Best Bike for Cardio Weightloss

Hey Guys

I am cutting to many calories in my current cut and need to introduce some cardio everyday. I am looking for a used indoor bike in my area, what kind is best to add to a muscle building/cutting regiment a fan bike like a airdyne or a spin bike with flywheel? Which do people prefer?

I wish I could go to the gym and trial both for a couple weeks then pick but unfortunately that’s not possible now. Also I cant just go outside and run as it bothers my torn meniscus.

Thanks for the input guys

Airdyne would be my pick. Then I would be doing more of a HIIT cardio sessions.

Anyone you will use, that's the key !!

I have a Schwinn indoor recumbent bike that I purchased after my son had UCL surgery about 18 years ago (they harvest a hamstring ligament and transplant that into the elbow, so there needed to be a way to rehab his legs). It is programmable, does everything I need it to, and is reliable. I bought it new at Costco. They key is using the bike. I think that is much more important than the bike itself.

I have been told to be weary of a Menstrual Cycle.

I own an assault bike that I love.

If looking for something cheaper then many Airdynes can be found pretty cheap on things like FB marketplace and Craiglist, depending on your area. It sucks for them, but you could look at any gyms in the area that may be closing or offloading stuff. I know some around here that had to get rid of spin bikes and sold them at a good price.

Same in my area. The mom and pop gyms are having to start selling equipment :(

Sad, they tell you everyday how my people have the virus, but the don't tell you how many lives have been ruined by people without it.

That's for sure. A lot of people/businesses are hurting due to covid. Ready for things to get back to normal (whatever normal may be). :)

Thanks for the input guys. Using it won’t be the problem, I am pretty determined to get this last bit of fat. Diet alone just isn’t cutting it anymore and my calories are now less than 2000

I am going to look for a fan bike or airdyne used locally. Even with the gym closures equipment is still scarce and overpriced due to shortages. But the fan bikes are not seeming to sell due to everyone wanting a peloton, so hoping for a good deal

Where are you located ?

If you have the money to spend, get a Peloton. They’re awesome. But they’re really expensive. My brother-in-law gifted my wife and I one back in February. My wife started riding it everyday during the COVID shutdown. Now the gym is open, she still rides during her lunch break. But like I said they’re really expensive.

Thanks again for the helpful input guys

I actually found what I believe is a good bike at a good price locally. Pick it up yesterday

Got this guy for $650 in like new condition. It basically the same thing as the Schwinn airdyne AD7 with some upgrades for commercial use

Good Deal !

Hi, guys! I also want to try making sport from home. I want to buy an exercise machine. I was thinking about the one for cardio workouts. Treadmills and exercise bikes are really expensive for me, but a magnetic rowing machine can be a good variant. Is it effective for home-workouts? Сan you recommend me a good model? I have come across this Invalid Link Removed

The Concept 2 rowing machines are probably the best quality. May be a little high in price but will last you a while.

I never really cared for the Rowing Machines, but I probably never gave them a fair chance.

Bringing this thread back from the died !!

I need to get a bike again!

Bringing this thread back from the died !!

I feel like there are a lot of threads that we could just bring back from the dead and probably have different answers than what we did before

We learn over time...................... I remember the old Weider Magazines in the 70's told us Anabolic Steroids' didn't work!

There must have bee a steroid shortage so that's what they said, they didn't work ;)

Back than you could find a shady Dr. and he would just write you a script........... as they say everything comes full circle.

Sure to burn some calories with this model

Any form of cardio is good as long as you push yourself. When I use the bike I usually do intervals, for example : 30 seconds medium speed, 30 seconds fairly fast and then 30 seconds as fast as possible. I'd do that for 25 minutes and be drenched in sweat. Or just ride to work onInvalid Link Removed bike.

I don't like cardio machines that don't include upper body. get a bike that has moving handles like liver king uses. or a rower or elipticle. just don't do lower body only cardio.

Nice Bike !

A bmx bike, you get the cardio and can do tricks which include lifting a 30ish lb bike over over again

I always thought it would be fun to race one of these.

old thread... not sure if you did make a decision... I raced BMX for years competitively, national events etc. and I also competed later in xfit where we had nothing but concept 2 rowers and airdyne bikes...

personally... I prefer a regular studio style spin bike with the weighted wheel if I'm just looking for cycling cardio. you can do sprints on it, or LISS.

the airdynes and concept 2's are great machines but I prefer them for HIIT only, personally. I don't want to spend more than 1 minute intervals on a airdyne bike or maybe 2-10 minutes tops on a concept 2, but I can go a half hour no problem on a spin bike and throw in HIIT like 30sec on : 30 sec off for 10-20 minutes in between warmup and cool down.

just my 2 cents (worth 1)

again.... that's just my bmx history and preference for long goes at it. the other styles of bikes and rowers are definitely incredible.

I got a cheap walking pad from Amazon. That thing is cool. I watch a movie and walk for hour hour and a half maybe more.

I also have a bike but feel like sitting is harder to do than just glong for a walk.

I never heard of a walking pad, had to google it !

Yeah they're cheap as **** on Amazon. Treadmill is more heavy duty, you can run on a treadmill. I paid around d 350 for my pad.

Nice !
