Do you want to change your guess real quick? We don't want people going back and changing their answers when they see what other people are guessing, but it's only been a minute since you posted and caught it, and no one got it with the first hint. We want someone to get it.

Well I really thought it was theanine but since it's not I'll guess, based solely on your clue here. Some kind of sugar. Glucose I'll go with
 
No one has gotten Ingredient 3 yet, so here's a third hint:

Ingredient 3 is an amino acid that plays a role in the urea cycle in the liver.

Also remember synergy with caffeine, and I think someone can get it soon, then we can go on to Ingredient 4!

I mentioned the half life because Ingredient 5 is believed to have a longer half life than a very closely related ingredient, and is also intended to be easier on the stomach than this same similar ingredient.
 
I really can't win this. Too many logs coming up. But let me tell you that if this Ingres is what I think it is I want to buy this now. My guess that won't count starts with a d.

Similar to caffeine? Or another ingredient?
 
Reason why I ask if it's similar to caffeine is because no xanthines have a half life of 5 hours other than caffeine. I got an idea if it is a xenathine but it wouldn't be beneficial for a nootropic and definitely wouldn't have a half life of 5 hours. So I don't want to say it and waste a guess
