Donald Trump running for president

How do you see it as bad for the Democrats? At least publicly they seem to be taking this as a win.

the democrats are very good at 'spin'.

Obamacare is so bad that it was part of the reason trump was elected---BUT after seeing what the republicans were offering many american's[according to polls the majority]preferred Obamacare over the republican plan.

Obamacare is doomed to fail and republicans can blame the democrats...had that horrible republican plan passed the democrats would have ate the republicans for lunch.

Maybe I'm confused by other things you've posted then. Aren't you in favor of the government supporting people getting healthcare?

it is true that I am in favor of a safety net....Obamacare is not the answer, imo.

I truly don't know what the answer is...my hope is that as Obamacare fails the democrats and republicans will work together to find a solution, if both sides have involvement in new legislation MAYBE they could work together to insure success...as long as one side is wanting and working towards the other sides plan failing, it probably will fail.

Very true! Too many egos and ulterior motives on all sides.

There was high drama last week when Rep. Devin Nunes announced at the White House that he had seen evidence that the communications of the Donald Trump campaign people, and perhaps even Trump himself, had been “incidentally collected” by the US government.

If true, this means that someone authorized the monitoring of Trump campaign communications using Section 702 of the FISA Act. Could it have been then-President Obama? We don’t know. Could it have been other political enemies looking for something to harm the Trump campaign or presidency? It is possible.

There is much we do not yet know about what happened and there is probably quite a bit we will never know. But we do know several very important things about the government spying on Americans.

First there is Section 702 itself. The provision was passed in 2008 as part of a package of amendments to the 1978 FISA bill. As with the PATRIOT Act, we were told that we had to give the government more power to spy on us so that it could catch terrorists. We had to give up some of our liberty for promises of more security, we were told. We were also told that the government would only spy on the bad guys, and that if we had nothing to hide we should have nothing to fear.

We found out five years later from Edward Snowden that the US government viewed Section 702 as a green light for the mass surveillance of Americans. Through programs he revealed, like PRISM, the NSA is able to collect and store our Internet search history, the content of our emails, what files we have shared, who we have chatted with electronically, and more.

That’s why people like NSA whistleblower William Binney said that we know the NSA was spying on Trump because it spies on all of us!

Ironically, FISA itself was passed after the Church Committee Hearings revealed the abuses, criminality, and violations of our privacy that the CIA and other intelligence agencies had been committing for years. FISA was supposed to rein in the intelligence community but, as is often the case in Washington, it did the opposite: it ended up giving the government even more power to spy on us.

So President Trump might have been “wiretapped” by Obama, as he claimed, but unfortunately he will not draw the right conclusions from the violation. He will not see runaway spying on Americans as a grotesque attack on American values. That is unfortunate, because this could have provided a great teaching moment for the president. Seeing how all of us are vulnerable to this kind of government abuse, President Trump could have changed his tune on the PATRIOT Act and all government attacks on our privacy. He could have stood up for liberty, which is really what makes America great.

Section 702 of the FISA Act was renewed in 2012, just before we learned from Snowden how it is abused. It is set to expire this December unless Congress extends it again. Knowing what we now know about this anti-American legislation we must work hard to prevent its renewal. They will try to scare us into supporting the provision, but the loss of our liberty is what should scare us the most!

I'll admit it needs some work, but is it really as bad as the "spin" being put on it by Republicans?

IMO, both parties are good at "spin".

Trump is doing a good job of illustrating why government is hard to run like a business. I certainly don't want the government run like Trump's businesses.

Government also does a great job illustrating how government run like big government is a terrible idea. I certainly don't want the government run like big government.

So you think we need to run the government like Trump's businesses?

No way, but thats not to say that his method will be better off or not I cannot say until this all rolls out in the long term. If things get better than so be it that would only be good.

Dump is still BIG government, so to be clear I dont think we need to run the government the way Dump wants to implement his business style into it. I do not support it, its not what I stand for.

Pretty much anything his name is on, LOL. I just don't think he is as good a businessman as many claim.

Do you think he good at anything? Eating alot of food or his elegant expertise in hair spray at least? Anything? lol

I heard just now that Obamacare is in deep trouble in your home state of Tennessee, something about 43, 000 will be without health care due to insurers pulling out?

But is that based on anything other than your opinion of him personally? It's not a test, but I find a lot of people say this, but haven't really looked into it. They simply don't like the man and is a complete prick, but that doesn't automatically mean all of his businesses are failures.

Although I don't like the man, I really think he is not as great at business as he says.

And yes I have read many articles about his history in business. It's filled with bankruptcies and illogical moves. He's very impulsive.

Best business people fail and make stupid decisions....there is nothing wrong with that. The best fail far far more than pure failures.

Steve Jobs failed MANY times, maybe more than Dump...who the hell calls him a failure? ROFL!

Well, if failing is a common occurrence with Trump we're in for a ride :)

So far his success rate as President ain't too great ;)

You find one on Steve Jobs?

Oh geez, I really have to list his failures? He has been screwing up his shyt since the early days of make with exploding pc boards because that stupid bonehead wanted fan-less pc's.

Did he file bankruptcy as many times as Trump? You're the man who brought the strawman to the table.

At the risk of bringing this even farther off topic, but doesn't Trump often use bankruptcy as a tool/strategy? Of course, it's manipulative and probably screws some people over, but the guy seems to be pretty good at making money and "playing the game" at the end of the day, if nothing else.

The thing is that noone really knows.

Bankruptcies can be successes themselves such as when he files for bankruptcy in Atlantic City before shyt his the fan that entire city. It was genius.

Using that as a strategy would be disastrous as a governing strategy IMO.

Well not really, if he declared the US government bankrupt and folded almost the entire blown out of proportion system back to its original intent doing nothing but what the Constitution authorized government to do and be a tiny little thing staying out of our lives that would be incredibly fantastic!

Steve Jobs got fired from the very company he created, thats even worse than a bankruptcy. Surprised he didnt commit suicide.Talk about a real loser, good thing Steve isnt president or this country would burned down by now...ROFL!

Trump never even had a job that wasn't given to him by Daddy.

Fair enough; Trump steaks may not have been a stroke of genius, haha. He does seem to be decent at making money at the end of the day though (he loses a lot, but makes much more).

Its completely illogical to think Dump isnt a good business man. Perfect? No of course not, but thats what makes most of them great. Successful people usually fail far more than unsuccessful people. End of day bank account and equity is louder than words.

I dont believe Misfit, he just doesnt like Dump, which is ok but he is just being silly. Making arguments about his business ethics would be more reasonable.

I wish I had 10% of Dumps work ethic, Id be in a far greater position than I am now.

Daddies give their kids business all the time on this planet, many time they screw it up. This kid I went to school with for example his father owned a Burger King here....then a few years out of high school his daddy croaked, he inheritid the restaurant and it was only a few years till what was once a nice Burger King closed it doors.

Your trying too hard now, just stop! LOL

Nah, I respect Jobs far more than Trump.

I don't even own any Apple stuff.

I love Jobs, I was trying to make a point in a weird way pretending to be in your shoes de-legitimizing a successful person. Steve Jobs is one of my all time favorite people :)

It is untrue. Is his father a zombie or did he not die in 1999? He's had jobs since 1999. He has a job right now... (clue: look at the title of this thread)

I suppose that is true. My point is that his father gave him the start he needed.

It's a lot easier to make money when you inherit a lot to begin with.

All of the ridiculous claims that are made in this thread and you pick on this one? Lmao, ok.

You cant just give anyone millions of dollars and expect them to be successful. He is a self determined, disciplined, focused, smart, and highly motivated individual when it comes to business, popularity and overall success.

By that doesnt mean I like him or that it will translate into political success, but I dont have a choice but to admire some of his qualities.

Right, I've never called out people making stuff up about Obama.
