I usually stick to the Raws personally. SNS agmatine, betaine and such. Find it works better for me in the long run.
I don't know what gym you go to, but mine has girls, and they wear these things called yoga pants...
Anyone else just eating Beets? (Or buying Beet Root Juice or Powder). I don't do it for the "pump" but it's a by-product of the performance.
I thought about it but not sure it will do much
Check ErgoLog, something like "200g of Beets Improves 5K Times".
I hate hate hate beets but are the benefits that noticeable??
You're not really going to get an ergogenic dose of nitrates from the amount of beetroot used in most products; most extracts don't even list the nitrate content, and ones that do are standardized for relatively low nitrate (ex: RedNite is 1.5% nitrates). Studies showing benefits of beets for performance tend to use 400mg+ nitrates, meaning you'd need more than 25g of the beetroot extract. In theory, beets are definitely ergogenic. The dye is used for supplements as are the nitrates.. crazy.
Yeah, there's definitely nothing wrong with eating/drinking beets for nitrates. Beets and lecithin granules before hitting the gym, haha. One can of Freshlike Sliced Small Beets (The Lowest Cal/Carb ones) is about 400g total. Don't know if that includes the juice/water it's packed in - probably not. It's 88 kcals/Can. The Ergo-Log article used 200g of baked beats (no liquid). So I think 1 Can is definitely good to go - they're about $0.89 a can where I am. I use 3 a week - but it's also actual food, fills you up, micro-nutrients etc... even if they are more expensive than a bottle of KNO2. JMO
