Not a ton of accessory work but 7 quality pressing sets will set me up for some growth nonetheless. Day 2 of dropping the 750mg of Epiandro out and bringing in 100mg The 1 & 40mg Superdiol. Feeling good.

HCG came in (since this is going 13 weeks instead of 10) - 500iu in the right delt. Will do Wed & Sundays to keep the boys healthy.

Daily PR’s standard protocol
Nice work!

Thanks! Glad to be making some forward progress again.

This morning was speed pulls, and followed up with axle Continental cleans - was getting horrible shin splints and ended up having to shut it down due to the stabbing pain ruining the second pull. Realized after that I loosened my calves before sled drags Saturday but never loosened them since dragging 800 ☹️

Going back tonight to train upper back.

Fat PR - my strict press is blowing the f up! Both of these logs are a bit tougher than a normal men’s 12” logpress. Reps-wise, best I’ve ever push-pressed the big 210 for is a triple. I JUST STRICT-PRESSED IT, with one left in the tank no less.

I always doubted the idea of me ever hitting a 300 log even. Now, I believe. Not this training cycle, maybe even years from now, but it’s very possible.

Jeez mate looking swole af these days!

Those new slabs of meat are workin overtime! Pretty epic cycle so far and so much more to go. Stoked for ya!

It has really produced some serious results for me. Not cost effective, but a great experience overall and it was already paid for.

Thank you - really enjoying it! Filling out XL shirts now and can wear a 2XL better than a L.

good ish man...that three oh oh is nothing to sneeze at...can't wait to see it fall.

I trained with 4 different guys who could press over 300 on any given day, and that was the best thing to change perspective on what is possible. I highly recommend training with people stronger than you if you ever have the opportunity.

My best friend is a massive beast who can play with all of my maxes like they are nothing. Rep 20+ @ 315 on full ROM incline bench, 495x12 Dead lift for multiple sets without failing, Last time I saw him rep 405 on squats he did 15 reps... Just a beast 350 and 6'2 ex pro ball player. Talk about being pushed at every workout. My goal was to just have to take as little off the bar from his sets as possible. LMAO! Unfortunately he moved to Austin and we never get to train together any more.

Training partners are always temporary arrangements truly, but they can be so worth it. Being challenged unlocks true potential.

FACT! I love to work out with someone who is better than me at whatever we are doing so it pushes me to catch up!

When I was young I had the same training partner for about 5-6 years and it was awesome. We were Bro's and also pushed each other. He always had a leaner more compact muscular frame, and i had a bigger and little softer frame. We were both working toward the strengths the other had while training like maniac in the weight room. It was AWESOME!!!!

Both the 455 & 405 had a rep or two left in the tank - feeling strong AF. Today is only day 6 of The 1 & Superdiol, so I need to be mindful of how hard I push heavy weight. I’m surely going to get stronger over the next 5 weeks, and I’ll need all of my tendons attached to compete.

Workout hangover has been fearsome since the squat session. Friday off, Saturday was just going to practice Continental cleans and fully deload events - 175 cleans were heavy as sin. Went and roadtripped to see fam and friends last night and today and taking today off training as well to further deload.

Show is in 6 weeks, so it’s time to get to focus my training and optimize it to recover for serious event days instead of going into them still worn from a leg day. Dropping lifting to 4 days a weeks:

Yeah and seeing him do all of this is like a light at the end of the tunnel for guys like us still in the middle of that trek back to healthy. With the couple years he had, and now back to doing this well gives me hope that so long as i keep going I will get my situation back in order and have some more PR's in my future.

Pretty cool stuff! I will just keep tending to my bulb for a while and see what happens!

Every day, watering and tending your goals - people can only see the tree when it blows up 90ft tall, but it takes half a decade of work for everything to come to fruition.

When you are sitting there in the dirt, with nothing to show, people are gonna question why you’re bothering, wasting your time. Those people will never be able to appreciate the satisfaction after gutting it out when things weren’t easy and the results weren’t showing.

Dropped the average bands after a couple sets because they were going to make my head explode from the pressure and they were entirely too heavy for what I needed to be doing. I believe my best pull with 480 on a deadlift bar is 6 reps, so 485 on a powerbar for 8 is a serious step up. Left one in the tank. Axle was cake; definitely don’t need to practice that at all.

Man I have felt like a bag of smashed *******s all day - the workout hangover is tremendous from this session. So exhausted it’s tough to think.

Go back to post 1017 on 12/16...you mentioned a bad workout hangover then as well. I dont know how you're feeling the other days but 2 workout hangovers in 3 days sounds like the early signs of needing a couple days to get things right again. You know yourself well enough, but I think its worth considering.

Yeah you’re right! I thought I did address it; I took Friday off per norm then skipped events on Saturday (nothing other than some light axle continental) and bench Sunday entirely. Monday switched program to OHP (much less taxing than Monday deads would have been) and then Tuesday off like usual.

In both scenarios I went for PR rep maxes on squat and dead, so that’s part of it - that’s just tough on the body. I’m hoping the new structure, with only 4 days/wk with 2 lower body days & 2 upper resolves the issue. I’ll be paying attention.

Also, thought this was cool. Basically these are the numbers to be competitive at a national amateur level in strongman. I would say they are very accurate based on my experience watching others:

These aren’t records, and some guys will have crazy numbers in some lifts, but this is the average for what it takes to be in the mix.

Merry Xmas!

Merry Christmas to you, and all you guys in here! Thank you all for your fellowship and advice, truly.

Hung with the fiancés fam Christmas Eve, then drove down to see my fam on Christmas. Came back up to her parents again last night and did some lifting with her and her dad in the basement gym between some holiday food - awesome time.

I hit some arm work, Jessica did some strict log pressing at 100lbs, and her pops pulled a PR triple on the trapbar - depleted glycogen was restored with Turtle pie afterwards

Sounds like a dope way to spend your holiday time!

Also, that’s the only way to truly fill glycogen

The 5x5 on fronts & heavy rows and GHR is where I got stronger, and I had to really dig for the last set of fronts (was seeing stars afterwards).

Really feeling strong on pressing. Fiancés hand is finally letting her get back to some pressing, so it was great having her around for a liftoff - she was strict pressing the axle at 90lbs. Brandon Allen has mentioned he always pauses his first bench rep and does touch n go for the rest, so trying to implement that instead of just randomly pausing some reps out of habit. Great session.

Look at the bench coasting my dude! I do the same thing, pause my first rep and TNG the rest. If I’m feeling particularly good that session I pause my last rep as well.

Good news on the fiancés hand!

This is usually my gameplan as well. Sometimes I will do only the first, sometimes i will do both first and last, sometimes I will do all (usually the one of the first 2). It would be a good idea for me to get consistent with this too.

I think my bench is right around my lifetime best of 336 - I won’t test it this cycle unless I am confident in a PR (340-345). It would be great but it’s not the priority right now.

In fact, I think all of my big 3 numbers are back around what I hit 1.5 years ago - if I peaked now, I could probably total 1,500.
