2025 Accountability Thread - Held in remembrance of Rocket3015!!!

MrKleen73

Legend
In the last several years a group of us have often got together to do challenges or accountability threads to help us achieve our goals. Sometimes these are just after New Year's for resolutions, sometimes in the middle of the year to get ready for summer, but we have all got together to help each other reach our goals and also give us something to lose if we don't achieve our goals. This year I would like to run one in remembrance of Rocket3015, one our beloved lost brothers here on AM. He was one of the nicest, most positive and kind people on the board. His generosity was unmatched and just an all around good man! He was often involved in all of my challenges and accountability threads. So in order to keep his memory and positive influence alive I wanted to dedicate this one to him, and all of us agree to donate to the charity of his family's choosing. @sns8778 will be in contact with the family to find out what charity he would have wanted us to donate to in his name.

The rules of this thread are simple, there is going to be a $50 commitment to participate, and the donation doubles to $100 if we do not meet our goals as an additional accountability payment. The payments will be at the end of the challenge so you have a little time to save up if needed. This both gives us something to lose but also allows us to be helping others whether we reach our goals or not by having the initial buy in. This will be a good way to help us reach our goals and also do something positive in Rocket's memory.

Goals should be measurable and specific with a specific time frame and deadline. If weight loss, or gain is the goal you should put your target weight by this date, if strength related then there should be something we can verify like a specific goal, like lift this much for this many reps by this date.

As an example, this is my goal, and entry.

Kleen's Goal = Weight Loss - Current Weight 213 - Target Weight 200 or below on or before 3/31/25

I hope many of you will want to get in on this. It is a great way to have a group of people supporting your efforts and also helping to hold you accountable for reaching your goals. Plus we all get to help others with this benefitting a nice charity and remembering one of our own!

Hyde’s Goal = 500lbx1 Conventional Deadlift on or before 3/31/25.

I deadlift 440x5 on 12/22/24, which is my heaviest conventional pull in 9 months coming back from a facet joint injury, but my lat pulled some on the first rep. So I need to heal the lat & maintain/build low back/ab/ham strength as much as possible to be able to execute when it’s time.

Welcome @Hyde good to see you in here. Great goal, excited to watch you reach it!

Ak’s goal = weight loss - current weight 208/209 lbs as of a couple days ago - Target weight 195 lbs on or before 3/31/2025.

Glad to see this up and couldn’t be for a better cause!

I will get a progress picture up here today or first thing tomorrow so can compare to the ending.

Great idea, I will go ahead and post mine from the other day since the weight loss actually started from the 1st.

Well guys unfortunately my goal by the end of March can’t be as lofty as all yours, but I will put something out here.
I originally planned to start a log this New Year, but I injured my left shoulder, again, moving our old refrigerator out just after Thanksgiving to put in our new one. I actually had a rough 2024 with shoulders, mainly rotator cuffs, and knees. Constantly felt like 2 steps forward then 3 steps back. I originally tore my left upper pec, front delt, and part of my bicep almost 20 years ago and have had a lot of issues ever since. The knees are just old with arthritis and lots of cartilage gone, but I got back into training when I was 52 and I’m 60 now, but I am so glad I came back and continue to fight through getting older and nagging injuries. You guys and this forum have been a great inspiration for me, and Rocket especially was, and the way everyone works through injuries and challenges.
I found me a great ART physical therapist, that I started PT with the first week in December and really like what he does, it is painful but I do feel like he’s helping break up lots of scar tissue and has me working with bands and light dumbbells. To be honest I went through issues of being embarrassed at the gym because of how I used to train and had a lot of young people look up to me at our gym, and now I feel like the old man on the side with my bands and baby weight dumbbells, then walking on the treadmill. But I know that was just pride and they have actually all been encouraging and still come to me for advice, so I’m over the embarrassment……
So GPs goal is to work hard to get back to hitting the iron hard again by the end of March and start a training log in April….
“GP Old Man With A Plan”
My original goal in 2024 was to get back to a 315 bench by 2025, I hit 365 on bench touch and go at 55 years old in 2019, but injured that same old shoulder and had another long rehab…trying to avoid surgery if possible. I will definitely give in my old buddy Rocket’s name in April and fully plan to start the log, but I will absolutely be cheering you guys on in your goals, and will work my butt off to get to where I can start the training log. I think this is great, because accountability and encouragement always helps.💪😎👍

So what you are really saying is that your goal is to rehab yourself to the point you can take on this new challenge by April 1st. That in and of itself is a great goal considering your issues.

I originally planned to start a log this New Year,
I've been waiting years for this log! 🔥 🔥 🤘 💪

That sounds worthy of the log itself dude!

I love this, so you're telling me i have about 12.5 years to put 60lbs on my bench.
Wait, actually, since I only added 5lbs last year it may take all 12 years. uh oh 😅

Subbed and reserving this spot to post my goal in here! Will definitely be participating.

While most of you guys follow my log and know my stated 2025 goal is to compete in a PL meet, it's looking like the actual meet I'll target probably won't be until Nov. So, to keep me active in here I'll choose a target lift & weight to have in here more around the same time frame as the rest of you fellas. Let's go!

Hope Rocket smiles down on all of us when he see this thread.

Let's go gentlemen. I have been working on my fasting and yesterday was my first 24 hour fast in a long time. Even got some cardio in mid day yesterday to take advantage. The recumbent bike was not too bad on my foot. I did have to change foot placement on the pedal a little bit to keep it comfortable, but I was able to pull off 30 minutes averaging about 135BPM which ain't easy on a bike. At least not for me. Quads had a massive pump after this even fasted.

Pulled 275 this morning with no pain in the lat, so we’re over halfway there!

This is great, because it means next week I should be good to use ~315 for some speed work or RDLS, getting back to some kind of deadlifting that will have carryover towards a 500 pull.

This is awesome to see again! Definitely in on this for Rocket! I’ll come up with a goal and post here. Lifts wise I’m at the mercy of my coach so I’m thinking it may be a weight goal.

I’m definitely excited for this. Lat seems to be improving, so weight I can touch is coming back up on deadlifts quickly!

Things are going well for me, been maintaining a nice deficit lately but weight is holding on. Actually went up this morning. No big deal, I had some food that makes me retain water so not sweating it. I know the drill. Consistency and naturally building momentum will take care of things.

My goal is to have a goal by Feb 9th to join in on this. Jan has been a bit of a shitshow so I'm doing what I can to mitigate the damage with some full body sessions and choosing my calories more carefully until I can pick a direction and run.

207 this morning, not quite what I was hoping for but it is in the right direction.

Going to go destroy some forearms and hit 30 minutes of treadmill here in a bit. Possibly even deadlifts.

Legpressed 9 plates for a set of 12 after 4 prior ascending sets (5,6,7,8), so the leg strength is definitely already there for 500, no question. Just need to keep ramping my back work back up and I’ll be in business soon enough!

Nice work! Going to pull that 500 in no time!

Holy crap, my feet are killing me after yesterdays sprint session. Working towards crafting a goal that is cardio/health based when I get home Feb 9th.

Gym session in the books!

Currently sitting 207lbs. So far to date the best physique I’ve had ! Still got work to do 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Shoulder rehab work with bands is going good….. I wish I would have found a good ART therapist a long time ago. The dude is very knowledgeable and it’s really amazing how much he has helped my mobility in such a short time. I’ve got to thank Hyde for that, because of posting so much good information on his work with his ART Doc. That’s what got me looking for one after these latest setbacks. And my Orthopedic said if all keeps going as well as it has, he doesn’t see any need for surgery. Ha, 2025 is looking good.💪😎👍

Hey everybody, been frozen in the house the last couple of days. Houston was closed for business. Ice everywhere, I was concerned pulling out of my driveway this morning because it was a sheet of ice and I had to pull past my wife's car while on the sheet of ice. Luckily no sliding so I unpuckered and drove the rest of the way in the roads were fine once I got out on them but my driveway was still a sheet of ice from where it melted and refroze.

Anyway, I unfortunately kind of went into a bit of a vacation mindset and ate a few things not on my plan. So weight is up a little from poor choices. I am really going to have to buckle down here or I am not going to make my goal. I am traveling for work this weekend to set up a remote trial so I am probably going to do a OMAD type set up to get caught back up.

Yeah Texas pretty much got hit with a Blizzard for the south. My youngest son lives in Baton Rouge LA and he said they got like 9” and everything shut down. We got some snow here in Georgia but where I’m at no problems on the roads, but man the bitter cold is no joke it was 12* yesterday morning. Stay safe.👍

Yeah, we had about 3 inches at the house, 4 on the areas it started sticking first.

Wondered how the storm was effecting things down there. Glad to hear all good!

Pulled 396 for my last speed triple Tuesday; my lat felt best it’s been - first time with no discomfort at all. So I’m looking to move back into the 400s again tomorrow!

I'm still working on my plan/goal. I think it will be cardio based. I want to drop 10 of the lbs I put on the past 2.5 months but I also want to continue working on my cardio. When I was competing in xfit I was running 6min miles and I felt great when we had a day that you'd run a mile, rest as long as that mile took, run another mile, etc and at the end of it all you scored your slowest mile, mine was like 6 or 6:10. I don't feel a need to run sixes anymore but sub 7 is on my mind.

Thats wild man. I remember years ago when a light dusting of snow hit Austin and the state shut down, we thought it was funny at the time lol. but you guys are getting it worse this time. Your forecast is quite a bit warmer in the near future though?

500lbs on a powerbar this morning! Mission accomplished, gentlemen.

I was pulling from a deficit, ~2.25”, for Max Effort day. After how fast 455 moved, and how good I was feeling, I knew I had it in me today. Removed the mats I’d been standing on, smoked 475 even faster, then pulled my first 500 since I injured my spine 10 months ago. It has been a LONG road back to this point, fraught with setbacks…but I kept the faith, did the work, & made it happen.

Perseverance ✊

That’s awesome….congratulations.💪😎👍

Congratulations, I had no doubts you would reach your goal. Also, looking pretty fit at your current weight.

Hell yeah man! Awesome sauce right there!

I’m really happy with this, to do 500 so soon after my lat went on strike a month ago. I don’t want to push anything too soon, but this lift was very fast. I believe 530+ is there right now, so that is my stretch goal now for end of March. I definitely need to do that anyway to stay on track for a true PR this year, so my hope is to do this in the next 6-8 weeks.

What is your PR for deadlift?

not sure how TF you look like you have bent elbows like you're curling 500lbs lol
biceps, delts and pecs all looking yoked too, not looking fat enough!! you need to eat!

Time to put up or shut up, as they say. Does anyone say that anymore?

Goal:
Rehab work to get deadlifts back to 185x3x8 by 4/15/25.

Current as of 1/28/25:
135x3x8

So +50# to get back comfortable with for reps in 11 weeks. Giving myself a bit of a runway here to ensure I don't rush anything too fast with my programming. Certainly no superman like our friend @Hyde who just put up 60# in just over a month! That's inspiring though and the kick I needed to set the wheels in motion.

Alright guys, loving some of the newly stated goals, and the stretch goal @Hyde added for himself is awesome! I did not manage to make progress while out of town, I maintained which is better than nothing, but the reality is now I have 13lbs to lose in the next 8 weeks. I am going to buckle down and get the job done, or give it some major hell anyway. We also scheduled a romantic getaway to Destin in the 2nd half of June, and i have decided I want to be nice and lean for the trip so even more motivation to get my buff on!
