Douchebags at the gym...

Damn bro. I'm guessing this has happened a bunch of times.

There was a time when I was considered a violent sumb1tch. To quote my father in law, I would fight at the drop of a hat, and knock tour hat off just to prove it. The last real "scuffle" I was in I could hear my girlfriend screaming at me to stop. Afterwards she told me to she couldnt do it anymore, and I had to chose her or the fighting. Weve now been married for 17 years.

That's awesome bro. I used to be that way also, but I'm too lazy for it now (lol). I still have no problem if someone is trying to start one, but I don't look for it.

As stated before, The gym I workout at the most is on a college campus where Im a firefighter. This college kid, who apparently has exams EVERY leg day, is listening to his music on his earbuds, but likes to walk around the gym, singing whatever bullshyt he's listening to as loud as he can, and sing is loosely being used, bouncing around waving his hands like hes filming the video for said bullshyt song, and then ties up 2 different stations. Today was a bench and the cables, taking his sweet fother muckin time between sets. Not supposed to cause controversy since Im a "public Official " but Ive had my fill. Hed push his weight(225 for like 4) then sit up, sing loud as h3ll looking at his phone, then walk over to the cables. I had a goal today and he was tying up my bench as the other ones were legitimately being used. My Captain knew I was getting hot, so he went and asked the guy if he was done and could he go ahead and use the bench. The arrogant @ss looked at him and said, " for what? Cant younsee Im busy on it?". That was it, I walked over and told him "because I want to use the damn thing for something other than an effing nightclub and Im going to move SOMETHING, regardless. I also gave him my "I will dislocate your life" look, and abruptly moved his shyt! Good times

You brute! lol.

Side note. Somewhat related.

I was at the dentist with my wife and sat in on her cleaning... 5 minutes in I get up to walk out.

Dentist calls me a coward.
Me: lol. I call him a bully. :D

Bout 18 months ago I had a wisdom tooth pulled using just local anethstetic. My wife sat through the whole thing. Just saying ;)

I have a phobia apparently. When I was younger had a dental assistant put an instrument through my lower lip.

:)

Mostly German. Lol. She's probably the most loyal person I've ever met and won't take crap from anyone. Love her to death

My gym owner is a douchebag, the rubber floors are peeling up, and I'm waiting for someone to break their neck(various people complain) and there is **** wiped on the walls in the bathrooms. I've complained about it to him multiple times but months later STILL POOP COVERED WALLS. I'm at the point I may call the health department. I'd join another gym but no where decent is close to home -___-

Well quit wiping your poop on the walls then! Hahaha!
That's seriously nasty though. Who in their right mind thinks, "Hey, I'm gonna pick up this turd I just pooped out of the toilet and paint the walls with it. This place could sure use the color!"???

It only happened once! When I ran out of toilet paper and socks! It's absolutely disgusting and the fact it's been caked on for an extended period of time is even worse

My friend went to a chiropractor who conned her into getting some $220, 21 day shakes and vitamins. She said that my friend "needed" it in order to get rid of the toxins in her body. Conveniently, the chiro was a sales rep for this product.

I read the back of the protein powder and was like... . It only had 10g of protein per scoop.

Me: Well, let me know how it works!

All I can say is wow. Not surprised though.

This has probably been covered at length previously. But what is the consensus on deadlifting in a power rack when there is ample room behind the rack to perform the lift?

There are 2 towers at my gym (yet there at 4 smith machines...) so there is usually a backlog of people waiting for the racks. Deadlifting in the rack is not as obnoxious as curling in it, but tying up a rack for something you can do outside of it drives me nuts. Is there any benefit to deadlifting in a powerrack? Am I missing something?

Do it on the floor.

I don't recall ever deadlifting in a rack before. I usually just find a spot where the floor isn't fcked up so the bar doesn't keep rolling. I hate that

It is one step away from curling in the rack IMO. I figured there must be some reason because it happens frequently at my gym.

I also battle the uneven floor on the setup. What I find more annoying is the hex plates. Trying to line bar up close to my shins is frustrating. That and the no dropping the weights rule due to the fact that they set up the free weight area directly above the pool. Apparently at times the plaster breaks and it snows below in the swimming lanes.

HAHAHA wait is that not funny? I don't even do deads at my gym because its so damn crowded and no pad.

The padded area is so uneven that it is impossible to to them there. I was even told to not drop the weight in that area because it would damage the pads.

To be fair the snow globe pool incident happened during a power clean set where I literally let the bar fall at full speed from shoulder height.

My trainer who went over the form with me told me it was fine, so I just did it. I had a member snitch on me and the manager came and told me to cool it just as the guy next to me was deadlifting 6 plates and letting them slam from hip height. As soon as he went back downstairs I hit my last three reps and dropped the bar on the last rep and stared down the guy who snitched on me. He said what? So I said what? It went back and forth like that a few times before I turned my back on him and reracked and left.

Well I'm getting my post count up, so I'll share the gym douchebag type that irks me the most:

Weak noobs lifting as much weight as possible with terrible form and THEN slamming the weights cuz they can't control them. I'm sure someone else said this in the previous 14k posts, but I can't stand that mess!

Being inside the rack gives me anxiety. I squat outside.

You guys do realize "squat" racks were created to be squatted inside of where the horizontal safety pins are set to your height to protect you in the event that you fail to press up the last rep.

Squatting anywhere outside the rack voids all the intended squat rack safety benefits.

I squat inside the squat rack. I don't really like squatting out of it. Feels weird

There is a dude that walks around with a severe limp squatting not using the safety rails. Was trying to squat 315, got stapled by it, couldn't get out from under it. Dumped his entire body forward kinda like a suitcase because the weight was across his shoulders still

Super duper true. But I will sometimes squat outside the rack when I'm doing lighter weight. I can break parallel in the rack but I can't go ATG. So I go outside the rack for those sets. I will also deadlift in the power rack. Because that's how I do my rack pulls. But I don't do standard deadlifts in the power rack.

ouch

My old gym had the open rack. Where the safety rail and front of the rack is open. I don't think the rail's height is adjustable on it though.

Ok. Outside the rack squatters.... Say you were squatting outside the rack, or just for the sake of this example deadlifting (Brandinoooo I know you dont deadlift) ... You are outside the cage, the inside of the cage is open. Would you let someone work inside the cage in between your sets that you are doing outside the cage? Or would you say no I am using the rack?

Between sets I'm all good with it. As long as it doesn't get in the way of me getting to my next set I wouldn't care. During sets I'd be distracted and find it annoying.

Agreed. I encounter people deadlifting together same weight both in back of the squat racks two separate bars one for each and after politely asking if I can use the cage during their 5-10 minute rest period am told no .

If you are using the outside of it to squat that is using the cage no beef there. Is my gym the only one that this happens at? Just curious ?

Quick update on the dude I posted about, you know, the guy that wanted to sit on the bench and look at his phone and then walk around singing and half dancing to whatever crap he was listening to. Went to the gym yesyerday, guess who was on the bench. Yep. That guy. I walked in, gave him a bit of that go f*** yourself look Im well known for, and he literally got up, packed his gym bag and left. Best part is, I was going to the squat rack, didnt even want the bench.

Our gym has a dead platform behind a power rack, so I have let someone squat while I'm deadlifting.

Yeah I don't do deads. But if I was using the outside of the rack, I would let someone use the inside if it didn't mess with my sets.

Was doing lat pulldowns today and ran out of water. I slid my huge gym bag in front of the machine, grabed a sip of water, and came right back. Dude moved my bag, and was going to town.

The Dbag fource was very powerful with that young padawan!

Wow I'd be pissed if someone moved my bag like that.

I would have had some negatives to discuss with that guy. But you Sir get bonus points for the Star Wars reference!!
