The Unofficial Ice Cream thread

Just my preference, but if those just have cereal mixed in, I'd rather go with a different mix in unless the base is somehow magical. Cereal as a mix-in (alone) just doesn't excite me.

Usually it comes out soggy and loses its texture and flavor. Some companies have pulled it off well and some its horrible

Salt and straws pots of gold and rainbows the lucky charms replica was good.

I have not had breakfast trash from AH but LLN may be able to comment on that

Based off the pics it looks like small swirls, but we won't know until they release the descriptions

"Eggnog ice cream with snickerdoodle, gingerbread & sugar cookie dough's."

Invalid Link Removed

Not a big eggnog fan in general, but the amount of eggnog was subtle so this was very enjoyable. Think about a cream cheese and vanilla fusion base with a slight aftertaste of eggnog. This was very unique, but was actually very good.

Invalid Link Removed

Snickerdoodle's, ginger bead, and cookie dough thrown together? Yes please. The only downside is I did not get a lot of snickerdoodles. The mix-ins are a bit unbalanced, but all mesh well together. The brown sugar and molasses of the gingerbread, the cinnamon sugar from snickerdoodles, and the density of the cookie dough pair and provide a very chewy experience. The elements of the cookies start to overpower the base, but in the end this pint was loaded and was one that took me by surprise.

PBI tried all the 3 new Cereal B&J Flavors
Fruit Loops - 5/10 .. Not very sweet
Frosted Flakes 7/10 -- Base is step up from vanilla, and has a sugary frosted flakes aftertase
Coco Loco - Base tastes like a frosty, not much for mix-ins

Not surprised

New little G's

The Coconut Caramel may be the darkhorse with the dual swirls

The 6 pack includes marshmallow crispy treat which is meh. I'll probably replace with cowboy cookie which is now a permanent flavor due to sales

Easter Egg Hunt sounds good. Get me some Robin Eggs!

Once you have little G's. You soon realize the swirls are what makes her pints.
The mint and coconut caramel fudge will be the dark horses.
With just an added egg candy, don't expect greatness.

But we will soon find out when the reviews start rolling in! Ill keep an eye out once it goes live for sale.

If reviews are weak ---> Doubling up on Salt & Straw

Grace adds another flavor to the new collection:

Fluffer-Cookie – Peanut butter ice cream with marshmallow swirl and chocolate sandwich cookie pieces

I like the sound of that.

Nice. Sounds like mts pb cnc which is booommmbbb

Grabbed a pint of Tonight Dough (and a sampler pack of Leiney's lol) this afternoon to celebrate my interview today and the fact that it was 75* and might snow Saturday...smh.

B&J was 3.50/pint if you bought 5...so tempted lol, but just grabbed the 1 for a dollar more. Don't have room right now and don't need that binge temptation.

Still love that pint.

The Irish Cream is great, btw. A- from me. The base is like a smooth Baileys that melts in your mouth...

Any fans of halo top ? I havent tried it but looked at the macro's and thinking of picking some up

Love them. The new flavors are amazing. Red velvet and caramel are tops

Only low cal option I prefer is enlightened but they're typically much harder to find. If you do tho, literally every flavor I've tried has been as good as a full cal of the same flavor

We share the same sentiments on the top flavors, Dan :)

Animal Cracker Ice Cream with frosted animal cracker pieces, buttercream frosting and sprinkles

Invalid Link Removed

The real difference was the amount of sweetness it has over the bolder vanilla base offered in vanilla bean. While I personally like this, for some people who do not enjoy sweet ice cream it may turn them away

Invalid Link Removed

The sprinkles are found in copious amounts. Every single spoonful will have at least a half dozen sprinkles. While they do not offer much flavor to the pint besides a crunch, it is a good pair with the animal cracker cookies. Frosted animal crackers are a favorite of mine growing up and they were perfect. Huge in size, crunch in texture, and had that sweet frosting

Looks good!

If you love Frosted Animal Crackers they were on point. Being someone who loves sweet things the base was an improvement on the vanilla bean (Sweeter), so that was right up my alley.

Still some better flavors in this pack which are to come. This was the least favorite , so i cracked this one first.

Anyone ever have this one before?

Invalid Link Removed

Grabbed it this weekend on a whim. No Tonight Dough (lol) and hadn't recalled seeing it before. Never had anything cookie butter before, so didn't know what to expect.

It's actually huge on the mix-ins:

Invalid Link Removed

Not pictured are any of the swirls I worked through. Flavor is like a cinnamon graham cracker (best I can describe). I'm sure some of you (Bob lol) can describe it better or know exactly what the intended flavor is here.

it is supposed to taste like this

but did a piss poor job of doing so because its a vanilla base, and try to replicate the majority of the flavor in a swirl.

Steve's > B&J & TJ's > Sams Choice (of course its a generic brand the quality just is not there, and that vanilla is subpar)
TJ's & B&J were both B grades. Needed better bases and more mix-ins, plus the quality of the mix-ins could of been improved.
Steve's was probably the best I had, but they are very inconsistent with good pints, luckily I got a good one.

So does speculoos do a cookie butter and a peanut butter (or other companies)? I grabbed one a ways back at Kroger I thought said speculoos pb but I'm not sure. It didn't taste too far off from this.

TJ's does the Speculoos spread, and they have their own PB and mixed nut butters in the Store.
Personally i like the TJ Cookie butter the best, compared to the generic brands who try to knock off the speculoos or cookie butter spread. I just think TJ's has a better richness to the nut butter.

If you never had their Pumpkin Cookie Butter. my lord.. Pumpkin Pie in nut butter form, and spot on.

Thanks, Bob!

I had never had Speculoos before and honestly never even saw the name until B&J or in this thread lol.

Never lived anywhere with a TJ. Been on vacation to places with one and they have them an hour from me.

an hour drive is worth the visit. Plenty of other good things there to pickup. Baked goods, seasonings, hot sauces, low cal cheese. If you like ezekiel bread its dirt cheap, same with almond milk

Im gonna be in louisville monday 4/24 if you want anything ;)

You'll have to let me know when it gets closer what your schedule looks like. Maybe I can head up that way for lunch/dinner/ice cream lol. Or you could head about 35 min south and get in a workout at a great gym (for free).

So literally about 5min after posting that I got an email from the customer saying "I see you said Louisville in your meeting invite, we were expecting it in Marion, KY"... so I'm a liar. :(

Little G's Cowboy Cookie:

"Brown butter brown sugar ice cream, oatmeal cookie dough, peanut butter swirl, toasted coconut, and mini chocolate chips"

Invalid Link Removed

Not only is the brown butter true to its name the amount of richness the base offers is incredible. The sugar is such a small part of how bold the true flavor of the base is. It gives it the extra luscious kick to really make this her best base.

Invalid Link Removed

That peanut butter swirl? Loaded. The chocolate chips are consistent from top to bottom just like in Go Bananas. The cookie dough pieces in this pint far surpasses what I experienced in that peanut butter brownie dough as I had chunks thicker then the size of my spoon. Not only do you get tons of cookie dough, lots of chocolate chips, but you get a swirl that resembles half a jar of peanut butter.

Little G's Ice Cream Maple Pecan French Toast
Grade: B
Invalid Link Removed

"Maple Ice Cream with french toast chunks, candied pecans, and cinnamon cream cheese swirl."

Invalid Link Removed

The Maple is very pure and reminds me of the aftertaste of maple syrup. It packs a lot of flavor and leaves a long lingering taste that has you going back for more.

Invalid Link Removed

Much like Sweet Potato Casserole the candied pecans are large, crunchy, and have a sweet cinnamon sugar glaze to them. While they are not overpowering they go hand in hand with the french toast pieces packed in this pint. The pieces are dense, thick, and very moist. They will encompass your entire spoon as you dig further and further into the pint, but the flavoring was very good for how well they held up in ice cream.

Unfortunately this is another pint where I did not get any swirl (Cream Cheese Swirl) Hence the downgrade. Killer base, tons of pecans and french toast pieces but missing a key element.

My all time favorite is 5 or 6 pre-milk soaked double stuff oreos under 7 or 8 scoops of Dreyers cookies n cream in a good sized bowl. So amazing.

Little G's That Peanut Butter Brownie Dough:

"Chocolate and Peanut Butter Ice Cream with brownies and peanut butter cookie dough chunks"

Invalid Link Removed

The Chocolate and Peanut butter base work very well together. As I have stated multiple times off her original line of flavors the chocolate is a bit bland by itself. Combine that with the creamy, semi-salty peanut butter flavor, and it is actually unique.

Invalid Link Removed

Brownies and Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Chunks. The further I dug, the more I started to give up hope. The reason being is because I almost had none of either in my total experience. I was a bit letdown that I really did not get much besides a base of two different flavors and 2 small brownie pieces and 1 PB cookie dough chunk.

New B&J's to drop
So far all the other 4 flavors have had middle of the road/mediocre reviews (urban bourbon, oat of this swirled, Salted Caramel Almond, Truffle Kerfluffle)

Keep Caramel & Cookie On
Caramel Malt Ice Cream with Shortbread Cookies, Fudge Flakes & Caramel Swirls

They put fudge flakes in like everything.... and all of those last 4 flavors.

If the base is decent and there's a reasonable size/amount of cookies this could be really good...

Agreed on the flakes... seems like an odd addition to this one especially.

not high standards, just high HOPES haha... one day, dreams may come true (cinnabuns would be a good example)

Your hoping a mass produced grocery store product will product a top notch base and lots of cookies. You sir do have high hopes.
Lets look back at all their cookie flavors currently...Mint Choc Cookie, Milk & Cookies .. neither are loaded per say..
RIP to Oatmeal Cookie Chunk.. B&J did not want to pay for the cookies so they threw one of the best flavors in the graveyard.

Hope your the lucky one who gets a loaded pint

never said top notch, I said "decent"... I'm not looking for a $15/pint level, but top of THEIR line would be pretty good still. Tonight dough is solid, cinnabuns, theres a few goodies out there.

for 30+ flavors you would think there is more then a "few" that are worth the purchase.
