Keeping Up With The Yates': A Couple's Training Log

Was really enjoying my see food diet but sadly, it's over. I've been averaging 5 to 6000 calories every day for the past month and my body is finally tired of it. Had my first low carb meal tonight :(

Would now be a bad time to discuss my 3 cheese macaroni dinner with bacon-wrapped mini-steaks on the side? Lol, sorry.

Glad you got the BP under control though.

The real tragedy is the birthday cake ice cream I have in the fridge, have really been enjoying that the past few days.

B-Day cake ice cream? Could sneak in a bowl once a week on cheat day. I have to keep ice cream out of the house as I can devour that. If you put some ice cream in a bowl, swirl it around into a blizzrd-style consistency, then add broken cookie bits....oh wow.

Lol that's how I like to party! I'm not much of a icecream/junkfood person but when I do get into some...I run through it. I just gotta chill with the weight gain for a little while. 20 pounds in a month is stupid, no wonder my bp is pissed. I gotta recomp this one the rest of the way out.

Steak, bacon, and mac and cheese? I tried ignoring that but I just can't. You gotta take pictures of these things! Food porn is always welcome :)

Same for me. I claim to have this great willpower but it usually only works when I don't purchase the junk food. So, I rarely buy it.

Our bodies definitely speak to us, we just have to listen and all will be good. I wanted to hit 230 on my current cycle but my body seems to want to hang out now in the 220-222 range. I'm recomping nicely so no need to push it for the last 2 weeks. My body will adjust to the new weight and I will gain a bit more on the next one.

I usually snap pics of my creations so I will try and post up the odd pic here and there. I can't claim this creation though. My mother made it and dropped it off on her way through. Can't beat mom's homecookin'.

We have the same goals for our cycles lol. I wanted to break 230, started at 215 and made it to 221 so far. Although I was 217 today because I ate 1700 calories yesterday. I have time to gain though. We'll see.

I actually started my run @ 203 dry a.m. weight so I can't complain too much. I peaked @ 227 but since dropping Trest and cutting cals a wee bit, I'm down on the csale. It's cool though because my face looks thinner. Excessive weight gain in your face often indicates that your body isn't properly coping with all the excess.

I made the decision recently to leave OL UK and will not be a rep any more. This is something that I have thought about for a while now and finally followed through this morning. I appreciate everyone's continued support and I hope you join me in my journey to the next level.

Congrats on the decision buddy. Everyone needs to follow their heart and the path their life leads them. Just know you are definitely not riding solo my man. There are tons that are following you on your journey.

I couldn't leave if I wanted to, am is my home and everyone e here is like family to me. I'm just making a change to my rep status, definitely plan to be around for a long time to come.

You ever try the Oreo birthday cake ice cream? Man, i have so many damn cakes in my window sill to eat and a pumpkin pie too. Rest day today, will have to wait til tomorrow to dig in.

Ended up getting my bp a little too low and my Tuesday workout sucked because of it. Not sure if it was just that or all of this stuff going on yesterday just got to me a little too much. Either way I look to have a little bit better lower body session today. BP was still a little low this morning so I get to use a little bit of pwo (yay!) Before the gym. I miss my stims!

It has some, yes. Still a little tweak in the mornings. So taking it easier on it.

How curious. You certainly did upset it, must have been right on edge to let go that way. Good thing you can miss a session or 2 of shoulders - Yates has got enough for both of you!

He won't share though....greedy!! I actually originally irritated it back before Christmas....carry a 30lb sleeping toddler around while shopping. Seriously wanted to kick myself for selling my carriers that allowed me to wear him on my back with his weight more evenly distributed. I just really pissed it off more last week.

Ah, there you go. Good thing you are aware of the origins...so you don't repeat it. The little man won't get any lighter! Hopefully ROM won't be affected, shoulders are a real PIA as they travel across to the neck & down the spine, throwing all sorts out if you're not careful. Sounds like you know how to manage it.
If your scapula starts locking up on that side see if you can get the big guy to put his fingertips under there & gently raise to loosen it off again, after you've stretched & rotated the joint. Don't do that cold & use the other side as reference.
 
It's hard to describe where the pain is. I feel like, now, after being aware of certain muscles it is where the bicep head connects to the delt. If I hold my arm against my body with the lower half (elbow to hand) bent, parallel to floor, & up against my abdomin and then flex I can feel that area get a bit peeved. That's similar to how I carry my son. I support his weight on the lower half of my arm, while keeping tension on the top half. So, it could have easily strained that area back in December. My ROM seems to be ok in my shoulder & arm though. Weird.

Could be bicep tendon or delt lower attachment. I'm not going to try & guess. Your body may lock that scapula in an effort to stabilise the joint, which can create issues, particularly when you try & do chest exercises as you'll lose the ability to get full stretch of the pec. If it persists definitely see a physio & identify where the issue is.

If biceps you may feel it more doing an inverted straight arm stretch (or curl under weight/resistance).
If it's front - medial delt doing a straight arm front raise will be a killer up through that front head, or lateral raise for lateral head. Either raise will be most uncomfortable through to the top of the shoulder if delt is the issue.
If biceps (long) is the culprit this will show as a deep pain, seemingly under the front - lateral delt muscles. Short biceps comes up the inside, more into the pec attachment area.

Hope this helps a little. Not much you can do but rest and tentatively stretch as it heals...provided it is healing.

Without accompanying diagrams it can be incredibly difficult to comprehend. I'm no guru either, so I keep it simple for myself as well as others.

Decent session even though I don't feel too great. BP has been up because if my anxiety. Too much stress, gotta chill. I'm not hypertensive yet but my heart rate is up around 80bpm right now! Gotta go give some blood asap and in the mean time just relax....
