You just emboldened me. Will likely go to 20,000 for longer now. Good to know 10k is sustainable that long. I suspect much larger doses are fine.
It is amazing all the things Vitamin D plays a role in, I have seen a lot of evidence it effects various pathways effecting muscle growth. And part of this is almost obvious - it has always been implicated in bone growth but there are studies showing it has effects on bone morphogenic proteins, which would have down stream effects on muscle growth right there.
You are not wrong at all. Our skin synthesizes it from sun light. There is some evidence that getting it through the skin could be more efficient, but this would indicate that oral doses are less effective and higher doses may be necessary orally. Potentially.
But while I have seen the general consensus is that it is best to get it from sunlight and not supplements, I recently read a study where the author actually made the case that it is better for us to get Vit D through food and supplements because sunlight can bring skin damage with it for some people. There's always a trade off. Although I've also seen that vitamin d can help fend off skin cancer...the irony.
Not sure a week will do anything at all...it took me a month at 20 000 and maybe even a little after that at 10,000 before I started realizing that I could actually feel high caffeine doses, and I didn't attribute it to the Vitamin D at first. Thought it was strange...
