Donald Trump running for president

I have been enjoying Scooters coffee which are popping up all over OKC. My other go to coffee place is Stella Nova which makes a good Americano.

Scooters has pretty heavy presence here in MO - well, at least in my city and 30min north. I usually get whatever blend they have that week with a stevia. They’re pretty good. However, cold brew I’d have to give to Dunn Brothers coffee 🤤🤤

We have 1 that just opened and 2 more under construction. I always grab their rotational or seasonal. Before I went OCONUS I had their hazelnut blend. Not overbearing and subtle enough. Gave me a wicked craving for Nutella though.

I do not like the taste of Starbucks. It has a burnt taste and a funny after taste. I avoid it not because of political views or cancel culture. I avoid it because I think McDonalds coffee actually tasted better. I am a big coffee guy. As a matter of fact I am actually looking into making a move into the coffee business as we speak.

I never liked their drip coffee too much other than their lighter Pike's place a little, but I always absolutely love their espresso drinks.

Last year I discovered Nespresso and got a nice machine. Vertuo style which uses centerfusion. After a single taste test at an official Nespresso store I was hooked.

Its the best coffee I ever had and drink 4-6 cups every day including decaf of course. Its expensive at $1+ a pod, but still much better than a $4+ large latte.

I agree. My friend who has not worked since 2012-2013 got a stimulus check and spent it right away on a new laptop so he can work on his YouTube channel (he has like 38 subs). 🤦🏽‍♀️

I bought my first shotgun, LOL

So funny story about the nespresso. I was in Qatar for work and was in the reception of the hotel and couldn’t get a cup of coffee, but they had the nespresso machine there. I made one of those mini shots and drank that. it was really good. Well I am used to drinking a few mugs of coffee so I sat there and drank about 5 or 6 of those shots to wet my appetite. On the way to the base I was fucking wired. My leg was jumping and my heart was racing. It was like a shot of adrenaline. Almost made me buy a nespresso machine. I like the purple and black packs.

Get the Vertuo style. Your limited because each pod has a scanner on the pod and they dont let anybody license it, but wow.

A year before that I bought a Kurig, I loved its simplicity but it never matched fresh ground drip coffee, the Nespresso matched the simplicity but surpassed quality....surpassed cost too but its worth it.

I was surprised too I always thought of Nestle as a cheap chocolate brand.

Those milk frothers are incredible as well.

Of course I tried lots of coffee when I worked there for 1 year, but it was a long time ago so I don’t recall many specifics. I do remember really enjoying Kona, and Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, but of course there were so many more that have just slipped from my memory.

So everyone needs to know this fun fact! We used to get shipped huge bags of the raw coffee beans from all over the world. Somehow, a bag of bulk coffee beans labeled “Dunkin Donuts” was accidentally delivered to us. We opened it up and there were many rocks mixed in throughout the beans. I don’t think I need to say anything else about that.

Lol, that doesn't bother me even a little. I am in Commercial real estate, and have been in enough restaurant kitchens to tell you that no one would be complaining about not being able to go out to eat during covid if they had seen the things I have seen, haha.

I am also working on opening up a logistics company for cold storage. One of the recent fun facts I have learned is that a lot of bakery manufacturers, and companies that use flour (for instance) in their products will freeze the flour before they use it. Why? Because flour gets bugs in it...and freezing it will kill the bugs before they use it to make their products.

I like grinding my beans and using my Technivorm Moccamaster. It makes exceptionally good coffee. If I need a single cup then I use my press with some fresh grounds.

Also like making cowboy coffee every now and then as well.

As far as coffee - tests have shown that Dunkin actually has the highest levels of dissolved solids in their coffee - closer to the standards set out - than any of the other major chains. Still, not the best coffee.

Making a good cup of coffee is pretty difficult - there is a lot of science in it that most people have no clue about and the najor chains have skewed what people think is good coffee with their low quality products. Get some quality beans (very hard) and a technivorm and that is usually a good start. But delivering that in a fast food, reproduceable setting is tough.

I used to not drink coffee at all, but once I started taking it black...I realized this weird dichotomy where now I can drink really crappy coffee just fine....but also taste the difference in a good cup. I have had good cups from Starbucks and bad cups. Dunkin tends to be over extracted but still weak (crappy beans). No chain is really good though, at least not consistently.

Beat me to the technivorm haha

Beat me to the technivorm haha

That machine will completely change the quality of coffee. The most important part for me is water quality. I use a whole home water filter into a culligan softener system for my whole house and then at the sink I have a reverse osmosis triple filter system that produces the most pure water you can get. Shitty water = shitty coffee.

When I was still using drip coffee I would buy real Vietnamese coffee time to time, it has a flavor added to it but its interestingly good. Not talking about the "Cafe de Mundo" which most resturaunts use these days which isnt real Vietnamese coffee. That was started by Vietnamese in New Orleans who ran into coffee that most closely resembled their home but its definitely not the same.

Trung Nyuyen seems to be a mainstream brand that I like just avoid the instant it sucks imo. I always went for the "Creative' line.

Vietnam has some great beans too

And the website has interesting beans globally as well

You aren’t referring to the chicory coffee are you?

The most interesting and expensive coffee is "Civet" coffee where they feed these creatures coffee beans and they shyt it out and thats what you brew, lol

I havent pulled the plug and try it yet but I thought you all might find it interesting. Very expensive.

Thats not true Vietnamese coffee, thats the New Orleans local Vietnamese that they use.

Its not bad but it doesnt really resemble real Vietnamese coffee.

This has a good description in one of Trung Nyuyen Creative Coffees.

Vietnamese coffee is best with milk, it never grew on me black.

Normally they use " sweetened condensed" milk which is extremely high in calories and Ive avoided because I watch my diet and once Im hooked I have problems, LOL Just using milk works great.

The real way to brew it is with this below, but I always just use a drip machine. Keep in mind if you use a grinder you probably want to clean it out well before going back to regular coffee as the flavor sticks.

This is the milk, I actually never knew what it was until I learned about Vietnamese coffee.

interesting...i don't know about army but the navy used to supply us with all the ground coffee we could drink...i remember there being around 500 of those huge aluminum pots scattered around the eisenhower. it wasn't the best, but it got the job done-10 to 15 cups got me pretty wired, lol.

I use to work for the largest food distributor in America. Restaurants, no matter how luxurious or high end are grossssss..... and big chain restaurants, you’re paying for microwaved food.

I remember doing catering for a high quality company,

We would even do political events. I cleaned up Hitlery's table once, after she left the room though. Political events had the biggest drunks I ever seen but thats another story.

Anyways, we always would just brew decaf to simplify and because they said it cost less, and we would go around with two pitchers and ask each person if they want regular or decaf!

Yeah it’s different on fobs and outposts. Actual coffee shops usually. Full selection of drip, blended, iced, teas, protein shakes, smoothies, and hot chocolate. It’s a different world nowadays man.

Only two bands on this planet that sound better the louder you listen to them. Pink Floyd and AC/DC. Every other band has a volume limit except those two.
