DaPack..Fighting Age One Day at a Time

I tried Juggernaut for a week or two a couple years back. I can't remember what it was that I didn't like. Volume?

Trying to make the best of it. Go fishing a lot, have about 30 trout frozen right now. Need to learn where and how to fish for other types.

there might be some good spring/early summer salmon and steelhead coming up. I dont know the oregon fishery at all, but I know all of my steelhead fishing has been done up here in either March or July! washingtonlakes.com used to be a place that i'd get a lot of my info, they may have an oregon version.

Not a lot of volume. Almost like 5/3/1 but waves are 10/8/5/3. Just need to make sure I don't over do it on assistance work.

They say the stock the ponds around here with them but maybe I just don't setup my pole right to catch them. Caught some blue gills the other day just to try them but don't think I will do that anymore. Not horrible eats but so small and cleaning is a little harder do to having to scale them.

steelhead are ocean run rainbow trout basically. so you'd find them in rivers. they're big and great fights and taste really good. i wish I knew the oregon fishery better. if you were in WA i could tell you 100 places to check out.

the washington department of fish and wildlife has a schedule on their website that shows when the stock each lake and pond that they stock. it says how many fish, what kind of fish, and average size. maybe oregon has one of those too to guide you to hot spots.

Dozens and dozens of trips to different ponds, rivers, and streams is half the fun of fishing. It doesn't matter if you catch anything...okay, it does, but not at first.

hey buddy i just realized they have an Oregon section on the fishing forum I used to frequent.

Thanks that should help. I know the site that shows stocking and such but the really don't say what is being stocked. Think most of the time it is trout though.

up here the stocked trout can be caught hand over fist with just a little powerbait either right off the bottom, or hanging off a bobber.

Yeah, I figured out and went to quit of few lakes/ ponds they stock. Really want to catch bass and wild trout. Hardest part is finding access to the rivers around here but found a couple leads I am going to try out next week. Hit up about 10 different spots around here already.

bass fishing is some of my favorite!! but i'm really bad at it. my best largemouth is only about 4lbs, maybe 4.5 I can't remember. geez i need to get back into that.

I hate you.

Up HERE, you might catch A fish every other time you go out.

well i'm talking stocked rainbow trout. there isn't much to that. but steelhead fishing is called the sport of 10,000 casts for a reason... you spend 8 hours on a boat drifting the river for one of these.

I bet i weighed 35lbs more in that pic lol

Wow, that is huge!!! Nice to know it is just not be and it does take time to catch a bass. Tried a river today but current was way to strong.

bass are some of my favorite. I just booked a weekend camping trip to Mar Don resort over by potholes (eastern WA, a bit of a drive for you) with my little boy. i hope to get him into some bass but i'm certain he'll catch a lot of trout, perch, and maybe crappie!

Still have not gotten a job and getting a little frustrated, hopefully something comes up soon. Put in from being a bag boy, bus boy, mall security, assembly line, bank.....Only 2 interviews and so far nothing on them. Time I am able to lift again will probably be the weakest and smallest I have been in years.

That's horrible news. I know you assumed prospects would be better when you moved out there. How much time do you have before you need to switch to plan B?

We are okay for a very long time with me not working but that requires taking from savings each month. Right now just looking for something to bring a little in until I land a decent job. Got 3 rejections for a bank teller a one other rejection. Hopefully something turns up soon.

Tuesday was 7 weeks since I lifted and cannot imagine how much strength I lost.

you know I bet it comes back fast if you've lost any at all. last night as I was lifting the weight felt light as a feather. I haven't been able to pull or squat heavy in months now but when I have the barbell in my hands it feels light. I just can't do the movement. I bet you're not losing that much strength.

Maybe you could find someone local to you with a garage gym on like a meetup group of lifters or something.

I am hoping that will be the case. Might actually be a blessing in disguise. I haven't taken more than a couple weeks off since I started lifting so maybe it works out for the best. Next week joining a gym and hoping for the best.

Was going to just join the gym this week but going to hold off. Got a couple more job rejections this week and just not in the mood right now to start lifting. Plus side is my gains should be pretty good once I do start lifting again.

have you thought about getting ahold of an employment agency and trying job placement for short term? we have like 15 people here that were hired that way and the agency offers them benefits. i think after 6 months or so we hire them full time if they stay.

Yep, nothing yet. Don't understand what the issue is. I check in every week with the 2 I use.

That's weird. Let's start with the basics...do you...swear like a sailor in interviews, have a swastika tattoo on your neck, have a tether, formally work as an assassin, punch babies, have confederate flag letterhead on your resumes, list hobbies like stalking or peeping?

LOL thanks for the laugh

July 9th, 2016 (Saturday)

Bench;
1 set 5 reps 135lbs
1 set 5 reps 160lbs
1 set 3 reps 185lbs
1 set 0 reps 225lbs

Cannot remember the last time I failed 225lbs on the bench and honestly it was not even close. Guess will say 200lbs is my max bench. Pretty sad when in March I was at 360lbs and around that time did 275lbs for 12 reps.

Deads;
1 set 3 reps 135lbs
1 set 3 reps 225lbs
1 set 3 reps 275lbs
1 set 1 rep 315lbs
1 set 0 reps 335lbs

Could not even move 335lbs off the floor, like bench down a lot. Hit 465lbs in April and now cannot even budge 335lbs of the floor. All in all was expecting horrible lifts but nothing like this. Weight is 180lbs and was around 195lbs to 197lbs in March and my arms are down about 1 3/4" on top of it all. Have a long ways to go if I can ever get my strength up to were it was in March. Judging my these lifts would guess my max squat to be around 250lbs. At least since will be running Juggernaut will get to really test it out and see how the program works and how it works for me. So next week starting maxes will be squat 250lbs, bench 200lbs and deads 315lbs for a total of 765lbs down from around 1,275lbs. Also the nagging pain in my shoulder/ chest, the tendon that connects them both, is still there. Couple options is playing around with bench drip and working on strengthening/ stretching it. Starting Monday time to rebuild from basically scratch again. Hopefully will have some insane gains.

Ouch, those drops are pretty significant.

Huge I know. Was not expecting that much. Was thinking worst 275lbs bench and 400lbs deads. 10 weeks of nothing seems to have done me in. Trying to stay positive though since now where to go but up. Pretty embarrassing numbers and feeling my age. Was talking to the kid who spotted me and told him my numbers back in March and he had that look. "Another old man trying to relive the glory days." and had the "Yeah, sure buddy" look when I told him. All good though. Coming tomorrow, Monday, starting Juggernaut and I am 100% focused on getting my number backup my end of September.

its going to be more frustrating for those of us who watch you go from a 200lb to 360lb bench this year, lol. It'll come back. fix that shoulder though. maybe find some shoulder mobility work on youtube?

I was at the bar on Saturday watching UFC and I was talking to a guy/kid who is 21 years old...I realized I was telling glory day stories...it might have been sad looking from a certain perspective.

most of the guys I spend my time with are 22-25 so i'm already feeling that lol.

way too often I catch myself saying.... well when I was your age....

or back when.....

or do you remember 1999?

and they say, no, i was 7.

LOL, yeah, apparently Pearl Jam is oldies music, a PS2 is some ancient game system right up there with Atari, and Star Wars is some new fad.

Don't forget all the remake movies; Point Break, Ghostbusters, Ben Hur is coming out....heck I had a beta video player LOL

(Juggernaut Cycle 1 Week 1)

Cardio;
3 sessions 20 mins each
1 session 30 mins

Bench;
1 set 10 reps bar
1 set 10 reps 75lbs
1 set 10 reps 95lbs
5 sets 5 reps 115lbs

Not a typo and suppose to be kg's or dbl's, it was the barbell variety bench. Pretty sad when in March was doing dbl's with this weight. Really hard work out mentally for me. Use to being one of the Big Dogs in the gym and now a baby ankle bitter. Told my wife it would take 2 of me now to be as strong as I was only 3 months ago, really pathetic. Just hope it comes back at a good pace. Have to start some where.

That's so odd. Are you considering cutting out cardio all together for a while? I would...just focus on weights.

I do it out of boredom so probably not but I am going to go on a "See Food Diet". Thinking x2 to x3 a week going to eat whatever and as much as I want. Hoping after a couple weeks my body will start clicking again and get some huge gains.

how much have your measurements changed? this year I lost 10-12lbs and I noticed it mostly in my legs and probably ass cause my best pants dont fit well anymore even though I dont think i'm any leaner. i think its from not being able to squat and deadlift heavy. I'm sure yours will come back fast.

.
If you looked at me now you would swear I never worked out my entire life. Everything is gone. Arms are almost 1 1/2" smaller, no chest, no lats, no traps, nothing...Then if you look at my lifts too.

Was talking to my wife and told her this just makes no sense how much I lost both in strength and muscle. Physically I feel fine but honestly if I was working and we had better insurance would go to the doctors and get a ton of tests done. Maybe what happened to me would happen to most, specially those my age. Last four months and even now have been stressed filled. We sold our house, both of use quit our jobs with no jobs lined up, moved half way across the country to a city we never been to, renting a place we never seen before, drained 1/2 our savings to do it and still taking from it to survive and then not working out for 10 weeks. Maybe it was the perfect storm and anyone who went through, and still going through it, what we are would see this happen. Totally insane what has happened to me.

(Juggernaut Cycle 1, Week 1)

Cardio;
3 sessions 20 mins each

Warm Ups;
Foam roller
Hip mobility/ stretching
Rotator cuff work
Shoulder mobility

Deads;
5 sets 10 reps 185lbs

Not much to say, was a hard work out and pretty pathetic. I see no reason that expecting 5lbs a week gain should not happen for the Big 3 lifts. Unless something physically is wrong with me feel that at the end of the first cycle of Juggernaut should be up around 80lbs for each lift or a total of 240lbs. This week going to work on a clean diet to follow and really not concern myself to much with the scale. Was 180lbs yesterday will see what happens. Been junking out the last few days so would not be surprised to be up 5lbs just for that reason.

so heavy barbell stimulation causes growth hormone and testosterone increases in us when we lift, right? plus stress causes cortisol, etc. you and i have had kinda similar years in terms of gym and personal stress affecting us and i've seen a lot of the same things. the big difference is I was still able to keep benching while you took time off, so I did my best to push those numbers as high as I could to try to get that heavy weight stimulation on the CNS.

I wouldn't stress too much just yet. my legs have shrunk noticeably. i've had 2 people comment on how much smaller they look and i've lost 15lbs this year. i think its stress plus no deads or squats with the back injury. give it time and be smart on the rebuild. i bet you do just fine and come back fast.
