DaPack..Fighting Age One Day at a Time

April 14th, 2016 (Thursday)

Bench;
1 set 5 reps 225lbs
1 set 3 reps 275lbs
4 sets 1 rep 295lbs, 315lbs, 325lbs, 335lbs

Flat Dbl Press;
1 set 15 reps 75lbs
1 set 13 reps 85lbs
2 sets 11 reps 95lbs, 110lbs
1 set 5 reps 120lbs

Found a gym by our new place, it is okay. On problem I had is the bar felt totally off, major thing is the rings feel a lot closer. From what I can find on line a normal bar the rings are 36" apart. Going to measure out a piece of string and next time I bench will take it with me to see. Felt weak but been rough month with the move and stuff. Take my test today for the job and my wife finally has 3 interviews lined up so hopefully we both can get a job soon.

I didn't realize you guys moved already, welcome to back to the coast!
We got in late Saturday and just zipped over to the coast for a little on Sunday just to see it. Moved into our really small apartment on Monday and we had to get a 10x16 storage unit too. Bedrooms are so small we only have room for the bed and 2 end tables LOL Really hard coming from a 4 bedroom 3 bath 3 car garage to this but this is only temp. Just so beautiful here that all you have to do is go to the coast, mountains or lakes/ rivers and the stress of life goes away. Nice to finally be back to our home state.

You know, my current place is a very small loft. i've adopted an extremely minimal life style but I love how simple it is. I have far less to take care of, 14ft open beam ceilings, and a cool neighborhood. its not for everyone, but I really really love the minimalism. plus its cheaper. less storage means less things to buy, lol.

April 15th, 2016 (Friday)

Deads;
3 sets 3 reps 225lbs, 250lbs, 275lbs
1 set 5 reps 315lbs
1 set 3 reps 365lbs
1 set 2 retps 385lbs
1 set 1 rep 405lbs
1 set 1 rep 430lbs
1 set 1 rep 455lbs
1 set 0 rep 475lbs
1 set 1 rep 465lbs**New gym PR

Should be happy considering the move and everything that I set a new gym PR but really wasn't excited to much. Took my test for the job today and not feeling to good about it. Should know the results around Tuesday next week. Overall though considering everything; the move, horrible diet, no sups and stress I should be happy about the PR. Just feel as easy as 455lbs is I should be hitting 5 plates, also deads with hex plates suck big time.

deads with hex plates do suck. sorry about the test stress, but the PR is pretty awesome! its so weird how they hit when you aren't expecting it.

I would love to live a minimalist life, but alas, my wife wants to put **** in every nook and cranny. Congrats on the new place. You guys make the coast sound really appealing. I'm surrounded by the Great Lakes, so that keeps me here.

April 18th, 2016 (Monday)

Bench;
3 sets 3 reps 185lbs
1 set 5 reps 225lbs
1 set 3 reps 250lbs
1 set 2 reps 275lbs
3 sets 1 rep 295lbs, 315lbs, 325lbs

Crappy workout. Bench is down a lot but hopefully can start getting things on track. Hard to find my grip on this bar and the bench sets a little different. They have different locations so tomorrow going to go to a different one a little farther away, couple more miles, and check it out. Hoping they have round plates and normal bars for the bench. Not going to run any programs until I start working, hopefully soon, since it is hard to have a schedule. Diet sucks but going to start getting back on track this week. Down around 5lbs since the move too. At least I hit a PR in deads and tomorrow will do squats unless they have round plates and will do deads again.

April 20th, 2016 (Wednesday)

Incline Press;
4 sets 5 reps 135lbs, 185lbs, 225lbs, 250lbs
1 set 3 reps 275lbs
2 sets 1 rep 285lbs, 295lbs

Dbl Incline Press;
1 set 15 reps 65lbs
1 set 13 reps 75lbs
1 set 11 reps 85lbs
1 set 9 reps 95lbs
1 set 5 reps 110lbs

My wife found a job and starts on Monday. I been stressing since Friday about my test and passed it. Still have to go through the interview, background and all the other stuff but should be a sure hire coming in with experience. Another plus is I found another gym and it has tons of bumper plates, nice bars and the bench padding is nice and wide. I have a temp membership at this place until 5/5 so after that will do a test at that gym. Looking back too before we moved had issues with my shoulders and more or less stopped bench so even though my numbers are down at least my shoulders feel a lot better.

As big as the lakes are it is like being by the ocean. We never did make it out there which I regret but someday hope to travel through that area. Plus want to visit the Holy land, Lambeau Field.

April 21st, 2016 (Thursday)

Deads (Conv);
6 sets 3 reps 225lbs, 250lbs, 275lbs, 315lbs, 365lbs, 405lbs
1 st 1 rep 440lbs

(Super Set)**My monthly bicep workout
--1a. EZ Curls; 3 sets
--1b. Incline Hammer Curls
--1c. Dbl Spider Curls

Been a long time since I did conv. deads and after PRing my sumos on Friday was happy.

April 22nd, 2016 (Friday)

Squats;
5 sets 5 reps 135lbs, 185lbs, 225lbs, 275lbs, 315lbs
1 set 3 reps 330lbs
1 set 1 rep 365lbs

Bench;
3 sets 5 reps 135lbs, 185lbs, 225lbs
2 sets 3 reps 250lbs, 275lbs
1 set 1 rep 295lbs

Looking at my lifts right before the move I am down a lot. Back on 3/7 did 365lbs on squats for 7 reps and today was a struggle hitting a single. Also hit 315lbs for 4 reps before the move and was rehabbing from my shoulders hurting. Makes me wonder that even though I hit a PR in deads last week how much they are down if I was 100% rested before the move. After a long decision going to stick with the gym that has hex plates and crappy bars. It is less than 10 mins from us and the other would take me about 30 mins to get there. So saving myself 40 mins in driving just to do deads with bumper plates and having bars that I am use to. Not worth it. My wife starts work next week so can get back on a program again. Hopefully my strength comes back soon but think could take at least 2 months for me to get close to the numbers I had before the move.

two steps forward, 1 step back. but that still means one step forward, right?
I'm with you. my squats are down 100lbs right now, BUT my back isn't hurting. so that's a plus.

how is your bodyweight? i weighted myself last night for the first time in months and I am down 8lbs! 8!! so that's a possible problem!

I am down around 5lbs right now since the move. There are a ton of factors in play with my lifts being down but this week can hopefully start working on what I can. Right now diet, no supps/ vitamins, new gym, new equipment and stress is all playing a factor. Working on diet this week and starting to take my supps/ vitamins. My bench form is all off do to the fact the bar is different, padding is narrower and a little higher. Going to work on that this week. My squats are just down but also the rack is wider so unlike before cannot just touch my feet to the rack and call it good. Deads are hard doing it on basically concrete with cheap carpet and using hex plates.Big difference than before doing touch and go deads using bumper plates and a rubber deadlift platform. Don't think will break any deads best reps I had before because of this. Will just start a new list now. Stress is stress and after almost 3 weeks unemployed will hopefully get a call soon. Just need to refocus and build back up.

April 25th, 2016 (Monday)

Bench;
1 set 5 reps 205lbs
1 set 5 reps 240lbs
1 set 5 reps 265lbs**Did not do AMRAP
2 sets 1 rep 275lbs, 295lbs

Skullies;
4 sets 11 reps

Dbl Curls;
4 sets 5 reps

Bench form is horrible. No leg drive, no arch and cannot find my grip width. Going to put in extra work this week working on this issue. Shoulder issue is popping up again so doing to take extra time and stretch really good. The kettle ball stretch worked good before and today did 3 sets of flies just using 15lbs and did each one holding it for 30 secs. Worst lifting session in bench Oct/ Nov of last year. Will hopefully come back quick.

my buddy squats about as wide as you, he's 5'10 or 5'11 and duck footed. but when he saw me squat he definitely felt like i need to widen my stance. I should work on that.

I hope the kettlebell arm bars help your shoulder. they always seem to do it for me.

April 26th, 2016 (Tuesday)

Deads;
3 sets 3 reps 225lbs, 250lbs, 275lbs
2 sets 5 reps 285lbs, 335lbs
1 set 3 reps 370lbs**Saw this coming

Lat Pull Downs;
3 sets 11 reps

Hammer Low Rows;
3 sets 11 reps

Did the kettle ball and flies again for stretching my shoulders, seems like it is working. Knew my deads would suck big time since I PR'd less than 10 days ago and followed that with conv. deads to single failure. Plus side I have new equipment to use so took advantage of that. Really thinking about changing things up a little and adding in some extra back work on Friday's with a few sets up very light deads.

I wish i had a better understanding of predicting the CNS, strength, etc. it amazed me last year when I could struggle on 365 one day, then pull 435 for a triple another day. I still don't fully understand that.

Was it mental? I can lift 20% more weight if Bonnie Tyler's I Need A Hero is playing, lol. True story.

Decided to take the rest of the week off. My CNS is just fried. Did bench on Wednesday and struggled at 265lbs for 3. So much wrong right now with my lifts just spent the week fishing. Figured going to start Juggernaut since it starts out light and that way I am not comparing my numbers to what I did before the move. My temp. membership ends 5/5 so might just have to shut it down anyways. My wife and I made an agreement that I would not join a gym, another bill, until we both were working. So far no luck for me. Might beg and plead to her I need to get my strength back if and when I start at the Pen. out here. Started apply else where since I can't just sit around and wait for a call that might not happen. Going on 2 weeks and nothing yet from them.

Good luck with the job. I am sure that the stress of this down period doesn't help anything. that could definitely be a contributing factor I bet.

May 2nd, 2016 (Monday)

Bench;
2 sets 5 reps 135lbs, 185lbs
2 sets 3 reps 225lbs, 250lbs
1 set 2 reps 275lbs
2 sets 1 reps 295lbs, 315lbs

Hammer Decline Press;
4 sets 11 reps

First time in a very long time asked for a spot for 315lbs, went up pretty good but confidence is shot. Decided since I don't know where I will be working out come 5/5 not going to run any routine. Just going to try and jump around gyms doing trail offers until I run out of options. Have a card for another gym for a 7 day pass and have 2 or 3 others I can try.

not to always push the xfit thing but a lot of boxes will let you drop in for free on your first visit. usually, there is a $15-25 drop in fee, but if you tell them you're looking for a new gym and wanted to try the place out they'll often give you a pro bono visit. I think I've been to like 6 different boxes this year looking for my new 'home' gym.

May 3rd, 2016 (Tuesday)

Deads;
6 sets 3 reps 225lbs, 250lbs, 275lbs, 315lbs, 365lbs

Lat Pull Downs;
4 sets 11 reps

May 4th, 2016 (Wednesday)

Bench;
5 sets 3 reps 185lbs
1 set 5 reps 225lbs
1 set 3 reps 250lbs
1 set 1 rep 275lbs
1 set 1 rep 295lbs

Hammer Chest Press;
4 sets 11, 9, 7, 5 reps

My trail offer runs out tomorrow which actually is a good thing. My lifts are down so much since even moving here on 4/11 and every time I go to the gym they keep going down. Obviously my CNS is drained and do to crappy diet, sleep, down close to 10lbs, no vitamins or supps it is not recovery but getting worst. Since I need to de-load no sense even join a gym or doing a trail offer at this time. We have a 2 bedroom apartment now but the bedrooms are so small in the master all we could put was the bed and the end table. In the other bedroom is the dresser and since it is even smaller we did not even try to setup the other bedroom set. We made a decision to leave the elliptical out of storage and that is setup in the other bedroom. Going to just do cardio and a cut until around 23rd.

hey you're in the PNW now and the best time of year to be here, go for a few long hikes. it will clear your mind and boost your creativity and drive.

Couldn't agree more with you. Besides moving back to Oregon for family the outdoors was a huge reason too. Since we been here on 4/11 we been to the coast 3 times, went on a couple hikes, spent 4 days visiting family and since last Wednesday after I drop my with off at work I go fishing for 4 to 5 hours unless I hit my limit sooner. Never was a fisherman but always said once I get back to Oregon going to start. Still learning to fish and right now only comfortable fishing for trout, which I love but soon will move on to other things. Last 7 days of fishing got 20 trout and have 15 of them sealed and frozen.

May 5th, 2016 (Thursday)

Cardio;
Session 1; 20 mins
Session 2; 25 mins HIIT
Session 3; 25 mins

Going to split my cario up in multiple bursts through out the day since I always had great success doing it like that. Not setting the number of sessions and only thing kind of set is limiting it to no longer than 30 mins each session. Got my Oregon drivers license so I am officially and Oregonian now!!!

May 8th, 2016 (Sunday)

Cardio;
25 mins
30 mins
60 mins**Walking around river side park
20 mins

May 10th, 2016 (Tuesday)

Cardio;
6 session at 20 mins each

My dog has the runs and couldn't go anywhere so did a lot of cardio. Guess the plus side is I am unemployed and was able to do it. Still has not passed so will be doing the same today. Going to give it one more day before I make a vet appointment but hopefully it passes today.

May 11th, 2016 (Wednesday)

Cardio;
7 sessions at 20 mins each

Took my dog to the vet and they gave me deworming, antibiotics, pepcid and some special food. Going crazy just sitting around the house but at least having the elliptical helps. Hopefully she feels better and I can go fishing tomorrow.

May 12th, 2016 (Thursday)

Cardio;
7 sessions at 20 mins each

Going on 5 weeks unemployed but hopefully something comes through shortly. Granted I have not applied to jobs that require no skills and pay nothing but holding out hope on a few state jobs I applied for. Heard it takes a long time to go through the process of getting a state job here and going on 4 weeks since I turned in my app for the penitentiary. Couple office jobs I am looking at but the pay is a lot less then the pen. but bonus is weekdays with weekends off. Before we moved I was working 7 to 9 days in a row and opposite shift of my wife and we never seen each other. Moving here and having weekends off together to go on adventures is worth less money to me. Every weekend since we moved here we go hiking, to the coast or visit family. Would suck to give that up.

you know it sounds like you just persuaded yourself to pursue a 9-5 over the pen job. It sounds like not having a pen job landed yet is almost a blessing in disguise since you're enjoying the idea of a different life style.

Yeah, I hoping one of these other ones comes through before the pen. The pen is a lot more money a year but the sacrifice of not having weekends off and not seeing my wife as much would be worth a little less money.

May 13th, 2016 (Friday)

Cardio;
6 sessions 20 mins each

Have a ways to go until I have a six pack but might just keep cutting until I get one or close to one. When I finally get back lifting bench will be my main goal for the year, hitting x2 body weight. There is a meet mid-Sept but the biggest thing is how quickly my strength comes back. Definitely taking next week off too and after that will just wait and see.

May 19th, 2016 (Thursday)

Cardio;
5 session 20 mins each

May 20th, 2016 (Friday)

Cardio;
1 session 30 mins
5 session 20 mins each

May 23rd, 2016 (Monday)

Cardio;
35 mins
30 mins
30 mins
25 mins
20 mins

Decided to take another week off from joining a gym, 5/3 was my last workout. Might even take next week off an make it a little over a month off. Not looking forward to seeing how much strength I lost since March/ early April, total was around 1,265lbs. Going on 7 weeks unemployed and really hope something starts to happen here soon.

when you get back to the gym I bet you're better off than you expected. you haven't taken a long deload in a really long time.
I hope you're able to enjoy the free time while you have it. but I totally understand wanting to be at work.

Trying to make the best of it. Go fishing a lot, have about 30 trout frozen right now. Need to learn where and how to fish for other types.

May 24th, 2016 (Tuesday)

Cardio;
5 sets 20 mins each

Decided once I start lifting again going to do a modified Juggernaut. Really don't want squats and deads to be on the same week so will probably start one on wave 10 and the other on way 5 so I have some separation in between the lower rep/ heavy weight weeks. For bench going to be doing it x3 a week and adding in waves of 2 and 1. Will do the 2nd week of each wave on Monday's, the 1st week on Wednesday's and the last week of each wave on Friday's. Still working on %'s of wave 2 and 1 but have some time with that.
