Grace period following a break-up

Everyone has a different philosophy, but I was wondering what people here like to follow. For example, I broke with my GF three weeks ago (we were together for about 6 months) and I am thinking about dating another girl that I met a few days ago. Too soon, doesn't matter?????:think:
 
As long as you think you've moved on from that previous relationship, you've gotton some things out of your system like rooting around, then I cant see why not, unless you still talk about her or the relationship with your mates.

I still talk about her and I know that I need to move-on. I am the type of person that until a something new is introduced in my system, I constantly think about the past. Do I still miss her, yes, but I refuse to become emotionally stagnant again.
 
Don't date her yet. Tell her you would like to take it slow out of respect for your previous girlfriend. The girl will know she has found a gentleman, unless you are completely lying your ass off to her.

That is how I was going to approach the situation, but I was curious to hear how long most would wait to even think about going on a date with another girl.

Plus, I am still pissed at my ex-GF for breaking up with me about 10 days before my fight. There was no argument or anger that caused the break-up; it was purely theological.
 
It would be diffrent for everyone each time, but I would guess 2 months, going into the relationship now would sort of jepodise its chance of becoming serious. But on the other hand in some situations it might not be good to leave things for too long, so taking it slow is an option, but make sure you vent things elsewhere and not on your new girl.

I usually vent to my friends because we have all hung out together on several occasions. They were more surprised than I was when I told that we had broken up.
 
Also with chicks aswell, sometimes if a chick breaks up with a guy, the guy wants to do something simular to another chick, so having some girls on the side for now until things get serious might not be a bad idea.

I have no ill feelings towards her. I actually hope that we can be friends in a few months and I sent a thank you card to her parents for letting me stay there and feeding me on several occasions.

When I first met my wife, she said that if I didn't believe in God, that I was going to Hell. I said, "Did anybody run this rule by God or did the humans just come up with it without his input. Born again Christians

One of my girlfriends broke up with me one day by saying, "I think we just need some time apart from each other, she was in her room and started crying as she was telling me this. She had been acting weird and started playing head games about 1 week before she dropped this on me. I very calmly told her "That's cool, I'm ok with that." We hugged and I walked downstairs where her Mom asked me what happened? Her Mom and I were joking around about something my girlfriend did, I forget what. She didn't think it was funny and hauled ass to her room. So I told her Mom that she wanted time apart from me, gave her a hug and left.

That girl came back down to the beach that very next summer scoping my ass out. She showed up at my Parents summer house 2 nights in a row, 3 am, drunk off her ass wanting to come in the house. I was stupid the first night and let her in but nothing happened, the second night she called from outside and I kept my mouth shut this time. Both nights she peeled out in the shell driveway. She's lucky she didn't get multiple DUIs. Honor student:think:

Women are a different breed for sure. Walking hormone generators. I'm married to a great but sometimes wacky woman now. When I say wacky, I mean she'd give you a good run in the ring crazy at times. They all are to some extent. Handle them like fine china and purchase wisely my friend.
 
Nothing happened cause of you, or nothing happened cause of her?
Not surpising she came back, best thing to do when a girl wants a break is act cool and dont call them again.

Nothing happened because of me and that's exactly what I did. I don't tolerate games and neither should anyone else, unless you're feeling sporty....

Good man, stay the course.

Do things at your own pace, and don't rush into anything. When you are ready you will know it, but in the mean time don't force anything. Also, before you start anything serious with someone new make you u have 100% made up your mind about how you feel and what you want to do with your ex.

I like that saying, it depends on you as a person.......go slow, and enjoy and things will work themselves out...:)

I'm glad you guys and girls like that comment. I didn't learn that overnight and I still forget at times to go with my own advice. I think it comes down to understanding the opposite sex first, and then allowing them to do what they do.

Alot of women like to shop, alot of men don't like to shop. Alot of guys burp, alot of women don't like when guys burp. When she comes over to your place after shopping all day, trying stuff on etc...at least pretend to be interested, even if you're not. "Hey that looks good with those shoes" She'll melt.
When he starts opening beer bottles with his teeth, smile and have him open yours as well. "I'm so glad you got that dental insurance you big bucked tooth moron." See relationships are fun.

I would take it slow with the new one, but I wouldn't necessarily say it's out of respect for your ex. Take it slow because it's the right thing to do for yourself and the right thing to do by the new girl. Take it slow out of respect for yourself and her, not your ex. The past is your past, the future is what deserves your attention and respect.

This is good advice. Very true, Yea, I got mixed up. If you would have broken up with your Ex then it may be more appropriate.
