13 Weeks to RPS Rawdawg Nats: Herder's PUUUGHE Comeback

We don't have to continue this , I'll leave it alone. But I thought it was a good bane and great movie. But like I said I never etched the cartoon or read comics.

Dude he did it in the movie, he also falcon punched the sht out of him. Bane was born into darkness, not adopted bro...

Who shoulda played him? The rock? Lol

All I'm saying is tom hardy is looking powerful. He gets all his authority from the traps. Did you not like the movie? It was killer IMO

Dude, if you're going to quote the movie, at least quote the fücking movie correctly. Somebody bigger than Dwayne Johnson would have been ideal, that's why Bane was a really tough decision to make into a live action movie. You need a Hafthor Bjornssen sized guy who can act as though they have an astronomical level of intelligence.

I've seen all of the Batman movies and nearly every episode of The Animated Series. The Animated Series and the Tim Burton/Michael Keaton Batman movies are my favorite. Don't argue Batman with a guy who dressed up like Batman and climbed his wardrobe only to have it collapse on him as a young child. Guys like that tend to have strong feelings about Batman.

Bane in the comics was 6'8" 350 pounds lol, Thor could've done it though; he's an actor now. (I guess he's gonna play a character in the game of thrones or something).

However, herderdude, for the Dark Knight Rises movie they did use CGI to make Tom Hardy appear larger than he was so those stats aren't accurate with how he "looked" in the movie. Plus, most people don't want to see a guy that size at all, Hollywood nowadays is all about looking like you kinda work out, but not being massive.

Edit: and I'm not sure if those stats for bane are accurate because those movies weren't based upon the comics or TV shows, but we're based upon a series of graphic novels with a much darker tone than the original comics. So, it's possible that the series the movie scripts were based upon didn't have the massive Bane character that the comics had.

Herder did you like the movie or not? Sht was epic IMO. Some little things I no like... Devil in prada girl and stuff like that. But overall man it crazy good. Bane was my favorite villain

I give it a "meh". Nothing like watching a heroic movie and coming out thinking "meh". Either give me "That was awesome!" OR "There was absolutely no storyline, but they blew the fück out of everything and threw down!" Rather too much action than wading through hours of story.

Also, since when does Batman retire and then come back? Batman's not gonna quit on fighting crime just to come back. He's not freakin Brett Favre.

I'm the opposite. I need a plot. I don't like all that transformers bulk**** when you can just blow stuff up and it's a great movie.

And he left it for robin bro. He was beat up and it's time... He may return thou. Lol at farve line

Brock lesnar might have done a good job. Not sure about acting though LOL. How about mauriusz p?

I believe in the comics when batmans back was broken by bane it was game over and then a new batman came about. Srs

I was reading about that last night. There's so much going on in a comic series running that long.

My thread has officially been Smokerized. May God help us all. Especially Smoker.

All leave the batman topic alone. Your passionate like I am to Star Wars. I swear if Disney ruins it....

Lol, I miss the caustic crud of this log, particularly when napalm is dropping.

Smoker, I will advocate for you. Fawk these angry uncles of yours. Youre exceptionally well informed of all things, particularly football, and an exceedingly bright young man. :) Though man, you're dumb as fawk when it comes to dieting for a meet. ;)

Yesterday I squatted at LA. It was a good day, Ice Cube style.

Squat (RAWWR)

405x2 PR
445x1 PR
475x1 PR

and 475 is a good starting point for my next cube cycle, because that was a long-ass grinder.

Front Squat (sit on calves at bottom)
225x3x5

Oly Squat
135x30

GM (deadlift style and squat style)
135x2x15

Bad Girl Machine
3x15 hold at contraction

Lying Ham/Seated Ham
2x10

Hack Squat (feet high and wide, tap the bottom pin and come up)
3ppsx20 This was a real test of will. Brutal. Just kept my eyes clamped shut and let the pain flow through me.

Helluva day! Super happy with getting 475. Time to press like a bro.

Excellent squatting -- too bad you had to waste it on LA. Come up north next time, and I will do my own celebrity spotting of you. ;)

Thanks, all. Felt good, felt real good. Then today was a rep upper day.

Incline Press (comp grip, touch chest, TnG)
225x10,9,9 drop to 155 got 5 reps. Next time I'll try to do 185 for 50 in three sets. Freakin reps, man. Gotta start all over again from the bottom and build into my next endeavor.

Rolling Tri/Lateral Raise
40x10/25x15
35x12, 8/25x2x15

Front Raise
plate x3x10

Facepull/Pullapart
5x10

High Pulley Rows
2x15

Short time today, went in and hit some reps on the ol' incline. Gonna try to get freakishly strong at that, too. Do 275x3x15 by December 2014. Elbow sleeves are nice, but I bought them too tight. For now I'm wearing them for my sets and can't wear them for more than a few minutes, hopefully they break in. Tricep pump from today was ridiculous. Me likey.

How smooth was the 475 PR?

Reps suck haha, but we gota do a little BBing style sometimes. I've been doing a bit more with my bench after my main 5-3-1 sets and I think it's paying off. Squats too. I need to start with deads too... but I was thinking about doing double pauses on all my warmups and then normal sets and go back down for First Set Last AMRAP. Just some days don't want to deadlift anymore than I have. I think it's the one lift you can go big or go home and leave it without the extra volume. Anyways I'm rambling.

Yeahh, definitely gotta get back to reps. I hate it anymore, but it's what must be done. This week is just a ramp down into Cube again. I'd like to find a way to get incline pressing involved, not sure which press I should take out of my rotation, because I already press all the damn time.

A really tough and strenuous undertaking but totally worth it in the end?

Something you thought would never end, and especially not end well, but it ended up working out.

Lol. Not smooth at all, NomZ

I like my reps heavy enough to be taxing but enough and with enough volume to get a good pump and bump some size. You know I dropped out OHP completely. Flat is the ONLY pressing I've done in 6 months other than an occasional DB variation, and I've made the best progress that way. But I only dropped it because of nagging injury. I'd love to do decline/incline but I don't like the setup we have for it in the power rack... but maybe I'll play with it.

I've always been a fan of the ~7 rep range for building strength and size (bench and squat. 5-7 is like the most I like for deads) and it seems to work. Definitely can't neglect the heavy weight because you need to get used to controlling it and the leverage changes associated with it, not the mention the sheer power/strength benefits and the training of the CNS.

I really live in the 3-5 range. I think 3-5 works well for me, but I need to live in the 5-8 range for a little while. I'm trying to get my strength endurance back a little, pushing the reps higher, not being a lard-ass. Haven't done much over 5s in awhile in the main movement, that's no goodski.

It's very difficult to stay tight and stable on main movements. I'm not saying to completely eschew a higher rep set on them, but assistance movements lend themselves better to the higher rep range.

Very true. I'm mostly wanting to get out of my comfort zone a little and break up the monotony of PLing training.

I agree with what Rodja is saying. I'm more or less talking about working in the normal 5-1 range like I do on 5/3/1, but then adding in some lighter sets of like 75-80% and doing some rep work. Easy to keep good tight form because the weight it lighter and get as many good reps as you can. Improve patterning and form, get a little pump and some extra growth going, and get more time spent under/over the bar and doing the movement.

Cube shirt came in today. Merry fcking Christmas to me!

I like me some volume. Pump up the jam.

Dig the shirt. Very Christmasy, like something baby jesus would don.
