Douchebags at the gym...

Sorry to hear about your loss. It's always hard to deal with the loss of a beloved dog because they are not just pets but part of your family and a best friend that is always there for you no matter what. I had to put one of mine down this year that I had for over 9 years and almost 2 years ago had to put down one that I had for a little over 13 years. Really takes a toll on your emotions. A dog's love for their owner is as close to knowing unconditional love outside of the love that God gives to us which is the reason why dogs are called man's best friend.

That's it exactly. To some they are pets. To me they are family.

He wasn't there today, but I did go in late due to work (new contracts and so on). I was the only one in the gym today, the bench was unracked. ALL the weights were on the ground and on the the bar itself was 3lbs. I don't understand people.

I don't hate my gym. It's just sometimes when I question people's intelligence.

I get what you are saying man. All I'm saying is, It's not rocket science. If everyone else reracks weights and you come into the gym with all the weights racked.. Then logic dictates that you must rerack the weights. Are people just stupid or arrogant?

I would love to own a gym. No arrogance tolerated.

At work tonight and I'm helping a customer out.

Him: Hey do you think I'm cute?
Me: What?
Him: Am I good looking to you?
Me: Uh, sure!
Him: So you think I'm cute, 'cuz I think you're a cutie. *gives me the freakin' death stare*
Me: Ahhh... yea, sure. You're cute.
Him: If you think I'm cute, come give me a kiss.
Me: The fu*k?!? I have a boyfriend!!!

Him: Oh, I'm so sorry! *walks away*

People are so freaking weird!!!!

OK, maybe you fellas can help me identify who the douchebag is in this(this one is a mild case either way I think).

But my buddy called me on a day off and asked if I wanted to lift. I didn't have time to go home so I showed up in jeans, boots and a t-shirt. No legs yesterday, so I didn't care about the jeans.

I'm always respectful and clean my equipment, fully rack all weights etc. A trainer approaches me and asks me if I have shorts or athletic pants. I told him no and apologized explaining I popped in impromptu and would usually wear gym attire. As he walked out I noticed several weights people failed to rack, etc. I don't mind people who are type a and follow rules, but be consistent. Don't approach me, but say nothing to the person who left weights on 4 stations. Anyhow, he hurt my feewings. It's a pretty petty matter, so I'm just not gunna show up in jeans and boots, but why can't people wear jeans and boots to the gym?

I personally won't do it. It not comfortable for me. But as long as they are not muddy or anything like that who cares. Same for boots as long as you are not dragging mud around lift in what you want.

Unless there is some rule written he had no right to speak to you on the topic.

Further. He is the dbag for ignoring an obvious infraction making it look as if you were singled out.

No mud, but apparently there is a rule posted that I never bothered to look at. The selective enforcement is what irked me. Oh well, I'll make sure my panties are unbunched before I put on the appropriate athletic attire next time?

Also. I think timing is important as well. It's when and how to speak to a member regarding the rules.

Of course the appearance of not enforcing re racking plates should also had been addressed.

He was remiss in his duties as an employee. One whom your dues pay for his efforts.

I would have a chat next time about it. Let him know how he affected you in that interaction and his miss.

His job is not to ruin your experience rather enrich everyone's.

Just where athletic pants and your boots next time. Tell him you dropped a weight on your foot once and don't want to injure your foot again .

I don't think anyone was a dbag in the situation. Our gym prefers people not arrive in jeans because benches have actually been torn or had holes in them from the jean rivets and wallet chains (:)). Unless it is an enforced rule where you can't wear anything by athletic wear (subjective), then no need for a sign. Regarding racking weights, I don't see how it applies here. Who knows if multiple people are working in, who actually left the weights, etc..Yeah, it's bad form but not one that any gym employee is going to go investigate.

That's not weird, that's harassment.

I think the dude is an idiot and weird. But she told him he was cute(although obviously to placate him) and he said sorry and left when she said she was spoken for, so I will say not quite harassment. But douchebag material for the "kiss me then" comment for sure. How does one say something like that, I'll never know.

I felt like a bum this morning. I ran late for the gym but was still too early for work, so I decided to still stop by and got 20 mins in. I was able to hit some back and legs but blah, what was the point?

Gym rules are gym rules and approaching you wearing jeans is much easier than finding out who left weights down.

Jeans destroy equipment, and put all kinds of stress (and demin leak) on to their upholstery which is expensive to replace.

Leaving weights out is discourteous, but wearing inappropriate clothing can be costly.

It was the opposite today. I had too much time and didn't know what to do. :/ I just wanted to get out of there.

That's funny because I only had like 20 or 25 minutes this morning. Something was better than nothing! LOL

fuc k high school kids...absolutely f.uck them.

This freakin' guy...

The sign clearly states: DO NOT LAY BAR ACROSS THE BENCH.

The bar rolled off and almost took his right foot.

This is why we can't have nice things...

This couple at the gym rack up the bar for squats always 2 plates and a 25 when they feel froggy.. and I have yet to see them do a full rep...

My gym just sent me a letter about their annual $50 maintenance fee. Blah, blah, blah, they need to maintain the equipments and be able to pay their employees. Also, "every" gym is doing it.

Well damn, where's my $30 a month going?

That's B S! What is the point of membership fees then? I'd rather my gym just charge me an extra $5 per month.

There is a dude like that at my gym. Same weight and everything....haha

You just need to bust their balls if you don't see anything new. Our gym has it, and usually replaces a few pieces every year.

Ahhhh... it's a crappy gym with old machines and plates. I only joined for the convenience. They have 3 gyms all together, and one of them has a 'powerlifting' room which consists of a barbell in a room that's as big as my closet.

Lol powerlifting. My gym just called me Friday to tell me my credit card was expired (its not) and I owe another month (its well past the 1st....).

I absolutely hate going to my university gym. Actually, hate isn't a strong enough word. Perhaps despise would work better? Loathe? Abhor? It's very nice, with a ton of weights and equipment, it it's always so busy, and people some people are just the worst kind of asshats. There's 3 squat racks in a row, all being used, so I decide to warm up with a few sets of leg Press. Then a rack opens up, but some guy beat me to it by a few seconds, so it's his. He asks if I was going to do squats, and I said yeah, and he said that he's not, so I'll just have to wait "that's just how it is." Ok, I can live with that. So the guy next to him is doing ~65lb Shoulder presses for the bette part of 20+ minutes. I can also live with that. So I wait for a rack, since it's a the only place to do both squats and deadlifts, which I planned on doing. What really pissed me off is the douche, the guy who took the rack earlier, walks up to me after about 10 minutes and tells me "that's bad gym etiquette." I ask him what he means, and he says that I'm being rude by waiting several feel back from the racks." I politely, which took considerable restraint, that if I didn't wait, I'd lose the rack when it opens up, and that I don't expect the other person to hold the rack for me when he's done if I up and disappear. What I really wanted to tell him is that it's "bad gym etiquette" to hog a squat rack, when there are several people waiting, to do upright Rows with ~100lbs, which is what he did several sets of.

That made me angry just reading that. I am sure I would not have held back until he either wanted to punch me or was ready to cry. I don't care either way. F uck him.

Back before all this PC crap, the proper response would have been, "Well where do you want me to go wait, Nancy, with your boyfriend??"

The proper response that I wanted to give, if I wasn't at my University gym, would have been to rip his tongue out of his mouth and shove it up his a** so that it'd stop the constant flow of sh*t he's spouting, since I'm not sure if he's talking out of his a** or sh*tting out of his mouth.

He probably outweighed me by 30lbs or so (I'm 5'10" ~160, and look fairly unimposing in the regular T-Shirt I wore to the gym between classes), but I'm confident I could've held my own, being a black belt and a decent wrestler in school. I also had the considerable advantage of not having my head up my a**.

I keep calling out the same guy for not reracking his weights and the gym won't enforce it that I now yell across the whole gym... "Man I wish people would put their weights back when they were done". Almost tempted to accidentally drop a plate on his foot.

Just take the weights he leaves laying around and drop them on his lap at the next machine/bench he goes to. If he asks what you're doing, tell him that you figured he was still using the weights, since he didn't put them away.

I got angry just reading that crap too! Man, I think that's the douchiest one I've read yet. Good restraint muscleupchrone!

Just to prepare everyone.
