Instead of powering ahead and milking the clock, they throw 2 shoddy passes to the corner of the endzone, which stops the clock and results in a FG. A 9-3 lead instead of 13-3. Wtf??? UT could've matched that before halftime if their kicker was any good. I don't get it.

Wanna hear another secret? Julio Jones is a hyped up non factor 90% of the time.

Ohhhhhhh.

Yeah, sometimes I'm not sure what's goin' on there. I initially thought they were just doing a poor job of getting him the ball, and he had some nagging injuries. However, lately he's had a lot of drops and really does nothing with the ball after he gets it. Last year, I thought he was the better of the SEC freshman phenoms at WR, but Green from Georgia owns Julio. In fact, he's turned out to be Bama's 3rd best receiver. McElroy needs to get the ball to Marquise Maze A LOT more often, and stop trying to force the ball to Julio because of his supposed talents.

Don't feel bad my friend...our play calling is a joke...and not a secret at all. Also, how can you throw the basics out the window and expect a win? Tackling, Blocking, etc.? Hope Bama pulls it out man.

At least Bama has a d@mn defense.

Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane.

Dude, please, I am sure that you are smarter than that about football.

It is quite hard to catch the ball when you have 3 guys on you....

Today they switched the pass schemes and Jones has had some success...the issue is that the play calling, overall, is quite horrid at this point.

Ingram marched them down the field then they toss 2 passes to Jones, unreal?

I would wildcat them to death until the stopped it

Rubbering, have you not seen him power through about 6 tackles today?

Also, if you watch closely you can see McElroy throwing with his eyes closed(sarcasm), wtf is going on? Four passes that would have kept drives alive, he has thrown behind his man...kid has got to get his game up, or at least, get it back to where he was the first 5 games.

The last two games he didn't even throw the ball to him except for about 5 times...5 throws in 2 games? Where is the punchline, i am sure there is a joke somewhere.

Jesus, wtf is up with the assisted tackles from the refs? That happened last week to Arkansas as well I believe.

Predict this drive.....run 3 plays up the middle and punt....

Playing it safe

Bama will win this, but it is ugly, again.

Well, running into the kicker, I think i may just watch this
