Repealing the 2nd Amendment. What would it take?

There is a process for it. It's right there at the end of the Constitution. So the Founding Fathers were at least willing to be edited. They just really made it hard. First, you need to get supermajorities in Congress, two-thirds in both the House and the Senate. And that's an enormous hurdle, especially in the Senate. But even if you get it through Congress, you still need to get your amendment ratified by three-fourths of the states. That's at least 38 states. That has happened only once in the last 40-plus years, and it's a big lift. PUN.

Nobody is going to repeal it. I'm sick of the fear mongering morons on the right.

They tapped right into this thought that people think they're researching because they watched a TED talk or listened to a Joe Rogan podcast. I'm kind of impressed by the evil genius of it. Those videos are good starting points to get interested in a subject, but don't teach critical thinking.

Honestly I really don't think there's a story there. Trump has made a lot of money over real estate deals so who knows how many he has actually done and this is just one. And foreign investors buy real estate sometimes without regard for common sense because the exchange rate is so insanely in their favor. They can always bulldoze what is there and build on top of it. It's part of why I chose Seattle over Vancouver for my last move since I can't compete with investors from Asia who drove the real estate market up to stupid levels there (not that Seattle is much cheaper). I really think this is just a CNN story from 2016 when they were at the height of trying to connect dots on any story that had the words Trump and Russia.

That's sort of the whole point of real estate investment. Like, the whole industry is built on those deals.

And, as the article noted, the buyer had personal reasons for trying to move his assets overseas because of a divorce settlement he was dealing with at the time.

Hell, even the shared article portrays this as an absurd link.

The mansion being in poor repair in 2016 is the least shocking thing ever, if you actually read the article, because it specifically states the buyer (who still held onto the property into 2016) was in the process of tearing it down. If you grow up in a country known for communism, you don't invest in private property there because you know that it could always go back to communism. A stupid investment or a loss is better than losing it all. Same with divorces. People get bitter and would rather take a loss than give the money to a spouse. Maybe you're right on this, but it doesn't seem weird to me.
