i don't really max ever, just because of the fact that it does nothing for me, as far as growth.

now is BB bench or DB bench better for growth or does that vary from person too? i do BB about 80% of the time and switch it up every once in a while to DB's.

damn man go away for half a day and miss 3 pages of progression... chad your threads are filled with more general convo then info but at least its always fun and movin.... now to the above qoute...

i think your right to an extent that maxing wont necessarily help general growth BUT i feel that directly training for a desired liftto up your max will in the end help out that same body part AND make it so in the end higher weight can be used for reps and more growth can occur..... plus its just damn cool to be f'in strong and throw out huge numbers. :head:
 
i use db's about 90% of the time,and i was always pleased in progression??

dude until last week when i hit 300 on the bench to see where my max was i hadnt touched BB for 2 years, i def feel that DB's bring more general development and growth but if you hit a platau on db's im sure reverting to bench and working on your overall strength sure as hell wouldnt hurt you DB lifts as lon gas you mixed it up... thats what im basically doing now to try and raise my max

Ever since I started lowering my volume, keeping intensity the same: HIGH, I've been making gains. I'm talking 2-3 sets for chest max. 2-3 sets for legs.

its funny though for the most part what i use for my general workouts or for a different goal its always what seems to make sense to me, then i always come to find they are tried and true methods in the end... guess im doin something right.

Yup, scaling back the volume does wonders huh? A lot of times all it takes is tweaking back either Volume, Intensity, or Frequency to see new results. That, and of course changing exercises from time to time.

Who agrees with me that when you say how much you "bench" it should be the number that you can rep for a set? (8-10 reps)

well when people ask me i ask them that queation. do you wanna know what i rep or what i max. sometimes the rep number is more impressive.
 
It ALWAYS means your max.

That being said, no one ever asks what you Squat or what you Deadlift.

well noone on the street or just joe schmo but youll get that question all the time here as its a core powerlift..... like i said though no one on the street will ask ya though...

and i def think if someone asks what you bench it should be your highest weight you hit in one or 2 reps....

although you can say i hit 225 17 times and see what they say (i can do that easy but for my max its only 75 more lbs :think:) but 3C will put a more wide eyed look on their face...
 
oooooooh-oooooooh :yawn: nice... dunno how it compares there but its def damn nice at 8cc's and 12cc's is nearly impossible to even try to stay awake on.... just plan on feeling drunk when you wake up.

DB's are tight for sure...but its the perfect mixture that brings 100% results:trout:

im sorry sizing up fat kids and chads ability to kick theyre asses is def training related and if you disagree then you just might be a fat kid yourself and will probally be sized up soon as well........
