That would be fantastic. I am happily voting libertarian for corporate commissioner. The senate seat and presidential seat I can’t leave to chance or the democrat will swoop in and win. An unacceptable risk.

I understand, local makes biggest impact.

I helped a Libertarian DA win last year, it was too close to call and recounted...I was proud to help him win by just a measly 100 or so votes difference.

2 years ago I helped the libertarian Governor be a mandatory ballot next election.

Little things go a long way,

If you vote for Dump I get it he is positively the lesser of evils although I argue many of his policies aren’t much different :)

You should maybe proof-read what you write? You call out Ax1 for his definition of facts....well...what is your definition of "typical"? Is it 20%? 20% including people who lost elections because their constituents didn't support their statements?

Haha - we agree a lot here. I do think extremism is a big issue on both sides. And it can be hard to see in the current environment. You almost have to become extreme sometimes to fight the extremism on the other side - or at least that is instinctually how it feels. Not sure if it has always been like this, or if I am just getting older.

Just so you know, I feel like it can be hard on these threads to have these discussions - I think you and I would have good convos IRL - we may not agree, but that is good. That's how new ideas and solutions are created.

In the last paragraph - I don't deny it happens. But I think it's much less of a problem and we have come a long way - but it gets over-used as a defense. Like you say, the color of someone's skin has no bearing on most things. Just like you won't ever see, "Blond man shoots brown-haired man over bar dispute" in the paper. It's moronic. But on the same hand, we will ALWAYS have some prejudice and bias. It's human nature, it's a survival tactic. We gravitate toward our tribes. Our tribes tend to look like us, etc. It's human instinct. If I see someone very different than me, I may take notice and be on alert.

Now, there's a difference between that and being overly reactive to something. I mean, if I see a bum on the street I may take alert as I walk by...white or black....and I may actually be on high alert because who knows how he's going to react....but I may also come back and bring him a sandwich and a cup of coffee - because my instincts and logic don't have to be at odds. I can be cautious and reasonable all at the same time.

Now, someone seeing a black man who has done nothing wrong and following him through a store or pulling a gun on him just because they are fearful of his blackness....that's not reasonable and beyond cautious. It is just stupid.



I agree with you on a lot of this...but I also think discord is created by using black deaths to sell papers and create issues. When a cop shoots an innocent white man, I bet you don't hear that much about it. There isn't rioting in the streets. And when they shoot a violent white man, you probably never hear about it. But if they shoot a black man - whether 100% innocent or violent - you hear about the color of his skin. I'm sorry, but almost all of the videos that have come out of black men being shot during BLM have involved people undertaking criminal activities and resisting arrest. Is it tragic when someone dies over something stupid like counterfeiting money? Yes - but if you are going to resist arrest that is a risk you are putting on yourself. However, even in that case it's not clear the cops killed the guy. He was clearly showing signs of opioid overdose prior to the "choke hold" and the cop may not even have killed him. I'm not saying that is fact...I'm saying it is possible.

Now, if I saw someone NOT resisting arrest and they are just beating him over a $20 bill being fake - I don't care what color his skin is, that cop deserves to be punished HARSHLY.

But nobody cares that innocent white men are getting shot. Only black men - innocent or not.

There was a TV show during our primetime called the Trump Show which highlighted that Trump 'used' quid pro quo to throw Bidens name into disrepute - something that is very much not legal and undoubtedly a 'scandal' I'm sure you are aware of.

He says he didn't 'use' quid pro quo, yet I honestly don't see how withholding over a quarter of a billion dollars in aid until the President of a foreign national yields to your request is not 'quid pro quo'. If it were a Democratic leader using their position to influence foreign powers to manipulate an election, Republicans would absolutely, and justifiably lose their s***.

It isn't something I really care about, but the smear campaign to cast doubt in the mind of the public is very obvious. Trump has attacked Bidens character, his sons character, called Democrats and liberals 'evil', and is blatantly and actively dividing the nation to win votes. I've attached 4 images from Donald trumps twitter showing posts within the last 3 hours. Notice a trend here?

Anyone that has worked in law enforcement will tell you biases exist. It may be themselves, their colleagues or the callers, but they are aware it exists. Everyone holds biases, it is how you act on those biases that determines your character.

I've never had a dispatch radio me over white kids riding bikes in affluent areas, but I can tell you i've had calls about Maori or Polynesian kids hanging out in affluent areas because the caller thought "they didn't belong". I've never had dispatch tell me about a call regarding about a suspicious white male just strolling down the road, but i've had it for Maori and Polynesians.
The number of times someone has been profiled as 'violent' based on nothing but skin colour would alarm you.

Obviously I can only provide examples from NZ, but you could ask a dispatcher anywhere in the US if they get similar calls and I'd bet they would. There are certainly more than a few videos of white people calling, or threatening to call police because they were approach by a Black person - the lady with her dog off lease in the park is a recent example.
The callers are not going around waving Nazi flags or burning crosses or pledging allegiance to white supremacy, and I'd bet that most do not view themselves as holding prejudices, but they do.

Do you really believe George Floyd just happened to die of opioid overdose at the same time he was being pinned down by the neck? Hell of a co-incidence, isn't it? If the cop was following standard procedure and the person died, I would expect an inquest into whether the action needs to be reviewed. I don't believe a cop should be held personally liable for following standard procedure.

What the cop did was absolutely wrong, but so is making a drug addict low life scumbag loser who threatened to shoot and kill his pregnant girlfriend if she didnt give him money so he can buy crack as the face of a social justice movement who only had to blame himself for being in that position in the first place.

The truth is Demicans want to monopolize the entire health care system and enforce it via IRS to satisfy their corporate lobby thats paying for their campaign financing as well as other favors to further boost their stock portfolio and eliminate smaller competition and old fashioned doctor patient relationships in the name of a false sense of better health care so the votes for more government tyranny keep flowing in.

Its pure corruption, and people who think they are fighting corruption vote in more corruption to fight corruption. None of it makes any sense.

I am sure you know that Biden is on tape bragging about withholding funds from the Ukraine to get what he wanted, something that arguably provided a direct benefit to his corrupt son - and what Trump was doing was trying to investigate that. So yes, if that happened, we should expect an investigation. Except Trump was investigating the crime...and it got used against him. This was before Biden was the nominee and they claimed it was to his benefit. Wonder what they knew to be able to see a year ahead?

I can agree that individuals may be racist and may call in offenses using racial terms. I disagree that the system is racist or the majority of police are racist. Of course it could be relevant to say the cor of a suspects hair, eyes, skin color, hair style, etc. To identify the correct person but I won't argue that individuals have biases.

As far as Floyd, he was complaining about his breathing before there was any real force being used, and showing signs of respiratory suppression. And then he became combative. The second I saw the footage with the full incident I thought, "looks like a clear opioid OD." Then an autopsy came out showing sufficiently high opioid levels for an OD and metabolites of methamphetamine. So, no, not a coincidence. Highly likely he was in trouble whether that cop showed up or not and that cop now has to pay for a person ODing. It isn't reasonable to say that the cop killed him beyond a shadow of a doubt. It is reasonable to believe the cop DID NOT kill him though.

The evidence is clear.

It was already lost and gone years ago. We need to fund scientists to bring Washington and Jefferson back from the bones. Just need to show them how to use a few things other than muzzle-loaders, but they should be able to pick up on that. They would be voting for Jorgensen though, thats a fact.

Well that was easy, voted less than 5 minutes. Nobody on like thanks to CCP virus fearing maniacs who chose to pack on line and vote early out of the illusion of safety concerns.

Not a single person was there and 1 showed up while I was on my way out.

I early voted and there was probably 800 people in line at 4:30 when poll closed at 5 pm so that was cool to see.
 
there were actually quite a few there when i voted today-not nearly as many as 2016, but many machines were occupied...in 2016 my wife and i had to wait, this afternoon we got right in.
 
My neighbor was in line over 2 hours and still had an hour left to go. I just finished up lunch and headed that way now.

I never got why elections were on a single day anyways, its better this way....not talking about mail in voting because thats a horrible idea.

i worked as a election official a few times, it's pretty expensive to pay each worker between $50-$75, pay for the space and all of the incidentals involved in a election.

i just checked, last time i worked a election was in the 80's, now here in indiana the pay is up to $150, and counters get paid $8.50 an hour-if you factor in state wide this is a considerable amount.

Trump won Florida, Texas, and likely Ohio. He’s going to win, which I don’t think comes as a surprise to anyone in here.
