Jim's Powerlifting Training

Can't hurt to do extra if it's not hurting recovery and you're game for it!

Louie advocates for small workouts like that everyday to build up work capacity and improve recovery in the long term.

He even does smaller workouts on days that they do their regular training lol.

Got some more stuff in today.

Spud:
Dip belt
Belt squat belt
Towel grip
Safety straps
Rack savers
Long RH strap

EFS:
Chinning triangle
Lat Bar
Swiss Bar attachment

Still have one shipment from EFS that hasn't arrived, has a few more handles for the Pulldown machine.

Low Bar Squat (oly shoe): 185 x 2 x 8 (against reds)

Invalid Link Removed

DL: 225 x 1 x 8

Invalid Link Removed

Banded GHR: green x 8, green x 4---red x 5, red x 8

RKC Plank: BW x 6 x 2

Done. Heading out for sushi after a shower. Gonna hit some lunges and low back work tomorrow with some post squat stuff.

Was having a hard time getting the hammies working with the GHR, but lowered the resistance and really focused on making them pull me up on the last two sets.

All that money you spend on your gym and you can't get better lighting?

lol
Just kidding.

Kinda.

DE Bench

Swiss Bar (against greens): 85 x 3 x 9

1 Arm DB OHP: 45 x 12 x 2

us1. Chins: BW x 12, 10
a2. Facepull: Red x 20 x 2

What's wrong with the light? I'm able to see just fine in there.

Not bad on the pressing vid, but can't see much in your deads.

How do you have the green bands wrapped? It looks like there is constant tension but they aren't doubled.

Yeah, the DE Lower was done at night. I don't usually train at night, so the shed just has enough light for the few times that I need it.

The band wraps around the first peg and then runs under the second and up to the bar.

I'd like to make something to hold pegs that's removable for my gym. The DBs are annoying enough to maneuver.

I can't even begin to imagine how this could be done with heavy band work.

I'm also not very imaginative, so it may very well be incredibly simple.

Just put it on the wish list for your home gym man, a rack with band pegs.

ME squats

SSB (Oly shoes): 322 x 1, 292 x 4

Back Ext->GHR: BW x 11 x 2, BW x 8

Not bad today.

A drill gun and bolts.

They wouldn't do it. Just bought a new rack and I'm the only member who uses bands

You said removable.

I thought you were talking about something you could carry in your gym bag.

I consider both. If we didn't have cameras I'd just go In extra early and just drill.

Got the last 3 handles in

Now just need the big stuff to get here so I can use it all lol.

Real perty, especially that belt squat stand

They just tease you with pictures?

They just tease you with pictures?

Pretty much lol.

He has to build a crate to fit everything in to ship it, and because they're a smaller fabrication shop they don't ship a whole lot.

So its taking them some time to get it right without dinging up the equipment too much.

That green looks good man! If I'm ever in tx can I get a free day pass? Lawlz.

ME Bench

CG: work to 235 x 1

Deadlift: 235 x 1 x 8

SSB GM (close stance, flats): 152 x 8 x 3

Planks: BW x 60sec x 2 (hold max squeeze for last 10 seconds)

Notes: felt good today. All work done beltless, as DE will be until the next "wave".

If any of you are interested the new condense flavors are good. The sangria lemonade is hard to describe, but the flavor was good in 10oz water. It had a bit of a strange aftertaste after chugging it down, but it was great to sip on before that without any noticeable aftertaste.

Planning to add in a back day on Saturdays. 3 exercises for moderate to high reps, 2 Rows and a low back exercise.

Once the equipment comes in that low back exercise will likely be RH, but for now just basic hypers will suffice.

Sounds like it'd be easily recoverable

That's what I'm hoping.

And it'll allow me to get some more back work in, as I just haven't had the motivation/energy to hit any Rows after the speed work.

After this meet, I may play around with 2x a day training on certain days and see how that feels.

I think I'm about 8 weeks out from the meet, planning to send our registration out tomorrow.

Yeah I feel ya. I never have any desire for any heavy rowing after working sets.

Wraps or no wraps? I forgot

No wraps.

I'll likely keep the wraps off until I'm a 500# squatter w/o them. I still have that pair you sent me back in the day lol.

Think I've used them twice for squats.

I forgot about those ****in things lol I think I was going to use them when I contemplated a single ply meet.

You can always use them for occlusion training!

I don't even know what kind of wrap they are lol. Hopefully, they aren't too stiff to get used to when the time comes.

I've honestly not tried occlusion training. It scares me a little lol.

Nah, they're a very very very easy wrap.

Hm, it's pretty freakin awesome. You should try it once just for shîts and gigs. I just followed Layne Norton's protocol in one of his t-nation articles.

Now, occluded arms scares me. Painful pump from 10lb Dumbell curls lol

Hey Jim remember when you hurt your back terribly and now you can already pull 1.5 bw for speed day?? Keep on keeping on man!

What have you noticed from it?
