Another One Pins the Butt!

I don't get why he would take deca, their are other things out their that give similar benefits that clear the system much much faster.

And I hate how people say "take one look at sherk and you know he juices". That is absolute bull****. It is obvious he is genetically gifted and his physique is very attainable naturally with his work ethic and nutrition.

:trout: Well you have me convinced, we will just ignore his failed blood test on top of his crazy physique. :nono:

I still think it's odd that the International Olympic Committee uses a 0-2ng/dl range. If certain supplements would go higher, I would assume that they would account for itin their range.

Just remember that to be UFC World Champ (or even a contender, for that matter) you have to be a world-class athlete... you're a genetic freak by definition. Such physiques without juice are definitely rare, but if anybody is going to have them, it's these guys. Not saying Sherk wasn't on something, but given the unusually low level of nandralone in the test, it's still possible.

Sean Sherk (Pictures) has retained an attorney and plans to fight the allegations that he used anabolic steroids in the run-up to his July 7 title defense against Hermes Franca (Pictures). In a press release, Sherk clearly maintained his innocence although he had no immediate explanation for the positive test.

"At the present time, I cannot explain the positive drug test in Sacramento, California," stated the UFC lightweight champion. "I know that I have never used any steroids or other banned substances, and I am investigating possible causes of the positive test with my attorney. I have never cheated, and all of my success has come from hard work and dedication to my sport."

Sherk has retained Howard Jacobs of Los Angels, California to represent him in his appeal of his suspension and fine.

That appeal will be heard in Los Angeles at a California State Athletic Commission meeting scheduled for August 6 at 10 a.m. Hermes Franca (Pictures), who challenged Sherk at UFC 73 and Phil Baroni (Pictures) who tested positive after his June 22 fight with Frank Shamrock (Pictures) are also slated to have their appeals heard.

Sherk is SOL, his suspension will stand.

The CAC will not accept the individual endocrine variation from hard work and/or legal supplement use argument to overturn a testing result.

You did the crime, do the time. Do more juice for the year your off and come back bigger, stronger, faster.

Take blood test befrore your return and kick ass again.

Howard Jacobs is the lawyer that defended Marion Jones, Tim Montgomery, and i think the latest Tour de France guy (can't remember his name). He's supposed to be the top guy for this type of thing.

don't think it's possible for sherk to get any bigger to stay at 155. His BF is super low as it is. I hear he trains at around
180. But he can always improve everything else.

And is he allowed to fight in other mma leagues?

No I believe UFC has exclusive contracts with most/all fighters.

yeah, his BF is very, very low for fights. I think that's one reason why he looks so muscular. If you've seen pictures of him at non-fight weight around 175-180, he doesn't look as "big" - even though he's heavier - because there's less definition.

I'd try the Showtime event for a year.
Atleast explore that possibility.
I don't know if he can, i'm just saying look into it.

BJ Penn was stripped of his belt b/c he went over to K1 and that was when Hughes regained the title again (Sidenote: Hughes, despite defending the belt quite well once getting it, never won the belt without any controversary...check out the Newton fight if you don't know what I'm talking about!).

Now that i think about it, i think Tim Sylvia got stripped after a pos test? someone confirm, please.

Im sure that the UFC has planned the drama as they usually do around the title. Casse in point, the delayed ww bout between MH and MS.

Frankly, i think they are just doing this to set up MH to get the belt again from Serra. I dont think its going to be as easy for him as before, especially if he attemps to stand as he did with GSP II.

If I could neg rep, lol...I miss the Newton of old via Newton vs Sakuraba. His fight in the IFL was awful/sad though.

They have to strip the title since Sherk can't fight for a year.

What's up Beo?

Yep sylvia had his title taken when he tested positive a while back.

Ronin Record: 13-12. Granted he has fought some tuff guys back in the day, but the only thing close to impressive is the win over Pat Militich.

The last two IFL fights did indeed suck. I changed the channel and it was on TV and when i was BORED.

I knew you threw that sherk plug in to make me feel bitter, and it worked! :trout: lol

What about an interim belt until things are settled? That might be an option as well, but you make a great point.

Dana imposes slap on the wrist to figthers testing positive.

Speaking with ESPN The Magazine's Ryan Hockensmith, UFC president Dana White said he intends on "putting the b---- slap on guys who get caught using steroids from here on out."

Saying it was "on my lap" to stand up to the problem of steroids in mixed martial arts, White articulated his plan of withholding bonus checks for fighters until tests came back showing a clean result.

"What else am I going to do? Kick these guys' asses?" White told Hockensmith. "You want to drag these guys and their families into the center of town and stone them? What else can you do? Their lives are f---ed. They lose their ability to make a living for a year. At the end of the day, these guys are stupid for doing steroids."

If a fighter is caught, said White, he will still be paid the purse guaranteed by his contract. The UFC president made no mention of a UFC-mandated suspension for guilty fighters.

Currently the UFC relies on the regulatory body of the state it's promoting in to not only test fighters for banned substances, but to hold them accountable should they get caught with something illegal in their system, though White said the UFC independently tested fighters on the June 16 card in Belfast, Ireland; no tests returned positive.

White also said he would convene a two-day seminar for "top-level guys and all of our midtier guys" focusing on issues affecting fighters, including drugs, following the Sept. 22 UFC card in Anaheim, Calif.
