Confronting/turning in my GFs drug dealer

I found out my GF has been taking methadone. She is getting it from one of her friends. This is the only person she knows that she can get it from. I know who this person is but she does not know me. I was thinking about calling her and telling her that if she gives my GF any more methadone I am going to the cops. Or maybe I should just go to the cops. What do you guys think?
 
Confront your girlfriend first. If she doesn't want to quit then you could do what you want but she will just find another source.
 
Its a tough decision. I'd be scared if I went to the cops my girl would get in trouble to. The main thing is to stay calm and keep a clear head wich you seem to be doing. Hopefully someone will chime in with a good idea for you.
 
IMO you need to work on this with her so she wants to stop. If she is hooked on this and you bust her source she will be mad at you even though you are trying to help her.

I wouldnt tell the cops. A) its a good way to wind up dead B) if she wants the drugs she wants the durgs. If you love something, set it free.

Waaayyyyy too many factors to give a specific response....

Here is my take on the situation.....I'll be blunt...

Methadone is no joke, and I 'd guess that she didnt start at meth, one graduates to meth...or maybe shes a newbie and uses for kicks.....

How often is she using..? how..? how long..? how old is she..?

Calling the source wont stop her...or callin the cops...The girl isnt at the top of the chain...bringin heat to her brings heat to someone else, so make sure you think it through....I wouldnt if I were you...

Youre becoming not only an enabler, but co-dependent....
Its a B**cH of a roller coaster....

Do you love her...?

Me, I'd walk, no run, from her....Unless I knew for sure that my heart wasnt involved, which I'm guessin yours is, so no chance of that...

Do you use, or have you in the past...?

Everybody comes to your life for a reason...figure out why you invited her....
 
Do not call the cops. Depending on the amount of Methadone present, the state of its division (i.e., how it is seperated), the dealer is either going to get possesion of a Schedule I Substance (or w/e the equivalent is in the States) or Possesion for the Purpose of Distribution. Either way, unless they are a flight risk or have priors, and especially if it is a small, singularily bagged amount, they will be booked and released fairly quickly. That lines you up for an ass beating or worse. Point is, your gf chooses to go to that person, and the means your beef is with your girl.
 
well its not really a drug dealer, its her stupid ho girlfriend. So I am not worried about an ass beating. And I was thinking about making an anoymous tip...

She is 23...she used heroin years ago but got clean.

I don't do drugs. I used to smoke pot but stopped years ago.

I don't see how I am being an enabler? I'm trying to do everything I can to stop it...trying to get her into NA.

Like I said, her girl aint at the top, where is the girl gettin it..?

But thats not the focus...You thinkin that stoppin the girl from givin your girl the meth will get her clean....Not gonna happen....Its nobody fault but her own (your girls)....

Does she have family...? You could try an intervention...Noone quits till they are ready...did she hit bottom..? She may stop, but she wont quit till shes had enough consequences....Or she'll act like she quit and use behind your back....

It's most likely gonna get worse before it gets better, then get worse agian, (roller coaster)....

Read some on co-dependency and addiction.....Enablers always think they are trying to help, and they are (trying to help), but they are only making matters worse....You cant save someone from themself....

Again, why did you invite her into your life...?

Well you would haveto worry about your GF's dealer's dealer, not your GF's dealer, I wouldnt consider getting the cops involved but thats just me. Personally 1st I would do everything I could on your GFs end, and if that doesnt work then I would confront the dealer in person calmly without any threats.

But ultimately I definetly agree with Mulletsoldier "Point is, your gf chooses to go to that person, and the means your beef is with your girl."
 
I think you all are confusing Methadone, with Methampheatimine.

Someone usually doesnt graduate to methadone, rather regress from Heroin. It is a know drug to relieve withdrawl of heroin. But consequently has its own hang ups.

If they are dealing to your GF, they are dealing to whoever wants it... a little anonymous tip is my advice.

heroin...man I'd run for the hills as fast as possible... You dont need someone like this in your life who has a tendency to gravitate towards drugs... think about this 10 years down the road when you have lots more to loose financially and emotionally...
 
I've never heard of methadone used recreationally. I know ex addicts get it legally for life. Maybe you should have your gf get it the legal route. Then every morning she would get to go to the methadone clinic and wait in line for her daily dose.

Not to mention that if you snitch all that will happen is that she'll find someone who can deal it to her again. There's millions of drug pusher-men out there, all waiting for jobs. You really think that taking one is the answer?

So don't take any?? You logic is flawwed. By your regard, you are saying just let the drug machine run, uninhibited. My personal opinion, but heroin, cocain, and amphetamine do not have any place in society.

I am not saying that taking down one will not deter others, but it sure won't dissuade his girlfriend if that's what he's hoping. I'm all for the War on Drugs, brother, but I think this guy has different intentions other than a Drug-Free America in mind.

Not to mention that extremist drug-haters like to add Anabolic Steroids to their list. So I wouldn't jump the guns too quickly around here about that.

Yep...my mistake....

Something doesn't add up here.....Like the guys said, you can get it for free (methadone) and it is/should be doc regulated, so why is she gettin it from her girlfriend...? And why did she just decide to tell you now...?

See.. that is where we differ... The "War on drugs" is a failed campaign, and needs to be rethought completely. There are some I agree with, and some I do not. I never said I completely agree with the W.O.D. And as for lumping anabolics in there, I think they should remain how they are. Giving them to the general public will in turn screw some people up in the long run, and they will have an even bigger black eye.

Neither did I but if the idiots up on Capitol hill properly thought about what they were doing I would agree with it as well.

I'm gonna stop talking about this, though, because we're derailing this guy's thread, and he really needs help.
 
Arm yourself, information, emotional support, family, friends. IF you love her help her get better, leaving someone with a drug addiction will only make them worse, nip it in the butt before it gets crazy. My buddy busted his GF smoking crack... he goes livid and does anyhting he can to get throught to her this is not OK behaviour, her response "let me live my life" what to do...... do what you can nothing else is expected of you. god speed, best of luck, you need all the help she can get.

Cant make anyone get better, or help them get better...You can offer your support....They have to help themselves....

Leaving an addict can serve as a consequence that aids in recovery if its framed correctly....Offer to support her through her recovery, not support thru addiction (co-dependency/enabling)...

The only person who has the power to "nip it at the bud" is the addict...

Agreed, sometimes sadly people need to hit rock bottom, and there isen't a thing to be done..
