Donald Trump running for president

there is also irony when i see posts that indicate trump supporters/conservatives are the only ones against and refusing to wear masks.

Me not wanting to wear a mask is not political. It’s because masks are stupid and I don’t want to wear one.

That is fair. The WORST is when prominent and respected people telling others to wear masks are caught not wearing them themselves. It undermines their entire message. Like a doctor telling you not to smoke, but when you’re waiting for your appointment, you see him smoking, and he has a pack of cigarettes on his desk haha.

I presume you aren’t a Christian then right? Because Jesus would say to deal with minor “stupid” inconveniences fo help keep other people safe. Put others before yourself and all that.

I am not a Christian. People haven’t given a crap about each other for years, I find it funny now they all the sudden want people to care about each other. Go out and drive 10 miles and see how much others truly care about you. Or go try and buy toilet paper next time fake news fauci decides to scare people. I will stick with keeping my distance. If you aren’t in my space then my lack of mask won’t matter will it?

I have to add: I wear a mask if the business asks me to and it’s a place I want/need to go into. Or it’s somewhere on my face I should say. Tomorrow I will be wearing that stupid mask for 25 hours to fly. Did I mention masks are stupid?

Oh, if you are sufficiently distanced and can remain so it’s not so much of an issue. But if you’re, say, on public transit, you can’t “keep your distance” so wearing a mask, as you say you do in those circumstances, is the right thing to do, and I thank you for it, even if it’s just so you don’t get kicked off the bus or out of the store.

you mean like pelosi getting caught in the hair salon without a mask after banning hair salons for everyone else?

Or the young doctor on a super crowded boat partying? It’s one thing to be anti-mask. It’s another to be anti-mask for everyone except yourself. Hypocrisy isn’t cool.

like the young 'WOKE' people condemning conservatives for not wearing masks and then seeing them at a blm protest...with NO masks?

Lucky for me the only time I need to wear one really is on the plane. At the supermarket I am spaced out enough that I can keep it down most the time. Where I live there is very few people that even care to begin with. But I am enjoying the social distancing and not having to shake hands anymore. The best part of the virus in my opinion.

I’d rather just wear it the whole time in the supermarket, that way if I happen to get close to someone, or they get close to me, I don’t have to pull it up. If you have a good mask, it’s honestly not bad at all for the duration of shopping. But yeah, not having to shake people’s hands is nice. Also not having so many people with no sense of boundaries or personal space. Silver linings.

Yeah, that’s dumb. Viruses don’t have a sense of morality. They don’t care why you’re out, no matter how justified you think it is, or how noble you think your cause is. Nature is impartial.

Im so grateful I bought a home a couple of years ago, it payed off big time last year as I had the space and managed to build a nice 100sq/ft gym in my aluminum coated basement bunker. I tried going to the gym a few months ago and training with a mask just isnt comfortable. I actually am still an active member of my gym because he is having hard times, but till the mask goes I stay in my bunker.

Powerblocks are the shyt!!!! Took alot of effort to get them, waited until summer. Have 3 sets, 24s (goes up in 3s,) 50 sport and 90 pro's. I like my 50s because you can fast change by 5lbs without taking the bars out of the handles and they are way more balanced when doing curls and stuff like that.

Almost bought some power blocks!
I actually paid the exuberant cost for the x3 band system and it actually worked very well during covid. My strength went up noticeably as I was able to add extra bands to what I struggled with when starting. Def maintained or built a little strength during gym closure.

Just can’t replace the gym tho. Something special about working out in public with all the equipment

yes, and the hypocrisy is mostly on the left...conservatives who are against wearing masks are pretty vocal about it.

but i am not by any means saying there aren't conservatives who are also guilty of this hypocrisy, only that it appears to me to be more prevalent with the left.

Look, if you want to wear a mask go for it. When it’s mandated and you are refused rights for not wearing one....That is a slippery slope that I don’t agree with. It’s all priming for mandatory everything where you won’t be able to move in society. Think chinas social credit system

I got into bands too....what I learned is they arent all made the same. The best ones Ive used are EliteFTS....they are less "plasticy" as alot of those cheap 30-50 dollar sets and stretch out just nicer and better. I paid some $200 for a double set 12 bands total, and even bought a second set that Im going to bring with me to China whenever Im allowed to go again so I can leave it there.

Muti-angle pullup bar and pulleys did a great job replacing alot of equipment that I always thought were mandatory for training.

Ill post a picture from my phone in a second.

Have you ever tried IronMasters? Or their cheaper "cousins" that don't adjust quite as quickly Pepin dumbbells? It's like your typical standard spinlock dumbbells, but instead of spinning collars onto a threaded bar, you spin the threaded rods with flat endcaps into a central handle. So they take 60-90 seconds to change weights, but they can use standard pancake plates, and function exactly like pro-style dumbbells. And you can load them up with a lot of weight if you have the thin 10lb pancake plates. 60-90 seconds between sets may not be optimal for people who want to do supersets, or dropsets, or change the weight between every set, but if you're going heavy and resting 90+ seconds between sets, or doing multiple sets with the same weight, they're IDENTICAL to pro-style dumbbells from a functional and feel perspective IMO. I have the Pepin dumbbells. IronMaster ones just make the changing weight process faster, but are similar beyond that. But I think they're more expensive and have to be bought WITH plates, while Pepin sells handles without additional plates, which is great if you have some already, or buy them on their own. I even bought a pair of used Troy pro-style dumbbells and stripped them for the sweet 10lb pancake plates! They look pretty nice too.

Do you also think it's a slippery slope to mandate people wear pants in public? Free the dicks. It's your right to let it hang!

you just made my point...a lot of lefties will say they are all in for wearing masks and then not wear them...most conservatives who are against masks will straight up tell you so.

Multi-angle pull-up bar, pulleys and portable squat stand all from Archon Fitness, reasonable quality at a decent price.

That box on the floor (8th Day Performance Elev8 Adjustable Plyometric Box) goes from 18-30 inches, really cool invention saves space.

Well now that’s just perverse and is also psychologically damaging to people lol. Plus I’m a grower not a shower so I’ll pass 🤣

I’ve already had it. Doubt I am a risk for anyone anytime soon. I get tested a lot for work as well.

Those look really nice, I would have no problem getting those and love them...Im lucky powerblock turned out great for me. I can change weight extremely fast.

I was using good quality handles with spin collars, but it was giving me problems when doing chest. I have to be careful of my fragile shoulders and they were forcing me to put the dumbells on the side of my legs (bar end poking me) instead of directly on top when I sit on the bench, and prop myself back up....thats when I hunted down powerblocks.

Good points. I ended up wearing padded football girdles so I wouldn't destroy my quads doing heavy presses. Even when you don't place the central rod on your leg, even the little "*" shaped spinlock on your quad with 100+ pounds can leave bruises. Glad you're enjoying the powerblocks.

I also discovered belt squats and they're GREAT. I stand on two folding heavy-duty stepstools, and wear a dip belt. Load some 25s and 10s onto a loading pin, and attach that to the belt. Hang it between your legs and squat! No rack or bar needed, and it requires less weight than back squats. Arguably the same or even less than front squats even, since you can get good depth if you want to. And the best part is that there is NO loading on the spine at all. All the weight is supported on your hips, so if anything it stretches/elongates the spine, rather than compressing it. Great for people with nagging lower back issues from barbell squats.

And if you have a rack/cage or a bench or pullup/dip tower in front of you, you can hold onto it for balance, and also for a little self spot if you get stuck, or to push out some extra forced reps.

I never heard of belt squats, those look fantastic. Sometimes I want to do deadlifts without putting upper body into it (especially when Im hurt which is most of the time, lol!) or do squats but my old back gets achy and cramped time to time. This looks worth trying for sure, just need a couple pieces of equipment it will be worth it.

Damn, just when I thought we all could make it a full day away from here I couldnt resist.

If Trump faces charges for his election fraud stance, that will be the best time for him to present the actual evidence he has in defense

They all made it clear they dont care about evidence. Its a waste of time, everybody with common sense already knows the election was clearly stolen.

This whole thing is nothing but a political shytshow. The same people that called dead murdered cops racist all year all the sudden are traumatized, yeah right.

No the Trump lawyers made it clear that there wasn't evidence.

So maybe this time they will present some

I saw some of it and it looked that way. Id guess they are taking the politically correct out of this so they can move on. The other side made it clear they are not open to evidence anyways, so they will stick to fighting the direct charge that he caused a "riot." I really dont believe any of these lawyers or even the other side really think the election wasnt stolen.

Fox News are trying to get the courts to dismiss the 2.7 billion dollar lawsuit filed against them. I hope the courts allow it to be heard.

Obviously with the stacks of evidence everyone has it will be an easy win for Fox News

Did you notice on first day the Senators voted to declare this unusual impeachment to be "constitutional".

Why wasn't the Supreme Court petitioned to make that decision? Why isn't Justice Robert's presiding?

And since when do we decide if something is constitutional based on a simple majority vote by politicians!?!?!?

in the case of a presidential impeachment trial the chief justice of the supreme court presides...
Is it still not ultimately determined by politicians voting?
In impeachment proceedings, the House of Representatives charges an official of the federal government by approving, by majority vote, articles of impeachment. A committee of representatives, called “managers,” acts as prosecutors before the Senate. The Senate sits as a High Court of Impeachment in which senators consider evidence, hear witnesses, and vote to acquit or convict the impeached official. In the case of presidential impeachment trials, the chief justice of the United States presides.

Invalid Link Removed

The Chief Justice presides in a largely ceremonial role, but is NOT the one making the decision as you seem to be suggesting:

The Senate is tasked with handling the impeachment trial, which is presided over by the chief justice of the United States in the case of sitting presidents. However, in this unusual case, since Trump is not a sitting president, the largely ceremonial task has been left to the Senate pro tempore, Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., the chamber's most senior member of the majority party.
While the Senate trial has the power to oust a president from office, and ban him or her from running for future office, it does not have the power to send a president to jail. Disqualification from holding office, a separate process, requires a simple majority vote, according to the Congressional Research Service.

Isn’t the politicians voting how impeachment trials always work?

In the process of impeachment, the senators only listen to evidence and vote guilty or not. The senate cannot logically be both judge and jury.

In this case, there was a question whether the process of impeachment trial by Senate even applies to a private citizen (no longer the President). A very real constitutional question.

Enough of a constitutional issue that the Chief Justice did not choose to even preside (because per the Constitution, the Chief Justice presides over the impeachment trial of the President). No wording or instructions exist for how to handle a former President.

The Senate is running amok. THEY should not be interpreting the constitution regarding checks and balances between the branches.

By this interpretation, the next Republican house can likely imeach Obama, long out of power.

Im not really a fan of Lou Dobbs, but thats the very last guy on CiaNN to ever refer to China as "Red China." This was a short period or around the Beijing olympics.

They would have to bring up an action of Obama's from WHEN HE WAS IN OFFICE to try to impeach him after he's no longer in office though. IF they could do that, then perhaps you have a theoretical point. But by your logic, a President can be do ANYTHING their last day/week/month in office and they can NEVER be impeached because they'll already be out of office. But it's not pointless, as the point is to make it so they can't hold federal office in the future. And to revoke benefits they would retain once they leave office under normal circumstances.

And I'm NOT speaking to this case in particular, just the general rule and precedent, since that's what you're doing by bringing up Obama.

going to take two-thirds of senate to convict trump...i see the usual 3-5 republicans voting to convict but i don't see enough republicans voting to convict to get er done-17 will be needed.

without a conviction there won't be any vote on trump never running for office---the whole thing seems to fly in the face of biden's promise of uniting and healing the country?

I mean, one can easily argue that responsibility for one's actions isn't inconsistent with unity and healing. So a fair trial (you can decide if you think this is or not, I'm not jumping into that rabbit hole with you now) would not at all be inconsistent with this theory. Suggesting that potential wrongdoing just be "left in the past" for the sake of "unity and healing" can lead to a festering, and may serve to lead to a cycle of one side doing terrible things, and then it being totally forgotten when the next side comes to power, rinse and repeat ad nauseum.

Again, not making any claims on THIS actual trial and president, just the general precedent and ideas behind what you are saying.

It seems like sometimes people ITT just like to be hyperbolic without really thinking with any level of nuance, just spouting off catchy slogans and phrases and "gotcha" quotes that sound nice at a cursory level. And you guys are better than that.

Its really hillarious how the leader of the impeachment hearings announced this to be "the most bi-partison impeachment hearing in history!"

Well, he isnt mathematically inaccurate I guess.
