2009 College Football Season

LSU has a crappy offensive line. They were supposed to be a strong point this year. I don't know what happened to those guys. I'm thinking they might lose 2 or 3 more games if they don't work it out on the front five.

The defense is looking better every game under Chavis but the offense never helps them out.

Good game Florida. God bless.

"I know E.Illinois is ranked 179th in the nation...but Penn state had it together today.."

LOL that is like saying I know I took the slow learner's class today, but man my basic addition skills were on fire

worry about your own pathetic conference. i watched the florida/lsu game and was not at all impressed by either team. Alabama should be #1 in my book. Also, iowa (5-0) are very underrated. They are a top 10 team as is Ohio st.

Who's #1? Say it with me, beeotch......F L O R I D A!!!!!!!!

Your ridiculous statement reflects the blinders that you obviously wear big 10, fan. CHOMP, CHOMP, CHOMP, CHOMP, CHOMP!!!!!!!

I love the hate; it denotes your overt and blatant ignorance. The big 10 still sucks; tis a fact.

Someone had a PERFECT day with the College Pick Em'.

I won't name any names.

He's an Alabama fan.

His name starts with rubber.

He never brags.

I know there are alot of Gator fans on here, congrats for the win over the Tigers. Being a former resident of LA I was going for the Tigers but I just had a sense that LSU was overrated at #4.

I am thrilled about my Red Raiders crushing K State 66-14, regardless of how good you think KS is or was, it doesn't take away the fact that Tech looked amazing. It was a nice weekend after blowing the Houston game two weeks back. Also Steven Sheffield truly does look significantly better than Potts. When I was at the game last weekend against New Mexico, I was worried about Steven because he didn't look too good in the 4th quarter. (after being lights out on his first drive and in the 3rd)

Anyways, next week playing away in Nebraska will tell me whether Sheffield is the real deal or not. Safe to say I think Potts has probably lost his starting position at this point.

Gators Win!!!!!

There goes your saturday night streak at home LSU, hahahaha!!!!

In all seriousness though, great game. You can tell UF played conservative, but it was still good enough. I'm very impressed with our defense.

15 straight UF wins. GO GATORS!!!!!

Yes, very conservative, but I think they needed not to let Tebow run wild. Things will start to hang out more as time goes by.

The defense is just annihilating. There are no holes. 2 Deep from last year at every position.
Another game without an opponent TD -and doing that in Death Valley on a Saturday night is incredible.
All the focus was on Tebow, but that defense is second to none.

Good game Florida. God bless.
Thanks, but LSU still controls it's own destiny as they said last night.

Thanks man, I honestly think this Saturday's (Gator-Hog) game will be quite interesting.
For sure. Hogs were mighty impressive in a big win over what I thought was a badly under-rated Auburn team.

Welcome. Nice to have a Tech fan here in the mix.

Yet you say you were impressed by PSU beating Eastern Illinios?? :wtf1:

LSU could definitely win out and play Florida again. I just don't see it happening with the way the offensive line is playing right now.

Maybe the Florida defense is just that good but they were having trouble moving the ball even against Georgia. You can't win in the SEC if you can't run the ball effectively.

I do worry about my conference and I also pride myself on being an educated fan. I watched my team put up almost 500 yards of offense and 44 points against an SEC defense. You are impressed by your team putting up 50 on Eastern Illinois? LOL lets compare those two wins...wait we don't need to. I am from Columbus, OH and I watched OSU play yesterday and while OSU has smothering defense, Pryor had 87 yards passing. Need I say more? The only legit team in the Big 10 is Iowa. (Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern, Minnesota, Purdue - all terrible), (Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan State - average), (Ohio State - good), and (Iowa - only real contender). As an SEC man, as well as many other SEC fans on this forum will agree, we don't really enjoy this mindless debate between the Big Ten vs SEC. Why you ask? Only because there is no debate. There is no comparison between the two conferences. I am sure the Big Ten will be fine and will recover in time, but as for now, there is no conference even close to comparing to the SEC. Take a step back and look at it objectively.

Just checked Vandy's offensive output since last year's Auburn win. Here's their points total from each game:

14, 14, 14, 7, 14, 31, 10, 10, 10, 16, 45, 9, 3, 36, 7, 13

In their last 16 games, they only scored over 16 points on 3 occasions.

This^^^^^

The score may not have resembled it, but the Hogs are much improved over last season. Alabama's defense will be the best one Arkansas sees this season. I still think the Razorbacks will pull a major upset this season to give Petrino his signature win there.

I'm like a prophet and such.

I'm like a prophet and such.
That is what I have been trying to explain since the Alabama game. The Tides defense is absolutely insane. I think they will be this years national champions. The razorback defense is starting to come together and play with purpose. No matter how many times we play Alabama, I don't think we would win, but I sure would like to have that Georgia game back. Most people still don't grasp how good the Razorback offense is (which is also a testament to the Tide D). As far as upsets go, I don't think we are finished. I am fine with the underdog role, I encourage the rest of our schedule to continue not take us seriously.

I wouldn't bet against Arkansas at this point, but having to play at Florida, Ole Miss, and LSU is pretty brutal. Still, I doubt the Rebels or the Tigers can score enough points to keep up if the Razorbacks' offense is at full throttle.

I know a 22-3 score may not reflect it, but what the Tide did to Ole Miss yesterday was savage. Snead was 11 of 34 with 0 TDs and 4 INTs. They had 14 yards of total offense at halftime. I saw a sign from one of the Bama fans at the end of the game which read: "Honk if you hurried Jevan Snead!" :18:

Indeed.
Dare I say it could very well be a battle of unbeatens in Atlanta this December, although your remaining schedule is definitely more dangerous than ours.
Good luck my SEC friend.

no...your putting words in my mouth. i clearly said"penn state had it together"...meaning errorless plays by the first team, accurate throws by Clark and such. This was a motivational game for penn state...now its time to win the rest of the games.

futhermore, it was supposed to be a bye week for penn state...they chose to play this one to improve unlike a "certain team" (florida) that had a bye week last week........................sheeeeeeeesh!!!!!!!

Back to ya, OG. They're halfway there. Still, S. Carolina has momentum, Tennessee is improving, LSU is bipolar, and Auburn... well, I read this morning that Saban has agreed to send them his 3rd-string defensive unit. Should be a huge upgrade for the Tigers!

Btw, anyone else starting to get the feeling that Bradford and OU are gonna beat Texas this Saturday? I just can't see the Sooners going 3-3.

I'll need to ponder some more on that one.

That got me thinking:
If Texas loses any of their remaining games (possible), Iowa loses at Ohio State (probable), and UF and Alabama run their respective tables (very possible), it would be #1 and #2 in the SEC Championship game which would make the NCG game against some 1 or 2 loss team somewhat of an anti-climax.

Not totally implausible (although Boise State kind of screws up that scenario I guess).

I concur. They haven't really faced "competition" so far, and they lost 2 of their runners this week. Not looking good for the LHs.

Texas best competiton thus far has been Tech, which even then we barely lost the game (10 points) and just imagine if we had Steven Sheffield playing instead of Potts, who knows what could have happened then. Oh yea, also imagine what would have happened if we didn't average 15 penalties a game too.

In all seriousness though, Texas has not faced competition, in fact if Texas didn't have Shipley it's possible that UT could have 2 losses already this season.

I say Alabama and UF, I predict Texas to beat OU but I don't see Texas having a shot against the high power SEC teams. The BIG12 is definitely lacking this season. Also let us not forget about VT, their only loss so far is to Bama and only by 10.

Lastly in case nobody noticed Tech had a total of 739 yards last Sunday. (554 Passing) Let us hope Sheffield is truly the real deal.

Same story year after year. Pretty solid defense... zero offense. If they win, it's usually because the other team couldn't score 14 points.

Sounds like my Buckeyes, we suck ass on offense. Terrell Pryor is a bust, the most overrated player coming out of high school that I can ever remember. I think it's time to see what back-up qb Joe Bauserman can do, he certainly can throw the ball much better than Pryor that's for sure. Also from the department of redundancies department we need that game breaking back. We can't throw the ball at all but we stay balanced by not being able to run it at all either.

While I agree with you about Ohio State, don't be so sure about Iowa. Iowa's offense won't scare anyone either and our defense is better. I'm pretty sure we will beat them in Columbus, Ohio in November along with Penn State and Michigan in their buildings to win the Big Ten title again and to the horror of all go to yet another BCS bowl game. :nana:

I am suffering from the Creeping Death or swine flu or something right now so everything I post may be related to fever induced delirium.

T pryor is a bust!! Thank god he turned penn state down. Clark is a much better pocket passer. I wouldnt down play iowa, their "d" is awesome. They will hang with OSU for 4 quarters. Its a matter of turnovers( case in point..penn state game). Offensively, iowa is mediocre, but Stanzi seems to make plays in the clutch. As far as beating penn state, naaaa!!! you guys are too one dimensional on offense.:flowers1:

just watched some of the mon nite game..jets/dolphins. dolphin's qb chad henne TD pass to Ted Ginn JR.......two big 10 boys made me proud

I was too busy watching Justin Smiley lead Ronnie Brown to the end zone for the victory. :thinkerg:

I think you are giving our offense to much credit we have no dimensions at all, but we have enough talent to beat any Big Ten team. I think there is a possibility that we would have negative yardage against Alabama's defense.

We went out and recruited speed at OSU, Saine can run, Pyor can run, Ray Small can run, Posey can run and there are others but, it means nothing because our O-line is still so suspect(coaching change anyone?) and our qb is a lunkhead who can't read defenses and doesn't yet understand that he's not playing in Jeanette Pa. anymore. Pryor thinks he can d!ck around behind the line of scrimmage all day like an idiot because he thinks he can out run anyone on the field, in Jeanette that was true but not in major college football.

If I was coaching my beloved Buckeyes I would make Pryor a wide receiver, he's tall and he can run like the wind, idk how good his hands are but I'll bet he would be a hell of a wideout. Then I would put another qb under center who has a clue. Also I would start Jamal Berry at running back immediately if not sooner. Berry can fly 4.3 40 speed and he runs tough from the film I've seen on him, but he will probably be redshirted soon which is stupid. It's probably a good thing I'm not the coach of my beloved Buckeyes, we would have to many recruiting violations because I would try to outbid all those good ol' boy SEC boosters and we all know they pay those boys really well at Florida and Alabama. OSU would get the damn death penalty from the NCAA and I would have to go into hiding so Buckeye fans couldn't kill me.

HAHAHA that was funny! Thanks rubbering I needed a laugh I'm on my death bed over here. Nice week in the pick-em game btw.

Get better, buddy. Oh, and don't worry about fever-induced delusion... I attribute all of my posts to being perpetually high on cough medicine. You'll probably see me on an episode of "Intervention" soon. ho0ther and TexasTitan will show up and read tearful accounts of how much I mean to them. It will make for great TV. Seriously, I hope you're feeling better soon.

Id slap you and make you fix yourself Audie Murphy style.

OK. Everyone wish us luck. (Even though it might be against many of you on here.) We have to win this. (Not to help my college pick 'em) I just want a win vs a top 10 team. Saturday 10-17-09 shall mark the fall of troy. Put up or shut up for us now.

Weis needs to go from a weis-@ss to a college coach.

Really, to win this, our defense needs to stop allowing 3-4 Hundred yds per game. Sheesh!! My 3 yr old can get that many yards in 4 quarters.

Best of luck to everyone this week...except LSU. :biglaugh:Just kidding.

You were in the navy, its not hard to be gay underway for a while. Red herring much?

Yes, every single man in the U.S. Navy is homosexual. Now you can tell everyone that it wasn't your lack of interest, honor, or bravery that prompted you to pass. Let me guess... the Marines all have tuberculosis, and you were afraid you might acquire it. And your I'm such a gun-loving, redneck jerk, and I totally hate homosexuals and San Francisco bravado isn't a red herring at all. Nope, no way.

What? You mad 'cause your Longhorns can't crack the top 10 in the computer polls? Or is it because there's now nothing much to gain by beating a 3-2 OU team on Saturday?

You were in the navy, its not hard to be gay underway for a while. Red herring much?

Hardly. You want served, try 35-7.
You want served? Watch the Texas vs Oklahoma this weekend. Big Game Bob returns. No matter how many votes Mack Brown cries for it won't matter this Saturday.

As far as your gay bashing goes, I am a homosexual man and I would love for you to stand up get in my face and crack an ignorant gay hating joke. I would break your jaw before you knew what would happen. Typical red bible belt Texas trash.

Sorry that went off on a tangent, my apologies to all others for venturing off topic.

Unlike you, I actually served my country. And yes, I get it... you'd lock me in a motel while I went through withdrawals. It was very clever.
Just wanted to let you know there are people here who respect your service. My brother is in the Air Force and I know the sacrifices it requires.

Youre not gay, it just feels good. Its not gay underway is the saying?

Actually, Im color deficient, red-green, and cant serve in any of the jobs I wanted to. Frustrating to say the least. I had a full work up done at U of H optometry school (best in Texas...yeah U of H is good at something, we are all shocked) and found I dont see green. Now because I dont, I cant pass any tests, but I can still differentiate it because its different than all the other colors. I spent about 6 months trying to get contracts for the jobs I wanted but to no avail. I came close, especially with the support of some retired SEALs, but after meeting a guy who was initially cleared, only to have his **** pulled 2 days from graduation, I decided not to enlist. I grew up in military schools, public and private, its not a foreign entity. My and my best friend were going to enlist together with SEAL contracts and now thats what he does. So yeah, I tried. OCS after school is not off the table. You know, that old rag.

And you are too far removed from real football culture, there is always something to gain by beating OU. Its a rivalry game. Cal games have less pep than a Bush War Criminal rally and butt plugging competition in berekley.

Cry about it homo. You want trash, look in Arkansas. No one even includes it in the southern states because no one wants it.

You wouldnt do ****. Ive lost enough fights and paid enough dues to not get my ass kicked anymore. Besides, hand to hand fighting is obsolete, you cant beat a .40cal. I think youre mad because you just want to **** me. Seriously, saying youll kick my ass is pathetic, I doubt your wrists would stand up to the task anyways.

Just wanted to let you know there are people here who respect your service. My brother is in the Air Force and I know the sacrifices it requires.

Quit hitting on him. I hope ending dont ask, dont tell doesnt happen. Being a veteran of a service isnt entitlement to respect.

Hit a nerve.

Anyway... I'm wondering what the "ol' ball coach" will have up his sleeve when S. Carolina comes to Tuscaloosa. Spurrier would love to win this one, and it could definitely be a trap game for Bama. Not worried about them getting up for Tennessee and LSU, but S. Carolina lacks the same appeal. I'm wondering if the Tide has completely abandoned the practice of playing down to their opponent. I sure f#%king hope so.

As for ND-USC... if the Irish don't win this year, then they'll never get it done in the Weis era. USC's offense isn't exactly stellar. Their defense is solid though, so I imagine they'll be in Clausen's face all day. My gut tells me it will be the Trojans in a blowout... but I just can't rule out the fact that the Catholic Jesus will definitely be watching this game.

All kidding and TT bashing aside... I think OU takes the Red River Rivalry in a close one. I really like Colt McCoy though, and maybe he'll come to life in a game with legit competition. As for the Sooners, they have nothing to lose... and a conference championship to gain.

Florida-Arkansas is a lot more intriguing after the Auburn game. Not because the Hogs' offense was firing... but because they finally played some defense. They're gonna need a helluva game to stay close against the Gators though. Can't see Florida's defense giving up too many more points that Bama did.

Go SEC! Roll Tide!
