Drawback here is, whatever you lift the second day will be with muscles only 24 hours into recovery. So it’s not like you can get an effective second protein synthesis/recovery cycle in; you will just be training on unrecovered muscles. Which is fine for strength training only, but I wouldn’t...

Yeah he was pumped up; got his first 600 squat this week with a 605 as well. He’s a 242 guy. I was hollering for him!

KLEEN LIVING - A log about Life, Training, and Nutrition.

I’m not saying the TRX Recline or extra volume would be worthless, but I believe from N=1 that if Pullup/chin-up work is solid and you feel cooked, you got everything you really needed for lats. They’re only going to get bigger from this session!

    Building Back Up

Yeah, if you really only gain 1-2lbs that’s perfect. A lot of people say stuff like that, the come back 4-5lbs heavier, and now they’ve added a month of work for a week vacation.

Jimothy's Back (and worse than ever)

Yes, probably easier to be an Elite 181 if you could carry 16lbs more muscle. There’s always a sweetspot for a frame in that regard. Statistically, at 5’10” I am optimized to total Elite in 242 according to a chart Sheiko produced after running numbers. I can get up to 260lbs jacked to the...

No that’s raw. I mean, modern raw, not classic with wraps. Wrapped Elite is actually usually only 22-33lbs more expected to get out of them, so realistically it’s technically easier for more skilled wrapped lifters who can get more out of them than that.

    Building Back Up

Like Kleen said, if the big picture is to get and stay leaner, follow the process - it’s not a race, it’s a lifestyle adjustment that will still be required even when you reverse things. Don’t rush it now, and relax it as little as possible on vacation. I’m not saying don’t eat with the...

550/315/550 Which sound doable at 181 maybe, but dang 165 is light

Jimothy's Back (and worse than ever)

I pulled 628 in comp when I also squat 518 for a PR. I weighed something like 238. I pulled 635 this February when I squat 650, weighing mid 250s. Squat & bench are much more about both size and skill, which require development. I don’t really believe there’s anything to deadlift anymore...

I feel like you’re really trying to major in the minors here instead of seeing the forest for the trees. And boating is a verb. Car/back are nouns. Different use context

Looks like ~1,412 is what you need for a 460 DOTS under 165. All of the old USPA Elite totals were what will give you a 460 DOTS coefficient in today’s world at the top of the weightclass. You currently need a 470 to make Pro-Am meets in ABS. These were basically the most legitimate standards...

GP’s Old Man With A Plan Log

Also, on the first rep feeling slower - that’s actually why I started experimenting with what I called “2nd Set” on my deadlift. I was not going to do all the volume of 5th Set, only one top set I’d progress weekly. But what 5th set taught me is the first set with a heavy weight often does move...

GP’s Old Man With A Plan Log

I wanted to address @Dustin07 and everyone all in one place here: The last rep generally WILL slow down, often to a grind if you go to 0RIR - BUT, what I think I meant, is that you should always be pushing as hard/fast as possible. From a gas pedal perspective, you remain absolutely full...
