Today I received a beta bottle of Iconic Formulations topical melatonin. Thanks to @delsolrob for the opportunity to give this a try!

For starters, a few years back I tried an oral melatonin supplement and didn't really see any effects. I don't remember the dosage or brand or anything so there's not much to compare there other than the fact that I ceased usage due to no noticeable difference in sleep quality. I've been sleeping sort of poorly lately and I don't really know why so I'm interested to see what kind of help this will provide in a topical carrier.

I'm currently at maintenance calories, taking normal daily vitamins in addition to CEL Anabolic Effect and BFF Vasoblitz. My dailies are magnesium, D3, fish oil, creatine, cissus and SNS Joint Support.

Workout averages every other day, sometimes 4 days per week. I recently started training with a powerlifting coach so workouts will be changing a bit and I think the sleep aid is going to be a big help with that. I've been on 531 BBB along with various accessory lifts for about the last 6 months. This new wave of training will have me hitting heavier weights than I'm used to so high quality sleep is going to be a very welcome friend.

The bottle is 10mg/ml @ 30ml

After my shower this evening I will dose 0.5ml for 5mg of melatonin and see how that does me tonight. I will keep sleeping times normal which averages 10pm-5am. I very rarely am up later than 1030 and often am in bed at 9-930. I will do my best to include sleeping durations along with any other pertinent info.

Thanks for checking in and thanks again for the opportunity! Here's to some good Zzz's!

Sleep 930-5

Night one is in the books and boy that's about as deep as I've ever slept. Certainly in recent memory.

Deep, abyssal blackness. Dark, empty nothingness. The way sleep oughta be!

Now there might be a few things at play here for me. I had a high stress, high activity day yesterday followed by a good bench session. Today should be a more regular day at work for me which will be a better gauge of average nights. It's also a rest day so that combination will allow me to revert to a normal control situation.

I got up a couple times around 130 and 330 to take a leak but this happens on training days from having ~100oz of water within 2 hours of going to bed. That said, each time I got up I thought it was already morning and was delighted to find I could return to my slumber.

Got in bed at 930. I had a bit of trouble falling asleep initially but that happens on training days sometimes. Add to that the excitement of trying this product out and it's not much of a surprise. I was sort of half asleep/awake for maybe 20min before using the restroom and then fell totally asleep when I got back in bed.

No dreams whatsoever and I personally love that. I want my sleep to be sleep, not a chance for my freaky deaky id to run wild like Tyler Durden and leave me waking up tired. None of that here. I'm Jack's totally rested body. I know some of y'all are into the lucid dreaming fun times so be aware this is how it affected my dream state at 0.5mg. I'm interested to see if this holds or if my overly busy day contributed here. It's certainly possible that a higher dosage could spurn more vivid dreaming as well which I will test in the coming days or weeks.

Speaking of dosages, I may try dropping to 0.25ml tonight just to see how that treats me. I slept deep enough last night that even half the dosage may be plenty. I'm also very curious to see how this acts over time and with accumulation in my system.

So far I'm a fan, but let's wait and see how round two goes.

Hope everyone is feeling as rested as I am this morning! Slay the day!

@ANABOLICWRWLF i assume you have used oral melatonin before---how does this compare? i don't get much if anything from oral melatonin and haven't even messed with it for quite awhile.

I have but don't remember the brand or dose. I didn't notice any notable effects from oral so this was a nice surprise.

We'll see tonight if it was a coincidence or not though.

Ya this is interesting. I’ve used oral melatonin for a long time and while it might help some, it would be interesting if TD changes the effectiveness. Definitely following.

930-5

0.5ml

Sleep quality was good again. Not quite the same inky void as the night before, I did have some hazy dreams, but certainly nothing so intense it affected rest. Liking this so far!

everytime i find something that actually helps my sleep it usually is only effective for 2 nights in a row, really hoping the better sleep continues for you tonight!!!

Melatonin has a half life of 40 to 60 minutes - the delayed release in Salvo allows a really slow release to keep it working. I believe there's research specifically on using td melatonin for jet lag - for this very reason...so it doesn't just get you to sleep, it keeps you asleep. Also, there are a myriad of things that disrupt the production of melatonin...including light and the light on our TV's, phones, laptops, etc.

945-5

0.5ml 5mg

Dreams but woke up generally rested. Busy day yesterday and squats last night. I'm going to dose again tonight because I have a session with my coach tomorrow and want to see how the deep sleep preps me for a heavy workout but I think within the next few days I'm going to take a night off to see how sleep compares.

1130-730

0.5ml

Late night last night. About 7 pm my boy was running wild in the house and sliced his foot open between his pinky and the next toe. Went to pediatric urgent care and he got his first 6 stitches at 6 years old. Took 'em like a champ! We were there a few hours and he hard some trouble getting to sleep once the anesthetic wore off.

Had some dreams, nothing crazy. Sleep was decent but not great which could be expected for the excitement that preceded it. Woke up fairly rested for such a hectic evening though.

Heavy squats and bench with the coach today so I'm looking forward to some deep sleep.

Thanks @thebigt ! I've been very impressed with his ability to deal with it so well. I think the worst part for him is his reduced mobility, he seems frustrated and depressed in the same way I am when I get injured.

Very proud. My son gave me a reason to live when I really needed it and continues to bring me joy in ways nothing else ever has. Definitely changed the way I see my dad and grandpa too. Nothing like it.

Sleep has been good the last couple nights. I think I'm going to keep on with 0.5ml this week and then try 1ml Friday night.

I'll def be following. My R.E.M. Sleep is typically under an hour (often under half hour) and I really need to bump that up. I use an oura ring to measure and I'm desperate to improve that data.

timing was messed up last night, i got involved in something and didn't apply the 1ml topical melatonin until 15 minutes before i went to bed...i was hoping for the melatonin to help falling asleep, but by taking it so closely to bedtime it still took nearly an hour----i can tell because i listen to same radio shows every night and there are newsbreaks every half hour.

once i fell asleep i slept all the way through, sleep was very deep and a full 6 hours---just somewhat disappointed it took so long falling asleep. for sure, will be applying the melatonin earlier tonight.

So I had a heavy deadlift day Monday and I felt very drained Tuesday. I decided to skip Tuesday nights dosage and ended up doing the same last night. Today I was less groggy upon waking and noticeably less tired throughout the day. I'm not positive that the tired feeling Tuesday was only the workout and may have actually been the "melatonin hangover". I think starting tonight I'm going to try 0.25ml/ 2.5mg and see how that treats me after a few days.

2.5mg seems to be doing me right. We'll see how I feel throughout the day today with the midday sleepiness I noticed earlier in the week when dosing 5mg. Heavy deads with the coach today so how I sleep tonight on 2.5mg will be interesting to see.

That’s the truth. I find for me 3mg is enough.
the .5ml split into 2 doses half hour apart are working great for me...some may find smaller dose or different dosing works best for them...
