been looking into some sort of lifting shoe recently. I always compete in my chucks, but perryman was saying how he loves them for squat. and i could use the little bit extra on the heel for bench to help my short legs hit my drive a little easier
 
Good job at the meet bro. It was a cool experience and that 550 pull had the crowd hyped. Sucked I couldn't stay to see you get the trophy, my buddy had to meet his roommate for a graduation thing, but that's awesome.

My goals now are to learn the Dave Tate strut and get wider than the black dude that benched 485 raw w/ opener speed.

Definitely. I can't wait to get on the platform. I'm glad I've waited a lil bit I must say. I've learned so much this past year it's incredible. It's now time to establish a total.

I told my wife that I want to get so wide that we have to renovate in the bathroom because the shower is too small.

Yeah, the last few bumps I got in PR's over the last few years (I am 55 and they do not come very often if at all) was from about a #12 gain in overall BW.
When I was in my early 20's starting out at #160, eating to gain, was actually a W/O in itself, since I did not eat McDonald's etc. and I also tended to be quite lean and lanky.
 
So, as of right now, the thing I have my eye on is the Kumite Classic. An unsanctioned meet May 24. I have time to run two Cube cycles until then. Being that it's a small unsanctioned meet, I plan on doing it with no belt and NOT cutting for it. Goal is a 1400 total with AT LEAST a 500lb squat, 365 bench, and 500lb deadlift. I'll make up the 35lbs somewhere in there.

Then, I'll try to qualify for the XPC semis. I'll need a 1485. I think relearning a belt and wraps should net me 85lbs in my squat and pull.

I'm going to try to set a true ballz out 1RM in the beltless squat on Sunday, depending on how I feel. I have a crick in my neck and a knot on my scap that I'd like to resolve or mostly resolve first. By the time I'm ready to hit that max squat, I'll have a new log up. This one has gotten quite cumbersome.

I don't have one of those high flyin mobility space machines . . . yet! My mom has a massage chair that I'm going to use. Also there's a med ball somewhere in the shed that should help.
 
I worked my scapula knot out a bit better last night. I leaned against the wall in a 45 degree angle and pushed into the ball hard. I was really able to "open" my scaps up a lot better than laying on the ground. Putting it in a sock helped friction wise too, as per Jinxie. Along with the knot, it felt like my scaps were being massaged for the first time ever.
 
So you leaned into the ball at a 45 degree angle? I could see how that would hit right on your scap as you opened it up.

Haha, I did not buy one either. I went to Lowe's and bought a 3 foot length of 3/8 cold rolled steel and bent it into a big J with a L handle on the other end. Put a big blob of duct tape at the end to make a softish ball and use it like that. Saved me like $40 bucks since the rod was like $3...!

At LEAST! Lol.

I'm telling you, I felt so horrible for squats. 480 with a light, no-stretch wrap in the warmup room was a god-awful grind. I made my squats by the virtue of excellent wrapping by Lamonster. I'm happy with my 5lb PR, but damn, if I had my legs under me, it would've been a huge day. I also wouldn't have been anywhere near 220 when I weighed in. Ah, well.

Made my bed, lying in it.

I'm glad Mike was able to grind it out and qualify, I wasn't 100% sure if he did this year.
 
Had a heavy fückaround day. Went in to squat, hit some squats, had one of the training buddies lock his back up, and called it and went on to a shïtload of benching. Hit some PRs today, and also learned that my hips are super not ready to find out what my max wrapless squat is yet. I definitely overdid the wraps this last training cycle. 95% training max next time I go into a wrapped meet cycle will serve me well.

Back day pushed back. Still worn from carrying drywall and then squatting and benching for PRs yesterday. I think I'm still in my post-meet doldrums, as well. Tomorrow I'm training first thing. By first thing, I mean we're talking the crack of noon.

God, that was funny. People wouldn't know whether to cry or wind their watch if a powerlifter with a strong back walked in there. So many douchebag shoulders, so many high squats (well, not that many people squatted). Saw a partner-assisted set of curls followed by throwing the bar on the ground.

My least favorite exercise that I see every time I'm in a commercial gym is the 3-inch shrug done by protracting the scapulae. I guess it's not their fault, since they've never seen what an actual set of traps look like, but IF THEY HAD, they'd see that the traps work to elevate and/or RETRACT the scapulae. Love when people ask how my traps got so much bigger than theirs when they shrug way more than me.
