Douchebags at the gym...

The other day I took a break from heavy squats to kick back and watch a guy throw on wrist wraps, and belt, and knee wraps to squat 225.
...wrist wraps.

.....for squats.

Ever think he's trying to get into powerlifting and just doesn't know what he's doing? He's more than likely using knee wraps too soon in his lifting career. But, wearing wrist wraps while squatting is pretty damn common lol. Especially if one is low bar squatting.

I wear it sometimes since I have an injured wrist. :D

Right? Staring at me all the time. They 'myrin the fawwwk out of me. It's like they think I'm huge or something. .. Oh wait... it's Cuz I am lol

Hahaha. There are a lot more people staring at my university gym compared to the gym I work at. Probably a bunch of freshmen who've never seen a bigger guy before

It helps take pressure off your wrists if you use a grip with a bent wrist. It's not that it directly helps you squat more. But, it allows you to take a closer grip on the bar and therefore (in most cases, some people can get a nice tight upper back with a wide grip too) allows you to create a better, tighter shelf for the bar to sit on. Which very well could lead to more lbs on the bar.

There's a couple at my gym who constantly ego lifts. It hurts to watch them do half a** reps with sloppy as hell form, then high-five each other.

If you're working out your forearms more than your lats when you're doing lat pull downs, the weights are too damn heavy.

They're together. He kinda "trains" her. They go from machine to machine, not really focusing on anything. No real program, just whatever they feel like at that moment.

Today I saw them squat, triceps, backs, abs, and DB presses. He put on wrist wraps to do Tricep dips, lol. Oh and they argue so damn loud the whole time.

Even my friend said he couldn't stand watching how bad she trains! Lol

I have to wear wrist wraps on squats over 350-ish. It's painful otherwise. I have the bar low on my back, so you don't have the shelf you do with traps if high-bar squatting.

I always use wrist wraps. Have an injured wrist. While you were kicking back and wasting time in the squat rack creeping on someone else you could have been done so someone else could have used the area.

Gym time is me time. No way I want a partner there, hell no!

The recently signed up GFs never last. It's a week of constant whining - "are we finished yet?", "this hurts my....", "but I don't like it", followed by the guy blowing his stack. This, accompanied by 45 minutes of sulking & mirror obsession as the GF's attempt to resist getting sweatier & more dishevelled.
You're either into it or you're not, but very few people can make it a good couples activity. If she's not interested in training on her own, she's probably not going to do so with him. Reverse the sexes, same applies.
 
My ex gf is a douchebag. She got her hands on some supposed Winstrol because she thought it would help her lose weight. I forced her to flush it down the toilet. Some bodybuilder hooked her up saying it was clenbuteral but then changed his mind and said it was actually Winstrol. Who knows what the **** it actually was. She only took 2 pills before I found this out. FYI: my ex drinks too much, smokes, doesn't work out and recently smoked crack. This is getting out of hand

Recently smoked crack? That escalated quickly. Some people need to stay well away from drugs period.

Hey man! Thanks for the friendly advice. As a matter of fact I was waiting for a squat rack to open up so I really had nothing to do but watch. And in case you hadn't read the rest of this thread, people informed me of the actual reasons people use wrist wraps with squats. I acknowledged my lack of understanding for the thing in question, admitted my mistake and we moved on. Thank you SO much though. I'll make sure to not waste space next time I'm at the gym.

You do realise that some people take up to 90 sec before they do a next set?..It is 100% normal.He was waiting on his next set not "kicking back"..

Ha!..I have 2 of those couples..at the same time..the diffrence though is they know how to train..but they are still anoying

Yeah my bad, I wasn't actually squatting yet. I was waiting, for all the people who were taking at least 20 minutes each on every squat rack.

I've trained with a few guys that I've dated and I always feel awkward. Like.... A total effn newbie waiting around for them to tell me what to do. Sooooo odd!

Well I'm the dbag today. There was two kids ( late teens early 20s who the f can tell anymore? ) and they were making all kinds of noise curling the 40 lb ezbar. So I grab 70lb dbs look directly at them and quietly start curling them with perfect form. 10 reps then walk away lol
