My in-laws think it's a hoax still because all they watch is FOX News.
They have no idea the implications if one of them gets Covid-19, and how their daughter, my wife will not be coming to help them. No way in hell would I subject her to anything like their inability to take this seriously.

We both told them.
"Do you realize if you get this, your wife / husband cannot visit you and if you die, it would be earth shattering to the other."

Order all for delivery.
You have a son that lives up there by you. He can get things for you.

It's like talking to a wall. (Pun intended)

NO DEMOCRATS I KNOW WANT OPEN BORDERS.
I've stated already. Illegal is illegal. Do it right.

Stop watching Fox News. It is not news nor is it entertaining.
have you ever even watched Fox? try watching Tucker Carlson...he tells it like it is--I agree Hannity is out there and I haven't watched him in quite awhile, but Tucker is the man!!!

you are so misinformed you really need to get caught up-the democrats are almost entirely for open borders-hell, Hillary ran on open borders, and she is a moderate compared to how far left you democrats have gone!!!

Did you read more than the abstract?

Whats the concentration of TTO it takes to begin showing antiviral properties? Because a lot of the studies covered in that study are using 2-5% oil directly on the skin, not diffusing it out into the air.

Theres a passage in there stating TTO “did not perform well” against HSV-2 infection in mice.

When you say “less harsh than all of the chemicals”, what do you mean by that? Do you mean that alcohol or chlorhexadine based sanitizers arent well tolerated? Do you mean that TTO has zero adverse reactions associated with it? Do you mean that TTO has less adverse reactions than conventional therapys? If so, how do you know this?
No, I don;t think iso alcohol is too harsh , but can dry out the skin too much and kill our good bacteria which has defense mechanisms within itself

Chlorox and lysol seem harsh

Obviously oils won't be as effective, but if you're desperate, it's better than nothing

you can make your own hand sanitzer w/ aloe vera, alcohol and some essential oils mixed in

Random rant, but some people are absolute idiots. A friend of mine (logically) made a post saying something to the effect of “to all you anti-vaxers, how do you like the world without ONE vaccine?” Then some moron started saying about how, while vaccines can help, they can do as much harm, or even more harm, than good. I assumed she meant in terms of supposedly causing autism, so I posted mountains of research showing that there is no link, and she then said she meant diabetes, not autism. So I posted several studies and meta-analyses showing no increased risk of developing diabetes, and maybe even an inverse association. So she then changed it to arthritis, not diabetes lol. And then she accused me of “keep using the same site!” I was using PubMed, which is just a database, and every paper was published in other medical journals, so I had to explain that to her and post links to the journal publication page of the same study. She doesn’t even know what PubMed is, yet she thinks she’s informed and educated in regards to scientific research. What a joke!

Edit: I tried explaining the concept of herd immunity to her, and how, yes, if she doesn’t vaccinate her one or two kids, they can likely coast by on herd immunity, but if every selfish, entitled, ignorant “researcher” did the same, there would be no herd immunity. Unless your child has some legitimate medical conditions that would make getting vaccinated contraindicated, get your damn kids vaccinated.

with all due respect brother, completely disregarding everything else about fox news, their coverage of the virus has been terrible. People who ONLY listen to Fox News and bought into the "this is a hoax" by democrats, completely disregarded the stay at home recommendations that practically EVERY other news station agreed with, and went out and got themselves infected and infected loved ones. I live in the south where its largely conservative and if you walk into a bar, or even the airport, Fox News is what's on. Their coverage and refusal to acknowledge basic safe practices, has directly led to people being infected.

thank you for your civility, that is very rare when people disagree...I don't always agree with fox, but as a conservative I can't stand the 24/7 trump trashing the other networks do. I would be willing to bet that is how many conservatives feel.

I have zero love for the President, more to do with who he is as a human and less so because of his political career, but even I am exhausted at the constant nitpicking and complaining about every little thing he does. Guy can't even breathe without someone bashing the way his nostrils flare. So I completely understand

nice post!!! I think even moderate democrats are tiring of the constant trump bashing, and are looking for more from the democrat party other than being anti-trump.

TIL Canadas 3M President is named Penny Wise, lol

3M responded earlier Friday that there would be “significant humanitarian implications of halting supplies of respirators to health-care workers in Canada and Latin America.”
Good news is that Trump will allow exports to hard hit countries like Italy, but it would be good to see more exemptions in there, especially as he has been reaching out to other countries asking for more resources.

I’d say a real "safe" long long term dose could be 100-150max mg per week. Now what people really do during a cruise is add about 200mg of primo to their test. What I did last 3 months and a half was 200 test 300 primo. Not something I’ll often do during cruises as I wouldn’t call it a cruise anymore lmao. Bloodworks came back all in range rbc, males, thyroid, liver, kidney, CRP and for me that’s pretty much all that matters for now. I wouldn’t tell anybody doing that and I wouldn’t say it’s safe long term either!

Also, just lol.

5 weeks ago: 1 death
4 weeks ago: 19 deaths
3 weeks ago: 58 deaths
2 weeks ago: 323 deaths
1 week ago: 2,043 deaths
Right now: 8,488 deaths, 311,365 Cases

Doing the math, in 5 more weeks?
We humans are our own worst enemies.

That's a 2.71% mortality rate.
Do they want this to be worse than the Spanish Flu?

Ok, I agree - and I wager that thebigt agrees - that your inlaws are wrong and it has nothing to do with their politics. They just sound ignorant. Hey, look at the amazing ability that your in-laws have to bring both sides together!

Ok, so what is the
Hadn't seen it - but it makes sense. They aren't saying to list Covid as the sole cause of death to skew results like the article suggests though, IMO. They are saying to list as much info as possible if covid is suspected - covid, pulmonary disease, cardiovascular disease, etc.

It makes sense to gather as much info as possible to find links.

Just like they suspect Type I blood carriers may be less susceptible to the disease - how do you figure that out if you don't have any data for it?

Look at that, the curve is already flattening. Yay.

I mean, unless in 5 weeks we have 72,000,000 dead. Then...not yay.

Edit - of course using my simpleton logic there would be 96,000,000,000 people infected with those numbers too...so you can see the flaws in my thought experiment.

ok, I have reached my breaking point...in this thread I have supported 1st amendment rights out of principle, not because I agreed with congregating in churches during this pandemic...although most churches have voluntarily cancelled church services, I now support the government putting a stop to those that are willing to endanger others--the RIGHT to life overrides the right to be stupid....in my heart I believe JESUS would be against these morons, since he was against the temple when it became corrupted. btw-much respect to Jews as they seem to be the only Abraham religion following the rules unlike Christian churches and Islamic mosques.

Honestly, I always took this as your opinion (maybe because it is how I see it).

But as Muscleupchron kind if opened the door to - I am not sure at least limiting the number of people allowed in any building at any time is removing the rights if anyone and could achieve the goal.

The gov't could adopt a policy that you can only have x number of employees and x number of customers in ANY building based on square footage and it wouldn't be discriminatory in any way and would be in line with laws that are already on the books. If you could only have 1 customer and 1 employee for every 500 sq. Ft. Of space in a building, that would stop a lot of this.

Your typical church would probably only be able to fit 10-15 people at a time.

And maybe that isn't the 100% answer but with other health requirements and adjustments to the above - like maybe you need an extra employee for every 3 customers (which further limits occupancy) to focus on additional sanitization - this would stop a lot of issues everywhere and we already see some stores adopting this voluntarily to some extent.

my argument was against the government arbitrarily suspending the constitution, the 1st amendment is very clear about the government not restricting or limiting freedom of religion in any way...the proper way would be to go though the courts...

but in light of what I feel is a abuse of the 1st amendment, I feel the government needs to step in and protect the citizen's RIGHT TO LIFE.

Here we go again. How are size restrictions that apply to ALL businesses/buildings, not targeted specifically towards houses of worship violations of the freedom of religion? Please, tell me that you must also believe that fire/building codes that establish maximum occupancies for all buildings, INCLUDING churches, also violate this same rights, as they do the same exact thing; they establish how many people can be in one room/building at one time for all buildings, including churches. By this logic, a house of worship should be able to practice their freedom of religion in any way they see fit, without ANY restriction by government; so if they want to cram 500 people in a room only allows 50 by the building/fire code, that’s their right? See how bad your logic is man? If it was a order/law SPECIFICALLY targeting places of worship, then maybe you have an argument, but it’s not...

Maybe because you keep saying “it violates the first amendment. Read the constitution,” yet have never even tried to refute my point...

So if the local building/fire code changed, and the maximum capacity of a church went down from 500 people to 450, it’s an unconstitutional law, as it infringes on the right of the church to worship as it has been and wants to? Because that is EXACTLY what this is...

My parents were telling me about their church service via "zoom" last night and how cool it was to be able to worship at home despite everything.

For a lot of people though it won't feel like enough, and I get that. Here's hoping we can all pull through and come out the other end having learnt some lessons about pandemics

This frustration with others dumbness was exactly what motivated me to post all those pages ago.

In hindsight its a bit lulzy that much of our apparent disagreement ended up hinging on how much we could tolerate of other peoples stupidity.

Oh I definitely think it won't be as much of an issue in the near enough future, especially once we develop antibodies to it through exposure. Even if we dont contract it ourselves, herd immunity will start to develop and ease any future outbreaks.

I dont have a clue how soon it will pose less of a threat, but eventually it will dwindle. When cases do eventually drop, we still need to be vigilant to prevent a second wave

One of the biggest reasons to stay home right now is to slow the spread so that medical resources can cope. If it can be contained, then the likelihood more people will survive increases.

my aunt contracted polio at a young age, it crippled her and made her legs useless. she lived to be 89 years old and was a devout catholic who never whined about her deformity--she worked for goodwill as a seamstress for 40 years until she retired...she always had a great attitude and was very optimistic...if I start to feel down or pessimistic I always think of my aunt louise-weesie!!!
it's strange, my aunt was one of 11 brothers and sisters my mom had and none of the others got polio, towards the end when she was hospitalized the doctors used to come around and treat her like a oddity-none of them had ever saw a person afflicted with polio.

stay optimistic!!!
