Douchebags at the gym...

I was gunna vent... got lots of material...prob the same as everyone else's gym douchbags...so I figured I'd take this a different direction.

Who's not a gym douchbag? The guy at the gym who never interrupts your workout. When you see each other the "Sup" nod is exchanged, headphones stay on. Everybody gets on with their ****. Give me a gym full of those people.

I like where you went there. Again...why I own my own "Less Talky,More Lifty" shirt.

First night back at the gym and....

who the heck still has a VHS player?! lol I used to have the trilogy on VHS, but had watched them so much that they eventually fell apart.

You have to know my coworker to understand... lol

Give her a break, her betamax is getting repaired.

Is that before my time? Haha

Here's a question. I get aggravated when people grab weights off the dumbbell rack and proceed to do shoulder shrugs or bicep curls for example, right in front of the rack. As a result I am not able to grab the dumbells I want to use, or I have to wait forever to put my dumbells back on the rack. This is actually a majority of the people at my gym that do this. I grab my sh1t and move out of the way so that the rack is still accessible to everyone else. Does this happen often at your gym as well?

This just happened to me today, only a few minutes ago. I always try to take the dumbbells I'm using and back up a few feet so people can still walk by the rack and grab and put away their dumbbells too. I could see it a little more for heavy DB Shrugs, where you may not always want to walk far with them or have to put them down, but for curls and things, just take a few steps back. I don't like when people do the 1 arm DB rows with their other hand supporting them resting on a DB on the rack either. They're usually blocking a handful of weights, and you don't even want to go near them.

Yep. I always get out of the way unless I'm literally the only person working out.

Dammit! I was doing g a dropset of curls yesterday and I think I was that guy.

So here's my question. For the dropset, if I'm too far I would have to take the weights with me. I'd feel like a bigger douche with a set of 45s, 40s, 35s, 30s and a 45 plate. So I stay near the dumbbell rack and just take what's available as I go. But I think I got it n this guy's way yesterday. It was hard to tell, cuz he was on his phone and not too serious, but I still don't wanna be the douche.

Any suggestions for how I could do dropset in a less douchy way? Oh, and my buddy who's stronger starts right behind me, but on 50s. So double the douche factor. Apologies to the lifting solarverse.

This guy asked to work in with me while I was in the dip machine. He doesn't even bother to remove his plates he added after jumping in. I always strip my weights if I'm working in ...

Just add more weight to it, then say, oh no, by all means go ahead. I'm going to skip a set.

I think this is how the machine is suppose to be....

I get it. People throw up in the gym. It may be because of a new pre, too much water etc etc. I get it. BUT clean it up, don't just **** off! There is anti septic cleaning spray and paper towels in the gym. Bunch of savages

The other day, some douchebag (40-something year old male) left his dead-lifting belt, dip belt (with the chain), and three dumbbells directly underneath the pull-up bar. He walked away and was having a conversation with douchebag #2 for a solid 15 minutes. I was using a machine next to the pull-up bar for a few minutes, and observed a woman standing around waiting to use the pull-up bar (but obviously couldn't because the douchebag's equipment was all over the floor).

After standing around for ten minutes or so, the woman taps me on the shoulder and asks me if I knew who's stuff it was. I told her "Yeah, some a-hole left it on the floor". Immediately, the douchebag comes marching over, aggressively throws his stuff a few feet away, and proceeds to do a 300lb lat pull-down with *the worst* form you can imagine (mind you, the dude is 100lbs soaking wet), then slamming the weight so everybody can see how strong he is. I'm pretty sure the cable snapped from the weight dropping.

**15 minutes later**

I'm sitting on a flat bench (dumbbells in hand) ready to do my set of dumbbell bench press. The douchebag taps me on the shoulder, forcing me to drop the weight to remove my headphones. He asks "Are you using this bench? *HE POINTS TO THE BENCH IM SITTING ON*. It seems like you're following me around today, you're using all the equipment I need."

What. The. ****.

TLDR;
- Douchebag leaves equipment all over the place
- Has 15 minute conversations between sets
- Expects equipment to be ready when he gets back

Fck that dude. He wouldn't have done that shyt at my old gym....lol

I would have been furious by the point he tapped you on the shoulder when you were clearly using the bench; I would have wanted to "tap" him on the forehead and ask "are you using this? Didn't think so."

Are half reppers considered douchebags? Well anyway i've talked about them before. They are still going strong. Shoulder presses from above the head to right above their head .. with "heavy" weight

I would say half-douches. Unless they're bros. Then they are douches.

This guy with his sunglasses in the gym. indoors. At 8pm.

I had a guy like that @ my old gym. Also, the 2 5'8, 5'9 130lbers taking shirtless selfies together. Priceless!

I was the douche yesterday. Finished with the equipment and asked the guy waiting how many plates he wanted me to leave on. One he said and I responded "Serious?" Should not have done that. I apologized for my comment. It came out involuntarily as I thought he was joking. I always strip plates off and re-rack or ask someone if waiting how many they want me to leave on.

Mother ****rrs that spit in the water fountain... Almost killed someone tonight for doing it.

Yes. Also the people that stand there filling up a nalgene bottle with the drinking tap. How much ****ing water do you need where you are crushing one of those in a single gym session. Prepare better and be that person walking around with a gallon milk jug otherwise.

Good you recognized it because that guy was being cool.
