And I'm not even super-anti-Trump, but what do you mean he "would go to war and not bat an eyelash?" He has repeatedly gotten out of going to wars/serving himself. Of course, a lot of people tried to get out of serving, but it is not accurate to claim what you claimed based on the actual actions he's taken in his life. Talk and actions are two very different things...

So only people who have served can point out that Trump avoided the draft? I don't get that logic. Did he not? Is it true or is it not true? Who makes the claim is irrelevant. Furthermore, justhere can, hypothetically, be a coward who would avoid the draft himself; that doesn't mean that his criticism of Trump is invalid. Criticsim/statements should stand on their own merit, not be dependent who is saying them.

I signed up for selective services when I was of age. I also crushed the NDLABS and the ASVAB. Was going to be a language and code breaker.

I suffered a bout with depression.
Couldn’t do it. Hope that’s ok with you. Dad got cancer. I had to help take care of him.

So not only can you diagnose anyone with COVID, but you can also evaluate what someone is like based on a few comments on the internet. So you're more knowledgeable about novel viruses than leading infectious disease doctors, and you're also, what, a psychiatrist/psychologist too?

My "having to be right all the time" doesn't disprove that you're irrefutably wrong here. So if I'm hard to live with for having to be right, you're also hard to live with because you incessantly spout off inane drivel and claim to KNOW it's a FACT.

it was a different time...there were many ways people of wealth kept their children from being drafted...lots of people you might have respect for probably found a way to dodge the draft--college being one of them. CCR made a song-FORTUNATE SON, you ever hear it?

I know that song haha! I 100% know that people tried to get out of being drafted, and I can't say that I don't get why a lot of people did it. I'm just claiming that, based on his actual actions, it's not accurate to say that he's a "savage who would go to war without batting an eye." That's just such a silly comment. I know you didn't say it, someone else did, but Trump's actions don't match up with that claim.

No actions either of them have taken support that claim, frankly, no offense to justhere, but most people would bat an eye going to war, including a lot of people who actually served. Serving and being brave doesn't mean having no fear, it means overcoming that fear.

Trump said just now at the briefing he is going to leave the decision on when to open to the governors. Smart decision since it respects state’s rights and also takes the potential blame If things go south off of him.

I enjoy discussing it, but I go into it determined to not make it personal by insulting people personally or launching ad hominem attacks, rather I try to focus on facts and stay on topic and be respectful. I also go into it realizing that it is like discussing religion in the aspect that you can give the most persuasive logical arguments based on facts, but rarely are you going to change someone’s mind or position no matter how sound and rational one’s argument is.

True. Not to mention that some states may be hit much harder than others, and reopening entirely may be a good idea at different times from state to state. Forcing all 50 states to open at the same time could mean that some open up too soon, or that some stay closed unnecessarily long, depending on which side he hypothetically went to.

That's actually a fair point. It's not like the majority of his opposition have served. And, in modern American politics, "supporting" a candidate often just means disliking them the least.

Oh, I 100% see the hate towards him; I’ve legit heard a ton of people claim they want to see the economy tank, or the country fail, so it hurts Trump and/or means he doesn’t get re-elected.

Shouldn’t you want the president to lead the country well, even if you don’t like them? Wishing for the country to fail because you don’t like the president is akin to wanting the plane you are on to crash because you hate the pilot.
