I just meant the pencil part. Well if you go back thru it, he originally posted it with no instructions at all other than the

then later he asked if anyone "figured out my post above". He did try to tell us it wasn't what he would call a scramble quite a few times.

In the end it was the julius ceasar clues that got me there

The 8X8 is what did it for me! I was in bed and actually went back downstairs when it hit me right before I fell alseep!!!

the caesar clue's totally wasted my time
being able to compare the old string and his modified one is what I think helps the most
if you just looked at the groupings of letters that changed and the spacing at which they occurred, then the 8x8 thing made it pretty obvious
