Controlled Labs Green Might: Prove Your Might

I agree that she's a beast, but you gotta remember that technique and proper training for it goes a long way!
Yeah thats the truth. My years doing crossfit and learning proper oly lifting technique helped alot on that 140. That being said my technique was obviously rusty and if i polished up my technique and get rid of the wasted power in my movements that 140 could turn into alot more real quick. Well it could if my gym had heavier dumbbells lol

Dang hope you didnt tweak it any worse than it was

Nah. But I could tell what was going to happen if I followed through lol. Never tried a Db clean and the last time I did a B.B. clean was around High school football time. Not my cup of tea at all. 140 is damn impressive man congrats!

Thats crazy dude. Your girl is strong af lol that makes me feel like a wimp

She is - she actually may still hold the lightweight women’s world record in the db. The circus Db is all balls and technique to get under a huge weight with only a single hand preventing it from splattering your brains.

For reference, the men’s world record just got broken again a couple weeks back at the Ultimate Strongman show - 330lbs.

Chris you’re a natural! You could be at 180 in no time!

If you guys use a strongman style circus db that’s loadable, please weight it loaded directly before or after the attempt.

This is my gf’s best event. She’s done 130 at ~150lbs true bodyweight and 120x5 weighing 175 at the Arnold Pro.

I more or less suck eggs at it lol

Can we see a video of her ??

Eh it’s not working for me and I don’t have a YouTube, but I will shoot you a link!

Got it, she's pretty and strong, I will follow her also! (but not in a creepy way)

In case you guys were wondering...

Cherry Limeade tastes excellent! Smooth, light cool flavor with no weird aftertastes. The drink requires swirling, but there’s no grit or palpable sediment - this is smooth and enjoyable enough to sip on ice if you wanted.

Yeah i like the cherry limeade

Damn that was impressive. My gym only goes to 120, and I've yet to try that. But now I will.
May have to load up a bb and single arm that biznatch.

I tried it with my bent curl barl but the way it spins in the hand because of the bend in the center really jack's up the grip. It was a definite no go!

I’ve seen people do this on you tube with 135, don’t think I’ve seen heavier though

silentSavage0523 - 200lb Overhead Press ............. Do It !!

Have you seen Eric Bugenhagen’s YouTube channel? I know he definitely has done some big cheat curl clean & presses (with the reverse-grip, one-motioned), like 225+

Posting this just to make everyone jealous

I have trained at 2 different gyms with 200s. They are a pain to move if someone doesn’t put them back, I can tell you that!

Kinda makes me want to find a gym with 200's and see how long it would take me to put it up

You really don’t want to do it with a traditional Db - you want to find a gym with strongman equipment and use a loadable circus db. Definitely not more comfortable, but much safer as the equipment is designed to take the beating of coming down onto a tire or crashpad at least.

Its been 3 days hasnt it? Lol

Yeah it’s about time for the last challenge to get posted!

30-Second Static Dumbbell Hold
-Sitting on a bench and using either arm, take a dumbbell and extend it in front of you using a neutral grip.: You must evenly grip the center of the handle (i.e. not choked up high on it)
-The elbow must remain locked, with your fist and forearm remaining inline with your shoulder.
-Video must be shot from the side in order to see that there is a straight line from your grip to your shoulder and that your arm remains perpendicular to your body. Only a couple degrees of movement is permitted but once your arm diverts from being perpendicular to your body, or your elbow unlocks, the attempt is finished.
-Whoever can successfully and cleanly extend and hold the heaviest dumbbell for 30 seconds, wins.

I'll pick winner Saturday. If rules dont make sense, or need clarification or adjustment, let me know.

Sit down. Pickup a dumbell. Hold it in front of you.

Glad i won the last one bc i suck at stuff like this lol

Also, you are not required to have a seat back on your seat/bench, but I strongly recommend it to help brace your core better and prevent cheating by leaning back.

The way this event is judged in comp, of the wrist dips below 90* to shoulder joint you’re done - IF YOU LEAN BACK TO KEEP ARM UP, I WILL DISQUALIFY YOU.

1 arm, neutral grip in middle of db, seated. Heaviest successful 30 sec hold for guys and gals, respectively, wins!

Man, this one is going to be interesting. Im gonna wait for some entries to see where the bar sits before i enter lol. Id imagine the guys that do a lot of front raises will be primed to win this one.

I tried it today but guys don’t be a me, get someone to tape you. I put the camera in what I thought was a good spot and it of course fell over. It’s ok though I’m sure 20 lbs wouldn’t be even close to whatever the winning weight is, I’ll try it again on arm day friday

Make sure you use your strong arm

I tried it with my smallest db (40lb) just to see what I could do. 13secs.....prolly not even worth video taping

Are we holding the DB at neutral vertically or horizontally in a pronated grip? I'm assuming vertical by the way the post is written, but I just want to make sure before I try it.

I sat on a bench, grabbed 40lb db with grip dead center. Pulled it up so that my arm was at a perfect 90 degree and held it. Back straight, not leaning against anything

Vertically - neutral grip as in the same plane as a swissbar. Horizontally would be a pronated grip.

Gotcha. I just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page.
