The Unofficial Ice Cream thread

LLN do you know what flavor this is???

"Oscar Night": Cream cheese vanilla ice cream with pieces of red velvet cake from One Girl Cookies. Never been made avail for shipping tho.

Almost got to try it, but someone literally stole the pint that they had set aside for me.

The view delivers.... All i have to say.. Loaded with brownie chunks (Super soft/moist/chewy)
Lots of crack cookies to give it a nice crunch/bite
The base is a mix of a chocolate/marshmallow.. Think about a wendy's frosty in consistency. The Chocolate and Marshmallow are both 50/50 in the pint, so its like a semi-sweet sugary chocolate. For those who like a sweet chocolate this will be a huge HIT. Don't forget nice chunks of ooey gooey butter cake.

Very happy I got in on this 4 pack. Was a huge hit for myself who likes sweet/sugary things and AH's chocolate flavor blows B&J and Little G's base out of the water. Still does not touch the OG Jeni's (the new Jeni's bleh) or Salt & Straw for the best premium base in the game.

For anyone who enjoys a plethora of candy you are in for a true treat. If I were to compare this to AH the Munchies I would give AH the upper hand. Ample Hills has the better base and thicker ice cream. Little G's melts fast and the vanilla base is not a top contender for a premium ice cream base. AH, Graeters, and S&S have much denser/bolder vanilla based flavors IMO.

Grade: B+

YES! This is the one I voted for when they had it. Sounds right up my alley

Definitely sounds better than the other 2

too bad the fudge flakes are a horrible mix-in from B&J. Little shards of chocolate that offer not too much to the ice cream.
Some of the last few flavors the swirls have been very mediocre/subpar.
Hell Sticky Pecan Buns had 0 Cream Cheese Swirl which was a major letdown.
B&J had a pretty weak 2016 for flavor releases.. they better make up some ground for 2017

As long as they don't d/c Tonight Dough, I'm good. The day that happens, cars will be flipped and fires will be started lol

Little G's just released a spinoff of Tonight Dough which you may very well enjoy.

it would have to be REALLLLYYYYY good to pay like 4x the amount for a similar flavor you can get at any store ha

You pay a premium price for a premium product
Another reason why AH, Salt and Straw, Little G's cost a bit more then general pints at grocery stores. Look at these compared to regular brand names available nation wide

Quality of ingredients used to make the base and mix ins are the biggest factor and of course shipping (which is waived on goldbely with the code)

Again something you have to experience and try before reaching a verdict based off cost. I know your never home, so that does not help your situation in trying things either. lets also factor location. If i could pay for S&S local (west coast), AH (up towards NYC), Little G (New England Area) yeah it would be much better then factoring in shipping.

I know growing up I thought breyers was the bees knees or generic stuff in the walmart tubs, then i got into B&J's and thought man this was awesome.. After trying some of the best brands in the US it really opens up your eyes to the difference in taste, but it comes with a cost.

But if you never get to trying them its all personal preference in the end. There always leaves more money for broccoli for you :)

That's not a valid argument tho in this case as you yourself have said time and again that little g's bases have been meh at best for the most part. If that's the case, then it's just really expensive mix ins which is a waste.

I wish you could get down the states and experience some top tier ice cream.
Your ice cream game in canada is piss poor at best.
Then we would have a good time. No fights involved :)

Stopped reading after this. Direct contradiction.

Similar(having a likeness or resemblance) does not = Same (identical to what has just been mentioned)
Little G's is slightly better base wise due to the buttermilk fat content, but her Mix-ins & Swirls destroy B&J by a landslide.

Assuming the outcome on any brand and their flavors without trying them is judging a book by its cover.

Little G's Peanut Butter Brittle & Salted Fudge

The star of the show was the size and flavor of the salted chocolate fudge chunks. Not only are they packed with dense chocolate flavor, the saltiness aftertaste is on point. The chewy chocolate fudge with crunchy peanut brittle was a killer combo. This pint was packed!

Dude you can't just admit when you made a mistake, can you? You said it wasn't better, then said it was. We all know you're no English major. You used "similar" to mean it was basically the same.

And nobody was talking about the mix ins. Clearly they should be better in a premium, handmade pint. That's a given and was not in question.

Also, if nobody should judge without trying themselves, then please explain the point of all your (or anyone's) reviews... should t matter if the person reading didn't try it themselves because obviously they have no right to form an opinion.

Chocolate Potato Chip Cupcake, Cinnatopia, Compartes Chocolate's California Love, Coconut with Petunia's Caramel Bars, Salted Caramel Cupcake hopefully are the leading votes, Also Trail Mix (never had)

Should be killer's if they can revive them. Could be the best month to order based off what wins.

LIttle G's Coffee Toffee Caramel:

Invalid Link Removed

"Coffee Ice Cream with a salted caramel swirl & Chocolate covered toffee pieces".
Coffee base is better then the Vanilla & Chocolate on the Little G Line (I may be partial because I love coffee)

Invalid Link Removed

The toffee pieces have a nice crunch, provide a very nice salty aftertaste and milk chocolate coating. The milk chocolate coating is very rich, and melts in your mouth after biting into them.

The sweetness and saltiness of the mix-ins give it a great one two punch. The swirl was lackluster in amount, I had a few bites of it and that was it, I was really hoping for more.

Invalid Link Removed

It took three simple basic elements in coffee, toffee, and caramel and threw them all together in good fashion. First off this base is good especially if you love cold brew or lighter coffee base.

Many others got a lot more swirl in their pint compared to mine, and much more toffee pieces. When pints are hand packed that can happen. Good Pint, but if it Had more mix-ins/swirl like others did I would of rated it higher. The last few pints I will review were some of my favorites off her OG Line next to Salted Fudge and Peanut Butter Brittle.

Some pints look like this which are loaded with swirl, mine was not

I am a coffee junkie, and the cookies were marvelous. Besides how the ice cream does melt a touch fast for my liking it was phenomenal. Not only is the base a top tier coffee flavor, the amount of mix-ins and the crunch/cream filling they provide are ludicrous. I cannot recommend this one enough if you love coffee and cookies as much as I do.

New thread needed? The Unofficial Ice Cream Flavored Beer Thread???? ;)

Not a liquor fan at all. Didn't enjoy that flavor of B&J and my dislike of bourbon in general (don't really dislike it so much as just not like it) has caused me to pass on all things that flavor.

I love so many other things so much that I wouldn't waste the money or the macros lol. Had a pint of Buckeye for the first time in months this Saturday night, actually.

I dont drink, but still find them enjoyable
Jeni's Rumball was exceptional. Actually probably my favorite booze pint of all time.
It had the OG Dark chocolate in there... Best on the market before the listeria.
Must of what made it so good :)

You ever try their Bourbon Flavor?
Actually pretty good...

Ben & jerry's Salted Caramel Brownie Ale is still awesome. Wish it was not gone.

I thought the graters bourbon was awful. Picked out the chocolate and threw the rest out ha. Just too fake of a flavor.

B&j was booommmbbbb tho. Not much ale flavor if any but an awesome pint nonetheless.

Agreed. This is my least favorite Graeters flavor. And I'm a bourbon drinker - socially drink about 3 nights per week (mainly for work - meeting clients, firm happy hour, etc.) and I usually only drink whiskey/bourbon on the rocks or neat. I just couldn't stomach that flavor. Heard great things about the B&J pint though.
