Hell no 33 is not old, I'm turning 30 in a few months and I feel better now than I ever have.

I hear you though on teenage kids, I used to try and help but at that age they know it all. Unless someone is going to really hurt themselves I tend to just keep to myself now.
 
There's this curly headed **** at my gym whose in his early 20s and he always has these high school kids in tow doing the dumbest ****. Like he'll have them sit on a preacher bench and try to hold a curl bar up while he tries to pull it down. Like not resistance like, they'll curl it up and he'll ream it back down to starting position. I'm waiting for their bicep tendons to snap.

Or he'll have them try to seated tricep press 80# dumbbells by bouncing it off the base of their necks. I have no clue why my gym hasn't kicked him out yet.
 
How much of a douche bag would I be if I did squats in my air cast? Lol

Puccah I tagged you in a my PCT log, there's a picture of it there but basically it's a plastic adjustable cast for the stress fracture in my foot.

Saw it! :) It's not doucheeeeee to squat in it. I've squatted in crocs, socks, and bare feet.
 
I like barefoot (just socks) squats as well. This injury isn't even lifting related it's from soccer but the doc says I need to try everything I can not to injure it further in the gym.

I attempted to squat the other day but haven't deadlift in over a month. I can't lock out or fully straighten my left leg. It effn sucks! I feel weak as fcuk.

Not yet, I'm waiting for my new insurance to kick in. It covers everrrrrrything 100%.

I can tell you that it is more than possible. That would be a life changing event for someone that age, if they want to continue being athletic. Coming back from a bicep tear, or worse detachment, is not fun.

Haven't been in a commercial gym since my surgery 2.5 years ago. I get along OK in my home gym, and do not miss waiting for equipment, but I do see the allure of being in company sometimes, when working out.

Yeah my chiropractor goes pretty hard on my shoulder to free up the impingement. Feels great afterward!

I have a douchebag story from just yesterday. I sadly belong to planet fitness (I know I belong because it's all I see written everywhere in the place) but planet fitness has created a whole new category of gymdouche given their very relaxed "hey you don't need to work out if you don't want to" attitude. Back on topic. My home planet does not really follow the dress code policy so we can wear pretty much anything we like (with in reason) and obviously some things that are worn do have a tendency to draw welcomed and unwelcome attention. My view is if you feel that you are getting unwelcome attention don't wear it again! Okay...back to the douche.

I was doing what I consider deadlifts (I'm sure I am doing them wrong) when I see this guy in jeans and polo shirt move over and sit on an incline bench that was directly behind me. He acts like he is doing some type of lifting to justify his time at the gym, and for that I give him credit. After one set he stands up and starts playing with his phone. At this point he is obviously just lurking around so I turn off my iTunes so I can just be aware of what this guy is up to. I go back in for another set of my own while I keep an eye on him in the mirror. As I move to rest the bar on the floor I hear the sound of a camera go off. I turned around and asked him if he just took a picture of me and he starts to give me some excuse that he just took a screen shot. I walked over to him and asked him to see... He ran off right out of the building.

And that is my douche bag story of the week even though the week isn't over yet. I know this may not be in line with the other douche tales that we have on this thread but I just wanted to share!
 
Guys are so different lol we'd love the attention, probably pose for the photos if women did that stuff to us in the gym

My gym is very close knit the guys will straight up tell the girls, oh your legs are looking great or wow you're looking lean and no one bats an eye really.
 
See that would be fine! I actually think that I would improve in an environment like that...yeah they are saying that they like what they see but they could also provide some constructive feedback (perhaps)
 
what kind of dead lifts are you trying to do? straight leg, romanian, sumo?

Yeah, there's a HUGE difference between telling someone that their physique is impressive and taking a picture of someone's ass to look at later.

What really annoys me at Planet Fitness type gyms is when the worker cleaning the gym decides to clean the floor or mirror within a few inches of you when you're in the middle of a set.

I try not to get to annoyed by people ego-lifting (benching or squatting way too much weight and doing less than 1/2 ROM reps), but when I'm waiting for the bench/rack, and am basically forced to watch them, it gets annoying.

I pose/flex between sets. I find it helps me keep a good pump and helps with the mind-muscle-connection. I don't care if it's douchey, haha.
 
I actually flex/pose too, half of it is keeping in practice for competition the other is like you said to keep the pump in the particular muscle group you're working.

Although I admit that when looking at a picture online of a nice tush, I don't immediately think "did they get permission to take this?", I usually just enjoy the pict.

I think it honestly depends on what you look like and what poses you hit. Lifting up your shirt and flexing your abs between every set is probably douchey, but doing some sort of bicep pose after an arm superset actually makes sense. I'd also think (although I haven't competed) that posing in front of some people (other people in the gym) is still a bit of good practice for competition.

Haha, that is true, but you weren't the one who took the pic. My iPhone was probably made at least in part by workers in far-less-than-ideal working conditions, but I still use it. With that said, I'm not going to go out and employ child labor to do my yard work or something.

Chest I hit a most muscular, back: lat spread, biceps: i do side chest, and triceps just do triceps pose. Flexing your abs out all the time is pointless in my opinion. I retract them tight and do a vacuum pose when I'm working them you get a much deeper burn.
