Just an observation of the hypocrisy we deal with:
In the State of California there is no need to show ID to vote, nor do I believe there was any enforcement of the obligation to verify signature on mail in ballots. Why? Well, I believe the real and answer is obvious, but lets just go along with the story and say it was because of COVID. Now then, COVID still exists and the current infection rate in California (to the best of my knowledge) does not differ materially from the infection rate as it existed during the Presidential vote. In other words, if COVID was a reason not to show ID and to overlook/waive the obligation to verify signatures on mail in ballots a few months ago, then one could certainly that there must still be no need to show voter ID or to enforce the obligation to verify mail in (or petition) signatures today, since the COVID situation remains roughly the same in California.
There is a Gubernatorial recall underway in the state of California. It has been reported that more than the required 1.5 million signatures have been amassed to recall Governor Gavin Newsom, who is, in my opinion, the very worst example of inept political mismanagement this state has ever had. He is truly awful. And, to be worse than the Jerry Brown level of awful, takes true dedication in the pursuit of awful.
But, hold on, the recall signatures have to be verified.
Yes, California election officials are now claiming that they must verify the signatures on all mail-in ballots and recall petitions. These same nincompoops are trying to do damage control and indicate that California is not levying a stricter level of scrutiny for the recall than they did for the 2020 general election.
Nothing to see here - move along.
