Do you believe long term use of pre-workouts/stimulants in general has any bad effects on your body if used for pro longed periods?

I have been off pre workouts for months now. I do drink coffee daily so i still intake caffeine on a daily basis. I have 2 cups of coffee (Normal) and if i drink a coffee later on in the day its always a decaf. So must be intaking around 180-200mg caffeine a day?

I have recently just bought a pre workout and it's awesome to train on one again. Workouts have improved and also just rhat drive and motivation feels good again.

It has a basic (Ish) ingredient panel tbh. 200mg caffeine per serve (I only use 1 serve) No dmaa etc. That's just a scoop of crash & depression that stuff. This pre i don't get any comedown feel etc.

What do you think of prolonged use? Do you believe they have any bad effects on the body in terms of the heart? Burning out your adrenals? Affecting your mental state ie increased anxiety etc?

Just wondered if anyone has ran one for a very long period and noticed no bad effects?

Thanks!

There’s already been a whole thread about this. It was topic of the week several weeks ago. I haven’t stopped using Pre-Workouts in years. I haven’t been convinced there’s really much harm in stimulant use, but I think I may be in the minority on that.

Agreed. As long as you aren't over doing it and you take some stim breakers every so often I think it is fine imo.

Probably good to tske periodic breaks for the CNS if not atleast get enought magnesium which is depleted by caffiene and get enough vitamin C which is used to create cortisol which caffeine increases aswell

I've been using them for about 15 years straight.

Then again I'm pretty hardcore with health/immune supplementation, Iodine, Olive leaf, etc etc.

I take magnesium daily + i use 100mg phosphatidyl serine per day + 400mg ashwaghanda just to keep my cortisol in check.

I don't have any other caffeine source apart from the pre workout. I just have decaf coffee if i am doing a coffee

Just wondered if they do cause any long term problems.. I haven't used them for months though.

I personally noticed an issue with high stimulant intake but it was more then just pre workout in a days time. I was doing what I thought was necessary to get through grad school but hindsight 20/20, yikes. Now my daily intake looks like a cup of coffee in the morning, maybe another around 2pm on rest days. Ironically I have different pre workouts for training at diff times in the day. For example if I train before 3pm I'll hit a heavy stim pre (Chemix), between 3-6pm 200mg or less (Ghost Legend) and then after 6pm is all non stim (MPA Celluvol) which is the majority of my lifts. May seem excessive but after 2 years of averaging 1g+ caffeine (not to mention other stims) a day, I am pretty happy with my current set up lol.
