As a general idea of where to start, to bulk up, you add 500 calories a day.
To cut, you subtract 500 calories a day (or more)
To recomp, you eat maintenance calories, with low fats, median carbs, and high protein.
That’s where you start. Then as you get yourself figured out or as you progress, you adjust the caloric intake to account for the new bodyweight etc. and adjust the macros to better suit your desired leanness within reason.
It’s the same as doing it “natty” (bodybuilding is not a natural act) but you get more out of the whole thing when you’re on gear.
Or for some of us, using gear is the only way to not have a “dad bod” no matter the diet or training otherwise. For me as a natural it’s... Try to bulk, get fat, try to cut, get weak and stay fat. Try to recomp. Lol... you can’t recomp naturally.
