12 Grain Bread

I eat a lot of Dempster's 12 grain bread. It is the type which is slightly darker than whole wheat in colour and it looks like it has bird seed in it. I was wondering if this is a healthy choice? Here are a list of ingredients to give you a better idea.

Ingredients: Whole Grain Whole Wheat Flours Inclunding the Germ, Water, Whole Grain Blend (Whole Grain Flax, Whole Grain Rye Flour, Whole Grain Oats, Whole Grain Sunflower Seeds, Whole Grain Wheat, Whole Grain Millet, Whole Grain Triticale, Whole Grain Corns, Whole Grain Rice Flour, Whole Grain Sesame Seeds, Whole Grain Buckwheat Flour, Whole Grain Barley), Sugar/Glucose - Fructose, Yeast, Fancy Molasses, Wheat Gluten, Vegetable Oil, Soluble Raisin Syrup, Vinegar, Salt, Whole Grain Oats, Oat Bran, Monoglycerides, Sodium Stearoyl - 2 - Lactylate, Acetylated Tartaric Acid Esters of Mono and Diglycerides, Calclium Carbonate.

its more calorie dense than normal bread, it is 130 calories per slice vs. 75 or so for normal whole wheat bread. Each slice has 2.5g fat, 5g protein, 22g carbs 3g fibre 3g sugar. Does this look like a decently healthy choice of bread? Thanks a lot for your replies.

Healthy yes, I am not sure of the GI of it. Any grain bread is healthy, good antioxident profile. If you are just trying to go as low GI as possible, Rye is always a great choice.

yea, the make up of it looks good. I would think the GI would be pretty moderate. Its probably your best bet that a 'x' grain bread, is your best choice, then whole wheat and rye.
I remember Costco used to sell a "20' grain bread. That's what's up. I think you have a good choice there.
