Douchebags at the gym...

My school just revised the clothing policy. Underwear must be worn at all times in the locker rooms unless you are in a shower stall, and women must cover their mid sections up with clothing. No more sports bras only. :'(

Is it a college/university? If so, that means some girls will have to put on more clothing when they go from class to the gym. What's inappropriate about midsections? Someone who was jealous of girls in good shape probably complained.

College and idk but I'm missing the sports bras, feel like my test levels have dropped already and it's only been 1 day.

I'm willing to bet it was either a jealous girl who complained, or a guy who was upset that it isn't socially acceptable for him to lift with a bare midsection, so no one should.

There's definitely some eye candy at my university gym, and you can tell that some guys there aren't really there to lift seriously, haha. It actually gets annoying when a bench and/or dumbbells are taken by someone who thinks that their sets of 10 with 135 on the bench is the perfect tool to pick up girls. I really only workout there during the day (not evening) unless I'm working out with someone who can only go at that time.

A little man with a manbun thinks he's a beast. The little fella puffs his chest out, screams, claps, and walks back and forth before every set. On the last few reps he screams so damn loud that the entire gym has to look at him.
I want to ask him "do you even lift bro?"

Should just look around when he yells and just ask "dafuq are you doing now?! Calm yo tits Rambo". He won't do it again.

Haha, maybe he knows ponytail guy I saw at the gym the other day. Is he even using decent weight? Just ask to work in with him and effortlessly do twice as many reps as him without making noise and walk away, maybe put your finger over your lips to tell him to be quiet as you walk away, haha.

He was screaming/yelling with 185lb on flat barbell bench. Once he finished I made sure he saw that I warmed up with 225 and could do it without making a scene.

I found out he's the instructor for the "crossfit" class at my gym. That explains everything.

Lmao.

Apparently my favorite gym shirt, one that I took the sleeves off and ripped 3/4 of the way down the sides, doesn't meet dress code either anymore. Guess I have to go buy proper gym clothes now,

When I went to Boise state university for a semester they made me change for wearing a cutoff. Sleeves are required for guys but apparently girls could wear tank tops.

With all the PC nonsense going on at universities today, just say you identify as a girl and you can wear your tank top. Problem solved.

I fck yes go broncos but it does suck that they made were sleeves. They must have recently gotten rid of it as me and me brother never were sleeves

I forgot about this glorious thread. My new, at least in the mornings, only has 1 douche. He wears those fcking toe shoes and is constantly stopping to check himself out. The catch? He looks like he is in his 40s and doesn't look muscular at all

I was going over to do dips (I was set to do slow, light chest dips), but two girls were on one one the dip/pull-up/ab thing, and two college-age guys were on the other one doing weighted dips with a 70lb dumbbell (they were making a good bit of noise, but not being really obnoxious), so I decided to work in with them, and I suppose I let my ego get the better of me, so I decided to do some heavier weighted dips with them instead of lighter chest dips. I let them use my belt for the weight (they were holding the dumbbell with their feet before I got there), so we all got along well, so it was fine; I did a quick set of several reps with 90lbs to warm up a little, then one of them tried it and got 1-2 reps, then I did some sets of a few reps with 135lbs. In retrospect, maybe I seemed like a gym douche to them; they were doing weighted dips with a decent weight next to two girls, making some noise, then I come in and warm up with their max, but it was all good, because they said they were going to buy one of the belts, but they were going to buy it at a local supplement shop for $60, and I told them they can get it either online or at the local Dicks for half that price, so they were pretty grateful that I saved them $30.

Also, it wasn't douchey, but some guy was deadlifting 405 with the a VERY rounded back for one painfully slow rep (of course it was to impress the girls he was with). I'm pretty sure I instinctively winced and shook my head a bit when I saw it, but I don't think anyone noticed.

There is a guy that consantly half reps everything he does with entirely too much weight. Which is why he half reps everything. Haha he seems nice enough, but he also looks like he might be the guy IGing afterward about his gym exploits. LOL

Haha, I'm sure there are plenty of people who do half reps (at best) with way too much weight, but have someone take a pic of them during the lift, so they can "show/prove" to everyone on social media that they lifted X weight on Y lift; it reminds me a little of a comedy skit Daniel Tosh did where he said "I can bench press around 450lbs... one-half time. The first half, on the way down." But if you take a picture of it and put it on social media, you benched 450.

Right? Sums up probably 3/4 of the lifting population

I think I was the d-bag today. The gym was packed, and I held up a flat bench and an incline bench and began doing super sets between chest/tris.

Dude came over to talk, I told him he could work in, but he wanted my bar :/ guess we are all guilty from time to time lol

Savage. I was an ass today doing practically the same thing, held the incline and decline press machines up today for a bit.

Honestly thought of moving gyms after last time. Dam idiots. I don't get how one night I love all the people there and the other night they're all idiots. (Different people though).

There's a guy at my gym that does the same sht. We call him the "half-pump chump".

This room is what's wrong with the fitness world. Who cares if a guy does half reps all the time. He's doing more than the guy sitting on the couch not bettering himself. Everyone needs to spend less time judging everyone and be focused on themselves. Your there to better yourself not drag someone else down. People being judgemental like this is why people who aren't in shape don't want to step foot in the gym.

I know 100% that you cannot tell me that you don't judge people. We're human, we always judge people based off what they say and their actions. We have every right to look at someone and shake our heads when they do a half squat or half a bench press rep.

There IS a Difference between juding someone in your head and talking bad about the person out loud. I highly doubt any of us on this forum go up to people who do these half reps and tell them how bad they are at lifting. I also doubt that the majority of us talk **** about others in person.

I sure as hell know I'm a keyboard warrior, I'll tell AM **** that I never say in person.

It is how these people carry themselves that make them a douche. You may step down from your soap box now

This. Its not necessarily about how the person is working out, so much as how they behave while doing so. Its just, a lot of people that behave this way, have horrible routines that we notice because of the attitude/tendencies.

Exactly. I love seeing bigger people in the gym trying to better their lives. I don't care what they do or how the do it. It's the IGing group that's flexing and proclaiming their 315lb bench that went MAYBE a 1/4 of the way down. Those are the assbags this thread is for

Honestly when I go to the gym I don't make conversation and I'm not looking at other people 99% of the time. If someone is doing something so rediclous its probably because they don't know any better and I'd offer help in a non aggressive way. Everyone needs to focus more and themselves and less on others. Maybe then youd see better results. Brandinooooo why not help these people with horrible routines?
I'm really not an "everyone gets a ribbon" kind of guy I just feel like people have the wrong attitude about lifting and we should bring one another up instead of being stereotypical meat heads and push everyone else down.

The people we are talking about don't want help. That is another part of the problem. Plus, just going up to someone to tell them their form is shtty is ruder than keeping it to myself. I think the people we are talking about know deep down they are doing it wrong but are so egotistical they won't drop the weight and do it right

This. I don't really even think twice about the random guy who does half reps with a decent weight and doesn't bother anyone (there are lots of these people, and some of them are pretty big), it's usually the person making a spectacle of their lift that clearly wants attention that we talk about here. I'll often notice their antics before I notice their bad form.

I've tried. Most if not all don't want help. I do help the ones that I can. I enjoy seeing people that are new to working out like ryane87 said.

A lot of young guys my age "ego lift." They know proper form, I've seen some of them do it for warm up sets, or for a sports team, or lifting class, etc, but when they step into the gym and want to impress their bros and the gym chicks, they often throw around way too much weight. I've learned that there are some times that it is good to help people with their form, but you're asking for trouble IMO when you try to tell the college kid squatting 225-315 for 1/4 reps in front of some girl he clearly likes that his form is terrible. Same with the guy who looks like he's dancing and doing whole body hammer curls with 70s.

So you wouldn't be annoyed by the 150lbs prick, not dropping, but physically SLAMMING his 20lb barbell down after EVERY set, constantly flexing in the mirror, making that subaru PSSHH with every rep as loud as possible etc, because that, I feel, I'm entitled to be annoyed by. I have my earphones on full and I can still hear him. "Judging" more like being annoyed by a little highschool prick. He is not the only one btw.

There's a time and a place for psyching yourself up for a lift/and or making a little noise IMO. It's all relative to your strength of course, but I feel if you're going to make noise to try to get a little extra on your lift, you should have at least moderately decent form (i.e. no screaming to do 1/4 of a rep with 225 on bench). For example, I'm a pretty light guy (5'11" ~160), and I make some noise to get the first rep of 110lb dumbbells off my chest on the incline bench, but that's very different then sounding like Bruce Lee while doing hammer curls with 30s, haha.
