Gaming

Also now that they ALSO announced backwards compatibility, its another good system to get

Wait.... Sony released an update that makes the PS4 backwards compatible? :O
I've been dying to get an old PS3 game that I was hooked on. I hope this means I can download PS3 games now..The game I want isn't available as part of Sony's streaming service for old games.

Edit: friend just told me it's only for PS1 + 2 games, not PS3.. What a fkn letdown

Well this answers my question if I should trade in my PS3 or not.

Xbox1 allows for xbox 360 games to be played

Yeah, I have a 360 but am selling it as I jumped on the Ps4 bandwagon. Sucks, but the vast amount of reviews I read favored the PS4.

Xbox one dropping its kinetic helps dedicate more power to the graphics but it still just doesnt compete

Anyone ever try this game out? LOL looks like a lot of fun

When you come home and realize your gf is perfect for you lol

I see this thread and feel so old. My idea of a computer game is this:

I really prefer the xbox controllers, but just the overall titles and power of ps4 convinced me to change over. Hopefully I don't regret that decision lol

I got an xbox one in July (my fiancé bought it for me for my birthday) I have no regretted it at all

if your indeed more of a gamer than a redbox type than you'll love ps4!

I didn't need all the extra ports and things of Xbox One, and I got the PS4 at a steal of a price (roughly $150 cheaper than a xbox one comparative bundle). I just like the controllers of Xbox

I miss playing Heroes of Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes online on Xbox. It's available for PS3 but not for PS4. Super basic game, but super addictive. People who've got the Clash bug know what I mean...

I stopped playing video games for a long time due to feeling like it was a childish time suck when I could be doing more productive things.

However, this last year I started back up and I find that the strategy and reaction time aspects of the whole thing seem to help translate beneficially in real life too.

Don't feel old. I spend a good deal of time buying games off GOG.com(Good old Games) to play as many of the ones from the 90's and early 2000's outperform games from today. Being 29 I tend to enjoy black and white movies and Jerry Reed on the radio. Tell me I am not lost in time LOL.

You should check out Europa Universalis IV. Similar to this but more updated. Be warned though you may lose a week or two of your life lol.

I have found a good deal of things I picked up from video games have transferred to real life usefulness. Not saying this works for everyone though because the lower intelligence level an individual has the less likely they are to have an uptake of useful information in any given situation, especially gaming. But if you play games that require you to bend your mind to win, to perfect min/maxing a system, or to balance economies and labor, then they can easily have real life uses as you are practiced in a sense for real life scenarios.

Pretty sure I have even used a few lines from video games in real life conversations to great results lol. Remember most average people are just floating down the river without any guidance. Who cares where you got your oars from if you know how to change directions.

^^^if you can load DOS games then Steel Panthers and Silent Hunter are recommended as is Avalon Hill's Crusader, Normandy and Stalingrad games.

I see they are listed on abandonia.com

Started playing Fallout last week, Game is beaten, now to redo it for different faction achievements

I was off work lol. And I didn't sleep much.

Did the same with every title since Oblivion

Its easy to beat the game just doing the story, but you miss out on everything that makes fallout, fallout by doing so.

All the easter eggs, secret weapons, locations, mini missions (cant complete them all within a week) etc etc. It took me 1 year to beat skyrim

I have also got every bobblehead, unique weapon, and magazine.
Discovered a few Easter Eggs but not concerned to look them all up I would rather just replay as another faction.

You found every unique weapon in a week? Were you playing on hardcore and still found every location?

I can see how you would be able to do that if you used spoiler s, but ive been on hardcore since it came out and still not done it all

Thats gotta be a record, lol.

I've systematically discovered all the map locations, I'm efficient in Bethesda titles.
Questing is also much faster in Fallout 4 vs. skyrim, in that combat ends so much faster I clear missions and "dungeons"/buildings in no time.

Spoiler alert beyond:

I really need to replay though to see how the Brotherhood campaign rolls along, I barely enlisted before I took them out for the Institute, same with the railroad. I liked having assistance forces that could teleport in instantaneously, and hold their own against deathclaws/advanced robotics late-game

But I get addicted to titles like these, rpg's creep into my thoughts while not playing, planning out my following stat changes, weapon mods, or whatever it may be. Total nerd, used to d&d pretty often and did the same then.

And its crossed with my FPS love.
Honestly im playing right now lol

To be fair, fallout 4 hasnt pulled me in like I thought it would. I enjoy it, but it gets repetitive pretty fast and my player is pretty much broken now.

Having ten luck and using criticals is almost unfair
