The Biggest Smont ever! šŸ¤” Lets find out

When I was drunk I just ignored everything, alcohol is literally my superhero fuel for everything in life except for being healthy and responsible lol
That’s the unfortunate part of alcohol and exactly why people become alcoholics. It can mask the issues and you feel better at first. Then when you realize you’ve created another problem sometimes it’s too late. I’ve always been a social drinker and would have a glass of bourbon or two during the week. But since I’ve retired and started competing in powerlifting I’ve pretty much quit drinking. I’ve literally had four glasses of bourbon since June. I didn’t even drink at Christmas. I didn’t do it on purpose. It just happened.

I haven't had a drink in probably 3 years or so. I have a lot of alcoholics in my family and I was like it's just not even worth drinking so I stopped completely.

no I get that, I think I'm likely the same way whereas tension, anxiety, panic etc could all be cured short term with alcohol, but then if I'm not careful what I have noticed is hypertension next day, MUCH higher BP, and then you get the anxiety etc, which of course is easily cured with alcohol.

I guess where you and I are different though is when I go dry for even as little as a few days or week I feel like the anxiety is less and less (zero now), and my BP is fantastic. Alcohol, lowers BP acutely and makes it worse long term for obvious reasons. I actually enjoy making my own now and the irony is that I drink far less. its like a wine maker who takes sips to appreciate the craft but no longer throws down a bottle of $5.99 table wine every night for the sake of getting drunk.

yeah my buddy got really big into bourbon a couple years ago and we found we could order it online from a couple places for half of what we pay in WA and for some reason they don't charge us the commie tax (30%) that wa does. so now I have this giant collection thats sitting there unopened like a big pile of beanie babies lol. Last bottle I ordered with him he goes, OK pour me a sample when that comes in. (we have sample jars that are like 4oz that we would use to fill and bring each other for blind testing) and I'm like..... well... if I open it, lol. I just like the pretty bottles of brown liquid I have so many I'll never even open.

My wife and I both do on both sides of the family and we saw it kill some people unfortunately, and very young, like 59yrs old. My grandpa may have survived his fall if not for the alcohol. so we frequently go on dry spurts etc. we are very very aware of our consumption for that reason. when we were in the yacht club locally we realized its actually just a drinking club. a bunch of retired folks, half of them actually have boats, but all of them drink like fish till midnight and it wasn't really a scene that matched our goals for health and lifestyle.

Drinkers with a boating problem

Well, you gotta take it all the way if you want alcohol to cure your anxiety. You gotta maintain a slight buzz all day without passing out, then you gotta power through the work day nursing the hangover and start drinking right after work again. If your always drunk or about to have a drink, you don't give anxiety enough time to show it's face.

Next time, drink harder! šŸ˜‚

Congrats on quitting alcohol!!!

A lot of ppl use booze or benzos for their anxiety and actually make it worse. All those do is delay. Then comes the rebound. I know personally rebound anxiety is worse. So as you and others said, you drink more to keep that away. Longer you play this game you get addicted.

I'm in my 11th year of recovery. Refreshing to come on here today and see you actually stopped. Not just drink less. That is hard. Keep up the great work and lifts! šŸ’Ŗ

People do it with weed too, and nicotine. Both shown to increase anxiety longterm (despite strong acute benefits for many). I have better blood pressure than some girls I know in their early 20s, while being double their bodyweight & on steroids.

All the pens & vapes make it easier than ever before to use too chronically through the entire day. And harder to quit when it’s getting out of hand.

ahahaha true true.
when my younger buddy had a heart attack at age 40 he kept his blood pressure sleeve at work so he could check it 2-3x per day and I'd do the same for fun. I could see how a small amount of alcohol the night before would bump up bp and hr noticeably the next day. not drinking, i'd be back to good bp levels and rested hr hitting 40s-50s where I like it.

i wish more people could see that and understand the effect alcohol has on the heart. I'm not perma dry, and I commend and respect your choice to stay dry, but like I did mention my wife and I very aware of consumption, we see it as wasteful calories and choose our times to have a drink pretty carefully.

thats one of the reasons I tried really hard to get through panic/anxiety attacks naturally, I had read too many bad stories with meds.
People do it with weed too
I hate this and its true. I have a dear friend who truly in my opinion would never qualify as an alcoholic but he embarrased himself drinking enough to have his son drive him home and switched to weed but he's high as a kite 24/7 and I feel like we have lost him as he's basically permafried. He can be a joy to be around at times when he's high, but even that is like a 1 out of 5 occurrance. generally, he's just glazed over and unengaged now days. but I'm talking about a guy that pounds a 100mg drink while smoking a joint and popping gummies all day. as far as I know thats like pounding a fith of bourbon while drinking a beer and doing shots all day. I don't know how he does it.

That's why I've avoided the benzos. I have a bottle of phenibut and a bottle of pyrazolam that have both been open for 2 or 3 months and I've used two doses of each over the course of 3 months. Days when I was thinking to myself this is the worst ever I got to do something or I'm going to have to go to the hospital lol. I don't have a lot of days like that but every so often I do. Pyrazolam is supposed to be like Xanax with a longer half life or very similar to Xanax I should say with a longer half life. Supposedly it tapers out of your system over the course of 24 hours or so and it doesn't hit hard and gone in 4 hours like Xanax so it's a lot harder to get withdrawals from it. Phenibut is also supposed to be a little more mild than the benzos but still does pose a risk for withdrawals.

I don't know if I'll ever take them again though, and I'm actually glad that the reason why is because I didn't notice them doing that much if anything at all. If one of those was the magic Band-Aid like I was hoping it was ...... I probably would have made a doctor's appointment and got a RX for something.

I am looking for some kind of drug but it's gotta tick these 3 boxes.

1. It has to carry a very low risk or no risk for dependency issues.

2. It can't have any negative effects on sexual performance

3. It also can't negatively affect me in the gym

This takes pretty much everything out of the picture, but I still have a little bit of hope that maybe one of the beta blockers will tick those three boxes. Most of the beta blockers have a negative impact on gym performance and make you tired, but some of them on paper do not, or have significantly lower incidence of those side effects.

The elevated heart rate and never-ending train of thoughts is what I need to slow down. If it does those two things I don't care if it does anything else I'm happy with that as long as I can still go to the gym and bang my girl whenever I want

U still smoking cannabis?

I take some Mercedes Benzos from time to time (prescribed)....but i try to limit to a couple times a week

U still smoking cannabis?
Yes, I should probably take a break, it's been a while since I did. During October and November I was using much less than I normally did because I was doing a lot of boxing and legit trying to get small. I backed off the smoking weed just to get my lungs a little better and no edibles or nothing.

Weed is like a double edged sword. If I have the ability to smoke and relax it works very well but I also need to be in a situation where people let me relax or it can have the opposite effect. Typically I don't get anxious from THC, but excessive use definitely does cause a uptick and anxiety over time.

I'm going to switch it back to the log for a minute, just to let you guys know that today's workout absolutely sucked. Leaving work I smashed my arm into a weird shaped door knob and f***** my whole left side up. It's not bad but it's basically like a big bruise.

I did some box squats and I was only up to about 200 lb when I noticed my lower back felt a little funky so I said **** you and went over to the leg press. I did 4 sets of 20 with the last one being pretty close to failure at 22 reps. Then I did four or five sets of stiff leg deadlifts with 165 lb. Went to do some weighted chin UPS and my arm wasn't having it so I did body weight for four sets of eight, two sets of 15 for a behind the neck pull down, and five sets of bent over rows in the Smith machine.

I'm chefing up dinner right now

I got tons of these little plastic containers from bringing home soups and sauces for my cousin's restaurant, over the past few days I've realized that if you fill it with any kind of chopped up meat, at least the way that I been doing, it's 7.5-8.5 oz of chicken beef or pork as long as it's not ground up meat

Man it sucks when you get an injury from an odd out of the blue accident. It’s good you were able to work what you could. Hopefully it’s not too bad and will heal up quickly.

but all of them drink like fish till midnight and it wasn't really a scene that matched our goals for health and lifestyle.
Same here. Would way rather not drink, still have fun, and not feel like crap the next day.

Quick easy way to measure out 8 oz without having to weigh it every time.

I'm really sore today but I'm starting to think that other than banging my arm into the door lol, everything else yesterday and today might just be me doms from Tuesday's workout.

Soooooo, confession time, I missed 2 meals yesterday and on Wednesday I missed a meal fasted after a bathroom visit this morning I was 199.8 :/

Lol, I'm not worried about it I'm heading to the grocery store right now lol

Aldi and Costco trip this evening, I'm going to grab those fairlife 30gm RTD shakes and some kind of calorie dense bars so between the 2, I can always have a little 4-500ish cal snack high in protein. Those shakes, @Hyde knows what I'm talking about, they taste just like chocolate milk, it's hard not to drink 5 a day lol. But there low in calories so the bars and maybe some bananas to bump up the calories. Plus I like to be able to snack and work rather then take a lunch break. If I was dieting down, I'd probably do the opposite and not snack like that. I do get gut issues so I don't wanna eat too much more junk then I already do so any ideas that are semi clean and don't make you poop your pants?

Also, anyone got some dinner ideas that I can spin around and make macro friendly? I got a few high protein pizza recipes I made, a couple Chinese style ones, what's something you guys like for a cheat dinner that I can **** with and make it more muscle friendly?

Hyde was talking about those shakes the other day in Dustin’s log. I love the Fairlife shakes….I’ve been stopping at the QT after the gym and getting the Fairlife Core Power 42 gm of protein for like $5 but he was talking about the 12 pack of the 30gm RTD shakes comes out to about 2$ each. I need to check out our Aldi’s or Costco to see if we have them here. I think Fairlife makes the best shakes….like you said the Chocolate tastes just like regular chocolate milk.

agreed!

many years ago I was walking into a room with a bowl full of like yogurt with granola berries or something and my arm caught the door knob, sent the bowl up in the air, I juggled it a few times thinking i'd save the day and the bowl landed jelly side down on the carpet. I turned around and punched a hole straight through the fuckin' door lol. that was the last time I ever punched a hole in something šŸ˜‚

what's something you guys like for a cheat dinner that I can **** with and make it more muscle friendly?
I really like philly cheesteak sandwhiches and you can make them with basically any steak but my wife made some up with ribeye steak a while back that were amazing. at first I was pissed she used my ribeye but turns out it was a great use for it. but if you really dose it in a good portion of meat and a good carby bread, then the extra calories are up to you since you're bulking (cheese, etc, or just maintain high veggies for fiber)

this week she made an amazing shrimp scampi with great pasta, asparagus, and amazing shrimp. that was a filling meal that was more on the carb side since you can only pound so many shrimp but you could up that protein intake in some other creative way if you needed/wanted.

Dried fruit and nuts can be calorie dense portable snacks. Trail mix, flavored Blue Diamond almonds, or go with plain /walnuts if you’re trying to bump your omega intake up full bodybuilder/no fun lol

I can slam a lot of those Baked Lays chips. It’s basically processed potato powder & olive oil. Definitely squarely in the junk food category, but not too bad from a gut/inflammation/heart disease standpoint.

Ramen or rice noodles are a good shout with some Asian sauces on your chicken or pork. You can stir fry some slaw mix in avocodo oil and add it to ground pork with some sauce to get an eggroll flavor going on, then add to white rice and/or noodles.

A good Roast Beef with potatoes, carrots, and onions is a really good meal on a bulk as well. Throw in some cornbread for extra calories and you’ll be eating like us good ole boys down here in the south.šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘

You can eat a lot of mashed potatoes too with a nice gravy on it. Not too much more filling than rice if they’re really smooth, like an instant pack.

when my wife throws a roast in the pot before work the house smells amazing when we get home and its like 6lbs of meat candy floating in liquid heaven.

Burrito bowls are one of my favorites. Rice/beans/chicken/beef/ avocado / cilantro/ sour cream or substitute Greek yogurt / cheese / I like to throw in olives and pickled jalapeƱos

How about taking some naan bread and piling on some ground beef, sausage, and pepperoni with what ever veggies you like and mozzarella cheese with your go to pizza sauce? We make these quite a bit and use this brand bread. You can mix some olive oil and seasonings and brush it on the bread, broil it for a minute, then pile the toppings on.

Little bit of corn really sets this off too for me.

Rice, a few black beans and spoonfuls of corn, meat, taco sauce & a big dollop of Greek yogurt. Maybe a little thin shredded cheese if I don’t mind the fats

Stonefire Naan is my weakness! I could eat my weight in that stuff!

Naan is real good, I've used them for pizzas before, definitely a good idea šŸ¤™

Those 18 packs of fairlife are up to $39.99 at Costco.

This is the yogurt brand I buy sometimes, they had 18 packs of these in vanilla and chocolate for 24 bucks, can't beat that. They're not lactose free but they are ultra-filtered with most of the lactose removed so far the vanilla taste very good

Yeah whatever has the most protein per dollar that I can digest is fine by me, good buy there. I like that brand’s products.

Well all I can say is today's workout was very ADHD, I walked into the gym and saw that someone bought us som new equipment,

IMG_20260131_112605_347.webp

The second picture is obviously a set of farmers walks I had to crop it down a little bit to get the guys face out of the picture

I didn't write anything down so I'm doing my best to go off memory, I'm probably going to leave something out.

Workout was a legit 2+ hrs, but rest on the bench and box squats was pretty long, 2-4min.

Bench top set was 275x7 (5 rep day) with a back off to 205x19.
Box squats (12in) with the safety bar. I only went to 225 for a few reps. There's gonna be a little bit of a learning curve with this bar, I like it, but it changes how I squat. Il figure it out. It wasn't too heavy, it just didn't feel right, so I moved on after 3 sets.

Weighted chins top set 60x6
Trap bar deadlift 225x10's
Farmers walks with 115 in each hand 3 trips around the gym outter walls (1 lap at a time, 3 total)
Incline close grip bench 205x5,5,6
Cable press down I did 2 half ass sets and that was the workout

Oh, in between a few things I did sled pushes with 8 plates on it

Pre workout I had a shake

Intra I drank Gatorade and ate some candy

Nice workout……I’ve got to where close grip incline bench is one of my favorite tricep exercises. It’s easier on my shoulders than flat CG bench, and is really a good mass builder on the triceps.
I always love walking in the gym and seeing new toys.šŸ˜ŽšŸ‘

Lately the only direct tricep work that I do is close grip bench variations and cable press Downs. I backed off the dumbbell skull crushers and the regular skull crushers a lot because they hurt my elbows when I go heavy. I tried doing some dips today but my shoulders don't like them, even at body weight they hurt my shoulders. I used to do a lot of heavy weighted dips and I really miss doing those

Anyone who's up to date with most of the new peptides and research stuff? I got to be honest, I was just going over the website and there's even more stuff that might keep adding and I have never heard of some of this stuff so I got some research to do. Lots of these things I have heard of and not used as well. If anyone's bored and doesn't mind go over to the website and scroll through it and just take a look at some of these things and tell me if any of them stick out to you. I'd like to pick up a little discussion about a few of them if anybody's interested

I’m using some GHK copper for the first time last few nights in a Glow blend; that stuff is a trip. Injecting bright blue (from the copper) liquid that begins aching pretty good within minutes, that is actually healing lol.

I’ve only taken it before bed so far, but I can say when I woke to pee 5 hours later nothing hurt anymore. Not sure how long the pain lasts, but I had read ahead of time be ready for it to hurt after so I wasn’t surprised.

What size pin did you use with the Glow? My wife is an ā€œexpertā€ on Glow and GHK-Cu. She swears by using a 1/2ā€ slin pin and pin in the fatty part of your hip instead of stomach. Also take zinc. Doing this prevented her from experiencing any pain with pinning either one.

Also if anyone has dry skin issues, the GHK-Cu will take care of it. It is amazing what it’s done for my wife’s skin, especially this time of the year.

Just to clarify, the injection site hurt? Or when you went to take a pee it hurt..... I hate to break it to ya buddy, that's the clap šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘ šŸ˜‚

Just busting your balls, pretty much everything I've read about that mentions painful injections. Some ppl, maybe vigorous Steve or anabolic bodybuilding said it was absolutely horrible pain lol. But it seems to be very Beneficial. Seems like most of the people who like it are willing to deal with the injection pain

Interesting I have not heard this before on the dry skin part. Is it a daily or once a week pin?
