i tried playing basketball the other day and couldnt hang with them youngins lol

definitely the knees. my mind still thinks i can pivot/plant and change directions fast but my joints dont seem to handle that well now that i am in my mid 40's. i used to be pretty explosive in my late teens and early 20's

I have a close friend now (after a Rocky start), who works with me, who's an athlete. And I was telling him about my mental conflicts, the other day....
We have a hanging electrical outlet, that hangs about 7 1/2 feet off the floor.
And I told him this truth: "Every time I pass that thing, I want to kick it"!
But alas ... Those years are past.

if you still have the flexibility and a proper warm up you can try but it will be the landing that will do you in. probably. i used to be able to jump tall fences and land without a problem but i tried that same 8ft fence i used to jump when i was in my teens and early 20's again a few years back and nearly killed myself.

Yeah .... I've incurred some injuries over the years, so it's probably wiser not to try it.

I'm not afraid to try, or Of anything....
But that doesn't guarantee a certain outcome.

just be sure to videotape it if you try, worst come to worst we can all get a laugh of you busting your butt on the ground 🤣.i always played up against older opponents in sports growing up, was on a 17&over hockey team when i was 13 years old everyone else was driving to practices but my mom had to drop me off.i clearly remember when i was young looking at players on mens over 40 leagues for baseball/soccer/hockey and almost every player had a brace either on their elbow/knee or ankle. in that pic i am recovering from a torn mcl and cartilage in my knee with that blue knee brace. i remember maybe almost exactly 24 years ago i was in the gym in college and an older man said to me as i was seated on the chest fly machine "everything you do to your body now will show up 20 years later" . i had no previous interactions with this man, i don't remember doing anything crazy in the gym that day, but it was something that stuck in my mind for some reason. then maybe 6 months shy of 20 years i started having knee cartilage and shoulder instability problems and i immediately thought of that man.

dude I threw down burpees a couple weeks ago in a makeshift wod I created for an intensity session. I was like "I'm going to force the burpees cause I want the ROM and explosiveness back". I thought for sure they'd suck, but I was bouncing off the ground like I did 10 years ago, even though burpess suck, I sorta liked them that day, in that moment, just because its kind of an athletic movement and it felt good. ya might throw them in with a timer and see what the body has in it! maybe you'll be surprised...
