Ivan Putski’s Anthems, Anecdotes, and Undeniable Truths of Garage Gym Lifting

Stretch it if theres no sides. I'm a fan of long cycles when possible.
I feel great overall! Things that normally frustrate me at work have not been bothering me. Just in an overall great mood. Working weights are going up and looking better in the mirror. BP is staying in check. Did you offload that stack you posted a couple weeks ago?

Nope it's still sitting in my top drawer

Also everything sounds great, I wouldn't stop if I felt awesome and was making progress around the board

Yeah as long as health is doing alright the big thing is keeping things to within a few months so PCT doesn’t get too arduous. It can become harder to recover if you stay suppressed for too many months.

I second and third these opinions. If no obvious sides, and not using methylated orals a longer cycle is going to be more productive and the results will likely stick around a little longer.

I have no sides, BP is in check, just ordered the Reduce XT, and have PCT in hand already. Gonna stretch it another 4 wks. And I already have a “Guy” for the RAD and Epi TD 🤣🤣🤣

The straight arm pull downs/lat prayers are new to me. Had to mess w the Titan rack a bit to get it so I had a stretch at the top but still full ROM on contraction. Got a good pump/stretch from them. Wish I had incorporated them into my routine sooner. Had never done deficit push-ups either, good stretch and a great pump. Feeling stronger day by day. Lower back still feels nice 2 days after upping the weight on SLDL.

Rough day at work. This was a challenge. Everything felt great until the bent over rows. I hit my estimated reps but the last 3 on second set were not the cleanest. I normally do these “table style” so at full stretch the plates just tap the floor. Not a bounce, just a tap, didn’t do full ROM. Went a little faster than I’d like on the negative.
Incline barbell felt AMAZING. And in an attempt to burn more calories I pace from one end of the garage to the other between sets. Not sure if this does anything other than upping my step count. I blame the PUMP ADDICT for me not catching my breath like a normal person. 🤣🤣🤣

Focusing more on form than weight on squat and GM’s. And I move that “Good mornings” have a name change to “Go F Yourself”. Just a thought…

Everything felt real good here! Chest still a bit sore from Saturday. That’s 2 wks in a row. Might have to shuffle some things around. Or not. Upper pec is still sore from the incline barbell press.

On another note, My Wife and I celebrated our 23rd year of marriage. If you have been following anything I put on this forum, Yes, she is an amazingly patient and wonderful woman! I would not be the Man I am today without her. The Ying to my Yang if you will.
We went to Maine, visited a Recreational Dispensary (Maine does it right!), went out for an amazing dinner, and drove south along the coast right at sunset. You would have thought I planned this out, it went so well. All on a whim….

Congrats on 23 years! That's both fantastic and quite the feat these days.

What part of Maine? We did Portland for our anniversary trip last year, had an awesome time as well. Breweries, light house, driving down the coast!

We were in Eliot, Kiitery, and York. Drove through Rye NH and into Hampton.

Congrats on those 23 years, it is easy when you have the right partner ain't it!

Congrats man, sounds fun....

Congrats on 23 years with your lady…..sounds like you guys had a great time.
Thank you! It was great. It was nice to have an entire afternoon and evening of just “us” w no distractions. Doesn’t happen as often due to work schedules etc but I think we appreciate it more when the time comes

I weighed in at 217 after dinner. Yikes! I typically don’t consume salt. But the anniversary dinner consisted of truffle fries, marinated tips, jasmine rice, and the rest of my wife’s baked scallops. Maybe retaining a little fluid?
BP was 120/67 HR 60 upon waking. I am still using the SNS Blood Pressure Support XT and haven’t had to take the Telmisartan.
And it’s official, after the shower last night, My Wife says “You look juiced out! You look like you ate yourself. Is that why you are walking funny? Is the smaller you still inside?” We had a good laugh. I had just done legs. Lmao

Dude, your wife is the bomb!!! What a way to give a compliment! Tell her I said well done on that compliment, creative, hilarious, and very complimentary!

I just recently added the BP Support XT to my regiment too. Watching over the next few days to see if I get a little lower, wanted to have some on board for when the winny picked up just to keep things in the normal ranges.

I was pleased with this! lol. No backhanded comments. She is getting a little jealous. Asked me to make her a routine as our schedules don’t allow us to train together. Nothing wrong w her wanting to be a happier and healthier version of herself. She doesn’t know exercise names. Lateral raises are “make the T w db’s” and upright rows are “zip up the jacket”.

Everything is progressing nicely as far as weights and or volume increasing. The underhand grip pull downs and lat prayers gave me an insane pump. Really liking that combo. Another week in the books. I am on-call for work Wed-Tues so I’ll have to take the good w the bad and make the best of it. I swap weekends w another guy so I can get a little break Sat and sun night. It will lessen the chance of me missing any workouts due to extended shift or getting called back to the field right when I get home.

Shifted gears to Iconic Formulations Ultra Epi at 5 pumps this a.m. I may add 300 mg on non lifting days w oral. On lifting days I’ll be popping 600mg PWO
5 pumps is A LOT OF GEL!!! I gotta 86 My Les Grossman sweater vest to scare up some real estate for my TD’s. Might stop shaving the head and let my “skullet” grow in. Lmaoooooooo

I think I ate too late in the day at work. Got a Chipotle burrito bowl rice and 2x chix only. Ate at 4:45 and felt nasty since. Hit the garage at 6:30 Pump was insane. Getting forearm and hand pumps from gripping bar/db’s. This pump is not better than cumming, Arnold. Hit and or exceeded what “Al Gorithm” suggested. Rap God came on while doing bent rows. “Ray Jays dead…..”. I def Can’t rep at the pace Em can spit. That’s for damn sure

Gonna go whack back 2 scoops of mutant ISO and a few pieces of cantaloupe.
On a lighter note it’s the weekend. Have a good night Fellas!!!!!

195 squat felt lighter than 185 2 wks ago. Bumped the GFM’s up 10 lbs. need to add another set for next week.
Db skull crushers can go up finally. I’m sooooo paranoid about popping my tricep again I don’t bump the weight up until I hit 30 reps. I know it’s mental at this point but I still feel scar tissue notching sometimes and do a 20 count stretch after each set. My bi’s r bigger than tri’s at this point. Want to get into the 12-16 rep range and see what the growth is like

Db bi curls, I hate these. I feel so “blah” or “meh” doing these. Might switch these out to incline db or to ez bar wide grip. Only have 1 of 2 heads still attached in my right arm so training biceps is lackluster. Left arm looks stellar, right arm looks like it hasn’t gotten the message that I workout.

Pull-ups felt smoother! Much better form. I don't “feel” the normal grip pull-downs as good as reverse grip but I have limited options w the equipment I have.

I was able to match my rep count on both sets of flat barbell bench. Hitting 12th rep on second set felt easier than 12 on first set.

Db incline broke the 20 rep count on both sets, might go up next week or shoot for “cleaner” reps.

Had a killer mind muscle connection w the cable upright rows. Crazy how on some exercises you find that “groove” and every rep feels locked in. Rep count went up on those as well

I am liking the 4 pumps of Iconic Epi along w 600-900 mg PWO of the oral. Using just the Iconic on non-training days.
4-Andro still at 150mg 2 times per day
Rad-150 still at 20mg/ day
4 wks left of this cycle. Trying to get everything I can out of it.

On a work life balance note, I currently work 8-5 and commute is 45min minimum depending upon where in my footprint I’m working.
Boss offered me a 5-2 shift so at the latest be home by 3:15. That leaves plenty of time for weights and cardio. Caveat to that is up at 4 instead of 6. Possibility of less sleep until I get into a good sleep cycle.
I have to read “the fine print” on this offer to see what may be a negative that I haven’t thought of yet. If this shift fails, do I default back to my previous schedule? They are also offering a 10-7 shift. Is that the shift I’ll be voluntold to take? Thus the reason for my skepticism.

Sounds like you need to get some specifics for sure.

So talked to my boss and I would default back to my regular 8-5 shift if senior leadership determines that the new 5-2 doesn’t work. It only doesn’t work if I break it. If I’m productive then it keeps happening. Our Director suggested it. Makes it seem like it has potential to succeed where he is onboard. This will kick in 1st week of August. During the summer I’ll love it. Snowblowing the driveway at 3:30 am not so much. But I’ll take the good w the bad

Should have less traffic both on the way there & home with that new shift too. I would say that’s a great option. I used to work 7-3:30 when I was a mechanic and it was great.

Especially heading in for 5am. Highway should be a ghost town. Plus I’m driving north into NH as everyone is heading south into MA for work and vice versa in afternoon.

Added a set to cable curls. These felt great. Nice pump

SLDL went well. I found “another gear” doing these. Target rep was 15 and I hit 20 w proper form. The Tin Man worries about his lower back ya know?

Added 10lbs to the Bulgarian split squats. These kick my ass. My cardio sucks so when I switch from right to left leg I have to take a 30 second breather.

Added a set to single leg calf raises. I was only resting 1-2 min. Insane burn!!!
It was 92 and ridiculously humid. I was drenched and actually nauseous from this workout.
And then comes the “walk of shame” up from the garage to eat dinner

I did the 6AM - 2:30PM thing for a few years back in 2003 when our office was in Marlborough MA. Loved it and always beat the traffic. W/ you going North at that time, you will have zero traffic. I would work those 5AM - 2PM hours if given the choice as well. Heck, I work from home and still get up at 3:30 each day. Best of luck, and good progress on your routine...
