You know, talking about this stuff settles it. I'm going to the pistol range Christmas day. Anybody else wanna go? Shoot the same caliber I do and ammo's on me. Then we'll come back and start reloading.

I'm thinking my EDC will be a S&W 500. Gotta protect my rice as I drag it through the streets you know?
Honestly tho I've heard that's the worst gun ever made in terms of being fun to shoot n stuff
You every watch demolition ranch on YouTube. He says it's his least favorite gun ever. I've shot one. Once. Never again.
Did you know they make a 357 magnum 1911. That's a real gun
****ing LOVE Matt holy ****... he got me in to shooting actually... plan on buying his AR 30 A1 by armalite. Looks like a **** ton of fun to shoot
I have some friends in high places in Texas so I might be able to see him one day haha who knowsYou just know him from YouTube right? Cause if you "know" him you have to introduce me. I love his videos. I wish I could get paid to shoot guns. Lol.

I'm down! We'll be going anyways. I picked out a nice kimber for my mother in law to give to my father in law for Christmas. We'll be shooting lots of 45 that day.
.357 mag or .357 sig??
I'm gonna guess that ones a utility and the other is self defense?Knives. I love knives. Almost always have 2 on me. Spydercos my favorite. Fox karambit is nice.
The issue about knives is psychologically you have to have the mindset to get in close and use it in an emergency situation. No cover, no concealment, no brandishing. Has to be done very quickly at the onset of a threat scenario or the fellow with a firearm has dominance.
Kinda. One.small and very not scary. One bigger. Both great for utility. But obviously I'd use the larger in a defense situation. If I was carrying FOR self defense I'd use a blade that "waves" open when I remove it from my pocket.I'm gonna guess that ones a utility and the other is self defense?

Ruger LCP 380....small little guy, not much power but it's so small and comfortable to wear, I can take it anywhere
Don't own any karambits, but the fox one is definitely my favorite cuz it waves. You're making me really consider one. I could use a karambit in my collection anyways. All about the wave featureI love my fox knifes. I have a dart knife I carry for utility only and a karambit I carry only for self defense. Honestly the best knives I've had my hands on, ever.

I'd like to get a Kimber Crimson Cary .45ACP, if I were to be the type to carry a gun everywhere.
Certain hollow points (depending on the caliber and/or brand) don't penetrate through heavy clothing and/or layers very well, but others don't really expand reliably, and some guns fire certain brands better than others. So I took an hour and a half to fix my knife, it was kinda dull. Took an 800 to it for a bit, then switched over to an Arkansas translucent stone (takes forever if you don't have grits between 1000-4000). I got the thing sharp as hell. Doesn't look sharp or feel sharp but the weight of the knife breaks through skin with only the slightest drag.
Got me curious, how hard is it to cut through clothing? Obviously you gun owners don't need to worry about this haha
This is something I didn't know, my dad doesn't like guns so the only time I shoot is with friends so I don't know too too much honestly.Certain hollow points (depending on the caliber and/or brand) don't penetrate through heavy clothing and/or layers very well, but others don't really expand reliably, and some guns fire certain brands better than others.
I did a lot of reading on it. Some people did some interesting tests, shooting various brands of hollow points through layers of clothing, into gel, etc, to test penetration, expansion, etc. Certain guns can be "picky" with hollow points, so it's always a good idea to test a decent amount of the type you decide on before actually buying a ton and carrying with it. There's also interesting police data on the outcomes of shootings with various calibers, and it seemed pretty clear that caliber wasn't the be-all end-all, and shot placement mattered a lot. Much weaker caliber rounds did perform similarly to higher caliber rounds most of the time, but their downfall was a higher percent of encounters where no number of shots incapacitated the target; higher calibers tended to perform better in that regard. I don't remember the links to them, but it was very interesting, and far from the "45 or bust" mentality a lot of people have. In fact, with quality hollow points, many experts are opting for 9 over 45 now (larger capacity, less recoil, cheaper, etc). This is something I didn't know, my dad doesn't like guns so the only time I shoot is with friends so I don't know too too much honestly.

Yeah, the "one shot" fallacy is just one that, as is the "shoot the gun out of their hand" nonsense. It's amazing what you can learn with some ballistic gel and old jeans. And once you realize that, and what the human body is truly capable of, you can understand why cops shoot so many times.

Case in point, my dad shot a man while on duty, literally right in front of the white house. 2 rounds, center mass. 1 came out the inside of the guys thigh, the other came out his neck. 3 days in the hospital before he died. Who
Would think that?
SO After some reading last night I learned that I got 3 days of in school suspension back in Highschool for something that was totally legal. I had brought a pocket knife clipped on to my work pants and didn't realize it, someone saw it and ratted me out.
The law specifically states that if you knowingly carry a knife, except pocket knives with a folding blade under 3 inches, you can be convicted of a class 1 misdemeanor. So I got in school suspension for something totally legal..... -.- now I'm pissed off
I checked the laws, no weapons allowed on school property except knives with a folding blade of less than 3inchesLegal to carry on the street doesn't equal legal to carry in school.
Reviving this thread for a quick min.
Im looking for a good edc heres the catch, never shot before.
My dads a huge gun control freak, idk why honestly he grew up in the middle of bumb**** nowhere on a farm and shot **** all the time but I digress.
He's never taken me shooting I'm looking to change that, and soon. There's a few awesome ranges around here, a pretty kick ass indoor range as well so I'm looking to pop my cherry here over the summer. Plan on getting a license to cc here shortly so I'm just trying to figure out what's the "top 5" edc guns. Obviously since it'll be my first I'm not planning on spending a lot on it, but I don't want some cheap pos either.
Lol did your rice get robbed again when you where walking through the hood?
Look at the Kimber 1911 compact carries... they are nice. H&K makes some purty pieces also
Lol nah I'm just tired of only having a knife but I don't know what would be the "best" kind of gun to carry, I was thinking a S&W 500 Mag. Or a Desert Eagle.... maybe edc an AR15... think the cops would like that.
