Berberine - should I be concerned with hepatoxicity

A quick google search of berberine suggests potential negative effects on liver and kidney function. Nothing I’ve managed to find on AM even mentions this.
Am I missing something? Seems to be included in a lot of products but my liver has seen enough abuse in my younger years!
Should I be concerned?

studies i've seen specifically say for those with liver issues to be careful with it, yet any/all side effects are experienced in a dose dependent manner.


take the suggested dosing, and you're good to go

I seem to keep coming back to one study in rats. It’s hard to believe so many reputable companies would add this if there was strong evidence of likely harm I guess.

there isn't strong evidence of likely harm. Like my last post stated, its not ideal for those with liver issues but is fine in healthy adults when taking the suggested doses
