If a cop has a tank, I dont think he cares about your protection.

It's a job - a job known for inherent risks dealing with unstable people. However you are there not for your own protection, but either for theirs or someone else's. If you need a tank to police, you aren't policing.

Lol. 4 examples. There is no solution to eliminate mistakes, bad apples, and occasional stupid decisions. Nothing. It starts with people not being world class assholes to eliminate police interactions. Until such time I will not blame police for taking defensive measures to protect themselves while trying to carry out their duty in a world filled with **** for brain deviants that can’t find a way to be a functioning member of society.

I used 7 examples. I'm sure glad those officers got to go home, considering they just took 7 lives from people who weren't even a threat.

And those were from a very very quick google search.

I was a cop for years, and still work in law enforcement. Guess how many people I've killed.

None.

Guess how many people have threatened me?

If I wasn't threatened at least a few times a day, I'd go home thinking that was a pretty successful day.

I once had a guy pull a knife on me and by the end of our interaction we were both sitting down laughing. Didn't shoot him

I know this has been put out there a time or two. You. Are. In. New Zealand. That’s good for you and any police officer should be proud and thankful to have never had to discharge his/her weapon in the line of duty.

Not to scale you don’t. Or your police aren’t as proactive? How should I know? All I know is our cities are filled with stupid assholes that refuse to be a functioning part of our society. I wish I had the answer for that because I can’t seem to get my mindset to their level. The solution to the problem will be figuring out how to convince people that being a thug is not cool.

There's a whole subset of people who dont feel like the police are protecting them, and instead persecuting them.

I feel the police protect me. I know a lot of people who trust and respect the police. I do. But I also accept some people have been let down by police.

When you trust police, you see police as helpers. But when you are constantly targeted by them, you lose that trust. So depending on where you sit will depend on whether the armoured vehicles are seen as protection for police, or as highly armed units designed to persecute you even more.

Sometimes you just have to talk to people who are constantly harassed to understand why this is such a big issue for them. It might be trivial for you- but everyone has different experiences and a lot of them are not positive

For any reason anyone can find. A friend of mine got pulled over for driving his car and the cop literally said "your profile didn't match the kind of person who'd drive this kind of car".

Stuff like that happens a lot

My agency has a Lenco Bear Cat. Yes Lenco makes them for DOD and law enforcement. But this is what it comes down to. The US has some violent MF’ers and when they decide to go ballistic, SWAT is called. And if a small LE agency can’t afford a Bear Cat, and an old APC is all they can get their hands on, then so be it. You know why? Because bullets being shot at you don’t penetrate armor.

Yeah I call BS on this one. They still need PC to pull someone over and they do have cameras in the cars that are filming. But I have a friend stories are usually pretty good, along with fishing stories.

If you don’t pass a counterfeit bill you won’t have to worried about getting killed by a cop, probably because you won’t have an interaction with a cop. What part of don’t commit crime, don’t have interactions with cops is difficult to comprehend?

It sure as hell lessens your chance. I in no way condone what the office did to George Floyd but if anyone of any color didn’t commit a crime and was respectful and cooperative when coming in contact with LEO’s then everything would be fine.

We are a large county with 300 million people and out of control illegal immigration with a lawless corrupt government who run drug rings and hand out guns to cartels they can control. They are going to push many stories as if this was all that was going on in our country, and then when you look at many of these cases you have scumbag criminals who just robbed a store and threatened a cop get shot and people call and cry racist. Its a crazy mess. Of course unjustified incidents out of millions of encounters surely occur.

Where is all the outrage of regular Americans killing Americans? Thats far more likely than being killed by a cop, and if your not an azzhole chances of being killed by a cop is almost impossible.

I was all on that and then Atlanta happened and that really took the steam out of everything for me. Still support justice form and reforms in the policing system but thats because I always had.

Yeah I heard alot of stories, I used to take martial arts with police officers and military. My instructor was a homicide detective and studied blood splatter, there were a number of stories of police including himself getting jumped on by multiple people simply walking the street. Its a crazy world out there.
