old powerFull and carbs

Never enough
I understand that the bulk powerFull that NP sells basically only gives its HGH boost when not eaten within a reasonable amount of time of eating carbs. My main question is about thresholds - how many g of carbs in the same time frame is ok? I'm not talking about a primary carb food, but something like for instance Pro Dessert which has 4g of incidental carbs from the casein along with its 25g of proteins. Is that enough to trip up a gram of powerFull and reduce the HGH effect? The related question is dosage, does taking a higher dose in an instance like this help? or does just the presence of carbs pretty well negate the powerFull regardless of dose? also, do sugar alchohols count?

the main reason I ask this is that there are some products (such as the pudding, or even just whey isolate) that would be nice to mix either the midday or nighttime dosage of powerFull into, but some have trace carbs.

I've still seen some variation on recommended dosages for bulk powerFull. I've seen anywhere from 800mg to 2g anywhere from 2-3x daily. I think I'm getting results from 1g 3x daily (even spread 8 hrs apart), but was wondering if its beneficial to go higher. Even though its inexpensive, no point in wasting it. So whats a good dose for a 205# 39yo male? And is there value to using a higher bedtime dose whether for HGH levels or for sleep benefits?

Studies showing the GH blunting utilized 100 grams of glucose (if I remember correctly) so I think it is reasonable to assume a few grams of carbs would be negligible in effect. Personally, I allow a few carbs close to dosing and still get the sleep benefits but without lab tests it would be foolish of me to say for sure that there is no detriment.

Sugar alcohols are metabolized quite differently than carbs and should be of no concern in this regard.

If nothing else, I would at least raise the pre workout and pre sleep doses to 2 grams. You will like it. :)

Super. I haven't seen 100g of carbs in the last week I dont think so I'm ok ;) Sugar alchohols not counting is even cooler, leaves tons of possibilities in terms of low carb food/desserts to give some slow digesting proteins for the nite dosage. Actually alchohols in general, I think i'm going to slip some into my wife's next strawberry/bannana daquiri ;)

I tried 1.5g yesterday bedtime, and could tell the difference, but only took 1g pre-workout today. I'll go up to 2 for tonite and friday's strength routine.

Thanks!

OK, so try to avoid high amounts of carbs around the dosing of PowerFULL? That would be difficult, I would think. If I take it upon waking, pre workout, and pre bed, the only time I could see me avoiding carbs for a while would be the pre bed dose.

I think its timing + quantity related, so taking the powerfull on an empty stomach, and giving at least 30-60 minutes before getting down high quantities of carbs (say over 60-75g) probably changes what happens significantly. The study was with 100g of carbs which if you are in the 6 meal a day plan is just about a full meal with no protein or fat by itself, so half that probably has much less effect.
