canada shipping increase?!

To get around taxes & duty fees you should ship them as a gift, this will also speed up shipping time as packages shipped as gift are rarely held at customs.

I want to place an order worth $169.83, which consists of 6 bottles of pills and a book.
When I go to check out I am given 4 options, are all of these options available if I'm ordering from Canada ?

I'm just wondering if I can choose the Priority Mail International option for $18.60 ?

United States Postal Service

Priority Mail International (6 - 10 Days) $18.60
Express Mail International (EMS) (3 - 5 Days) $26.75
Federal Express (Recommended)
International Economy (4-5 Days) $43.11
International Priority (1-3 Days) $47.25

That's about the same shipping cost as my last order came to. I used the internation priority option and received my package in about 2 weeks with no problems.

Sounds good, did you have to pay any taxes, duty, or customs fees when it came to your door ?

This is what I'm going to order as soon as 3-AD becomes available.

ALRI CR2
ALRI Jungle Warfare
ALRI Bad Ass Mass
AX Advanced post cycle therapy
AX 3-AD

This time out I was lucky and didn't have to pay any extra fees. However, as previously mentioned, it's a roll of the dice on international orders as to whether or not you'll have to pay duty/customs/taxes.

Everything I've ever ordered comes right to my door, but there are times I've had to pay taxes & duty. This is ordering from BB.com, but I've heard from a few people that they haven't had to pay any taxes or duty on their orders from NP.

Kids, there will never be a Canadian warehouse for np because Canadian NHPD regulations are quite strict and require npn numbers for each product. I can assist in that, but it costs about $5000 per product for approval.

I used to work for a large supp company where I was responsible for Regulatory Affairs. I am acutally quite suprised that I am able to recieve everything I order from np. In time though, it will become quite difficult to import supplements from other countries.

I just thought I would rebump this as it's pertinent to the USP Canadian Distributorship issue brough up before. This is what is hampering us, as a large amount of red tape goes into acquiring NPN's, and funds as stated.

I always get my package under 2 weeks, usually 1. Never pay tax.

What happened to ground or airmail usps shipping??

The prices are simply crazy now, yesterday I ordered for my sist's bf and we actually ....
60 bucks for shipping on a 160 bucks order o_O

What USP should do is have a canadian co packer for their products and do some to some change to the labels' claims. Its still risky though.

Yeah, I did the same last week. I got 5lb ON 100% whey for 39.99 and it's almost the same price at NP in US dollars. Plus I get free shipping in Canada and don't have to wait 2 weeks to get my order. I guess the price increase of whey hasn't hit canadian distributors yet.

For items I can't find in canada I'll definitely be ordering from NP though. I'm surprised we are finally getting canadian stores selling things like Jungle warfare, BAM, Hyperdrol X2, AP, 11-OXO, etc.

seriously look into the deal trueprotein has with UPS. the way they do it , we never have to pay a cent for brokerage or customs and is quick (under a week) , with tracking number and economical !!!!!!

Here's my most recent order:

Hyperdrol X-2 (120 capsules)$49.95
Mass FX (120 caps)$42.95
Sub Total: $92.90
United States Postal Service (Priority Mail International (6 - 10 Days)) (0.65 lbs): $17.30
Total: $110.20

USD ---> CAD = $ 117.67 CAD + Customs $7.75 = Total: 125.42 CAD

They open my packages at customs everytime for some reason.

P.S thanks Sam / NP for the beanie / tshirt ( even though it won't fit me as it's a large :(, but I"m still greatful )

I have ordered a lot at NP and they have great prices and service, but since the shipping prices got so high I find myself forced to order from other companies that have more reasonable international shipping rates (to Europe).

Funny thing is the good prices combined with the good USPS shipping rates is what got me to NP the first time, after having always ordered at one fast fourhounderd.

I just had an order shipped by UPS expedited from a supp company in the US on Wed. The shipping cost was $11.50 for a 2lb package and the tracking info says it will be delivered tomorrow --- that's 3 business days! I can't imagine Sam finding a better deal on small packages for us canadians than something like this. The taxes/duties are likely to add to the shipping, but there's ways for NP to minimize these ;)

If you've never had anything shipped to Canada from the US via UPS before, you may be in for a big surprise bro. UPS will often charge something called "brokerage fees" and this amount is usually pretty ludicrous. I was once charged over $30 for an order that contained 7lbs. of protein. They can't even tell you exactly how they come up with this amount but I think it has something to do with filling out some customs paperwork on your behalf...whatever it is, I was not happy.

You'll be fortunate if the brokerage charge you get hit with by UPS is less than what the original shipping charge was. Unless the shipper has already agreed to pay all UPS border fees, you'll have to provide payment up front for the extra charges, including duty, handling fee, gst, brokering fee, etc.

trueprotein ships using UPS and we never pay a cent extra, that's what I have been trying to say! NP should look into that

I believe True Protein is paying the extra costs themselves. I'm not sure whether that's economical for Nutraplanet or not.

My tracking says adverse weather conditions have delayed my package by 1 day. So, I won't know until after the long weekend what the astronomical brokerage fees will be. I've lucked out with UPS and only had to pay $10 or $12 a few times and the company did not charge me for the original shipping cost. But I also ordered 2 tubs of EvoPro from another company a year ago and had to pay $35 in brokerage fees. I like the system TP has going though.

$35 seems to be the magic number when it comes to UPS' brokerage fees for some reason...I got hit with that a couple of times give or take a couple of bucks.

Seriously I have ordered various other things from places in the states and paid betweek 2.55 - 6.50.

I think the thing that is killing the planet is their use of big bulky packaging / boxes. Let me state again:

  1. Get rid of the large bulky boxes / product containers
  2. Send all powders ( within reason volumen wise ) in vacuum packed strong plastic packets
  3. Send all my lil packets etc in a strong plastic / fibre mesh inlayed plastic bag
  4. 9.99 to Canada, how about that?
  5. I basically have a bunch of NP old product containers here that I can use, I recycle pretty much everything that you guys send me, it's such a waste of money and resources!

    Shipping is killing me.... :duel:

It is weird. USPS Priority Mail International for a 1 lb package from NP costs more than a USPS Priority Mail International for a 5 lb package I just ordered elsewhere (no, not supplements :p)

I've made a lot of orders (not supplements) from the US lately and the $17.30 is the USPS rate for orders that have tracking. It pretty much starts at this amount.

However, if Sam were to use the USPS option that doesn't have a tracking number, the rates are much lower for these kind of small packages. Over the last couple months, I've got around 10 of these envelops from the US that don't have tracking using USPS and they usually cost between 6$ and 8$ USD. They arrive just as fast as the boxes I get from NP as well. Maybe NP just doesn't feel comfortable without the tracking?

sorry to revive my thread, been gone a while. but in response the usps nontrack actually has tracking. use the usps Lc...# in the usps system and you can track it, then when it reaches canada you can use that number in the canada post system

gone for a while? it's been like a freaking year, lol!

there's no way shipping should cost $17 (which is a freaking box with tons of cushion filler) for one little bottle. this is just plain out raping us Canadians. Nutraplanet CAN look into other shipping rates, but they won't. and now with the canadian dollar dropping, we are going to be paying 10% more than usual.

I hate to say it, but nutra is losing a lot of business from canadians by not offering cheaper rates.

Nutraplanet CAN look into other shipping rates, but they won't.

Please refrain from saying things you have no knowledge of. We are always trying our best to help ALL our customers, not just our American customers. Another thing I did not see any mention of in this thread is the further away from the boarder you are, the higher shipping will be to Canada. We are almost a far south as possible being located in Ga. Unfortunately this effects rates too.

i for one, would like to say i love nutra. i have never had such good service... BUT i live in western canada close enough to border and have ordered from florida the absolute other southern side of the states for under 10$. for canadians it makes more sense to buy 1-2 bottles of product at a time at 10$ shipping rather than 6 products at 20$ BECAUSE
1. it makes it through customs waaaay easier this way
2. if seized losses are minimal and we can order again, and again, = greater chance of success= happier canadians

this is not a flame nutra thread, it is simply saying that us canadians would be overjoyed if you would use a plain package for 1-2 bottle orders instead of a box like many other companies who are now (undeservingly) stealing your business.

I WANT to be at nutra, but this way i cannot afford it, it is actually cheaper to shop here in canada... that is crazy talk! :)

I live very close to the border, and am paying the same rates. I'll pay more at NP because their prices are lower, and my packages never get seized :)

moklepaul: i disagree about the low prices, but agree about service and seizure. as far as prices go nutra has a lot more quality options with bulk products and such that can come out a lot cheaper, and greater variety.

that being said after i put a couple cissus, a powerfull, and some java soap in the cart shipping equals 26 us$ or 30 $ can!

that order can be split up into two 7.99$ orders elsewhere with even less chance of seizure = 16$ shipping.

My point since i started this thread a year ago:

give us a small package usps shipping option, and use the lc# that comes with it to track. a plain jane brown parcel holding 1-2 bottles at a time.

i think back over a year ago i spent like 600 bucks at nutra over a few months... i am sure other canucks have too. doesn't loosing this amount of $ over a full year now regularly hurt their profits?

--> thats the last i will say about it, thats all I and many many others who have pm'ed me and posted here want. otherwise i will buy from nutra when i need bulks/unique products i cannot get elsewhere

I believe you misunderstood Verner's comments about being close to the border. NutraPlanet, not the customers, is located very far from the Canadian border which makes it expensive to ship on our end.

If my Canadian brethren can PM me more information about the other shipping methods/carriers used, I'll try and look into it more. I can't promise anything except that I'll try.

yep, i said i ordered from florida which could not be further from my house, much further than nutra for under 10$.

i really dont understand the confusion take 2 minutes to read my last posts. the fact you missed my florida comment and shipping methods used by other companies tells me you never even bothered to read what i wrote!

my inbox is flooded with people asking for different sites to go ro buy things at. absolutely flooded, and since absolutely nothing has been done since i started this last year i will be telling them where they can go. obviously canadian customers are not even worth the time it takes to read a few posts.

for a super patient guy heavily involved in these forum for years now, who LOVES nutra you guys are really stretching me thin here.

The only time I purchase anything from here is when there's a sale that's really worth while... say the 35 dollar bulk xfactor. but even then it comes to over 50 dollars.

I'd love to support Sam because I honestly thinks he's a good guy. Unlike the shady folks at "Bee Bee dot com"

But for one bottle orders, I go else where. I just don't see why Nutraplanet has to send one bottle in such a large box. It feels like I'm paying for all those weight cushions inside of the box.

And with the canadian dollar falling to close to 0.80, it's not even worth it since, 35 for a bottle, 18 dollar for shipping, and %15 on top of the final checkout price from converting into canadian dollar.

i've gotten packages from other Continents for 10 dollars, just sayin'

im not saying the shipping is bad, but it could be better for the one bottle orders. im just glad the shipping isn't a complete ripoff like ahem tnation ahem
